Great space, great host

We really enjoyed our stay at The Boardroom. It was a few minutes drive from downtown, and a few more minutes from the beach. Dave was super responsive regarding a quick wireless router issue and went above and beyond as we left something behind that we really needed.

Video Cameras Inside Property

First, we did not receive the welcome emails prior to 4 pm. We contacted the owner several times and VRBO. When VRBO finally reached him, he pretended to "resend" the emails with the entry code after 4:30. The property was exactly what we were looking for for a girl's trip UNTIL we noticed video cameras that had view of the ENTIRE studio, including the beds. We contacted VRBO immediately, took pictures, packed our things, and left while talking to customer service at her advice. She said that we would be contacted within 2 hours with alternative booking options. That did not happen. We spent the next 3 hours talking to several representatives about our situation. VRBO management apparently only communicates through email on their time even in UNSAFE situations. Finally, at 8:30 pm my husband got involved (from home) and his customer service rep was given permission to provide us with hotel options at 9:30 pm. We had to pay for those out of pocket as well. Now we will have to submit all the bills and hope management responds in a timely manner. We were not reimbirsed for the VRBO. Our trip has cost double the original booking and we had to stay in an old Hotel to ensure that we were safe. VRBO policy explicitly states there will be no cameras on the interior of properties. I was extremely upset by the lack of urgency and care for 3 women on vacation. Be very cautious!

Response from VrboOwner on 7 Aug 2023
Bobbi booked our space 2 days before arriving. Our welcome letter and access information emails were immediately sent out to her. They were resent on the day of her arrival per her request. We told both VRBO and the guests that the cameras were from a previous tenant of the building and that they were NOT operational. Even still, we offered to immediately go over there to tape off the cameras. We never heard another word from the guests. All of this could have been prevented with a simple response to our communications.
