Great cabin getaway near Boone and Sugar Mountain. The host was fantastic. Great communication before the trip, easy instructions, and no problems whatsoever. Would definitely book again.
Great communication from the host. House was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities. The fireplace was a great bonus for our December vacation. Definitely recommend!
Our entire family enjoyed our stay. Location was perfect to enjoy both Boone and Blowing Rock. Everything was clean when we arrived and the house felt very well kept. Host was wonderful!
Stayed here with another family with kids. Everything was wonderful. Our host was great. We love this location and would stay again if we come back this way again.
This property was perfect. Wonderful neighborhood and home is located at the very end of the street so nice and secluded. Great weekend getaway. Will definitely book again!
Wonderful home with great views and accommodations. Check in process was seamless and communication was clear and prompt. Definitely recommend this spot for a chill getaway.
My family and I stayed the week of New Years. Everything about the cabin was amazing. It was very clean and had everything needed for a family of 7. Shannaz was very accommodating and on top of everything. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Home is well decorated and aesthetically pleasing. Very quiet, secluded, and peaceful. Had to do some of our own cleaning upon check-in but overall a great stay.

Hi thank you for the 5 stars but I’m not sure what cleaning you had to do. Wish you let me know because owner was there and then the housekeeper and we had a deep deep clean and leaves clean over the 2 weeks prior to your arrival in anticipation of season beginning. Pls anytime there is an issue let us know .
Blowing Rock is an amazing place during the week of July 4th! Cedar Retreat was the perfect place for our family to stay for our brief Independence Day getaway- very comfortable and well suited for cooking delicious meals and fun hanging out. Property Manager was easily accessible and super great to work with. We would come back again!
My family gathered for our annual birthday weekend, and we could not have chosen a more serene and beautiful place. The host was also responsive and kind. We look forward to coming back.
This house was great for our family (7 adults, 1 baby) to meet at and stay a week. The wraparound porches were amazing, 2 large hammocks were used by most of us, and we used the grill and ate outside for 2 of our meals. The house and surrounding area is absolutely beautiful! We saw deer right outside several days. The house is completely updated and we would definitely stay here again.
Central location to everything in the area, but away from the chaos. We had deer outside our windows all day every day. No street or neighbor noise, just relaxation. Neighborhood could be tricky driving/parking for large SUVs or trucks although we saw others handling it with ease, and we were able to maneuver in an Armada.
This was such a wonderful week in the mountains, and a great place to celebrate my parents' wedding anniversary! The home is gorgeous, and so is the surrounding property. My parents have some mobility issues, but they didn't have any trouble getting around on the ground floor and the master bedroom. The rest of us were very comfortable in the downstairs rooms with a beautiful view of the surrounding forest. The location in the gated community is very peaceful, and the staff at the front gate were always friendly and helpful. We spent the week either relaxing at the house (we cooked several meals there, and the weather was perfect for having dinner on the deck overlooking the forest), or visiting Boone and Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, all of which are convenient to the property (lots of great restaurants and stores in the area, and of course there's always hiking to do in the Blue Ridge Parkway). The host made renting and checking in extremely easy, and she always responded quickly to any questions I had about our stay. I highly recommend this rental!
We stayed here for our trip to the Highland Games on Grandfather Mountain. The location was close enough to the games and far enough from the crowds. The only thing that I may have miss-read in the description was that three of the 4 bedrooms are downstairs which is basically the basement. There was only one (1) bedroom on the main floor. Four of us were seniors stairs aren’t always friendly.
We had the best time! We will definitely stay here again if we return to Boone. We had a family of 7 adults. There were plenty of space, and the kitchen was furnished nicely for Thanksgiving Lunch (minus measuring cups, but we made it with simple math..LOL). The view and the peace were unmatched honestly. The living area was plentiful with a "real fire" fire place which we used almost nightly. The washer/dryer were perfect for our laundry, and there were plenty of towels. A few comments for new-comers; the downstairs gets hot at night..we couldn't figure out why. Take your shoes off at the door as the carpet is an almost white color. Someone has taken a great deal of time to redo the flooring and take care of the furniture. Communication w/the realtor was good and fast acting. The property inside the country club was well kept; the drive up the hill is steep but doable...watch for oncoming cars. We did have to take some overflow trash down the hill..not sure if when large parties stay there they could have two recepticals. Not a show stopper. This will be our permanent stay place when/if we return to Boone.
Wonderful place. Great location. Easy to get to. Amazing fireplace and view. Plenty of room. Very clean. Ample parking. Easy and quick communication with the host. She was very accommodating. Would definitely go back!! Loved everything about it.
Really enjoyed our stay over a long weekend. The location is great - easy to get to sights in Boone and Blowing Rock, and the house has plenty of room. Really enjoyed the fireplace and views from each room. Shanaaz is wonderful, she even turned up the heat so I wouldn't arrive to a cold house. Excellent weekend with friends to leave work and responsibilities behind for a few days.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was lovely and so comfortable. Everything we needed was there. The view was amazing and the deck was very welcoming. The neighborhood was quiet and private. The owner was quick to respond to a question. The location was great, away from the busyness of downtown Boone but close enough to get there fairly quickly. We would recommend staying here.
This house was perfect for a weekend getaway! We originally had planned to drive to the mountains for the day to look at the fall leaves; but when we saw this house on Vrbo was available, we decided to book it. Shanaaz, our host, was very kind and helpful throughout our stay.
The house was beautiful with a large living area with a wood burning fireplace. The view was spectacular, and we enjoyed sitting on the wrap around deck.
I would definitely recommend this house!

About the host
Hosted by Kathy Blake
My wife and I love vacations in the mountains and have had a long term goal of retiring here. We were renting a home this past december and found this wonderful home shortly there after.
Why they chose this property
We love this area and the gated community of Hound Ears. This home is centrally located to everything this area has to offer.
What makes this property unique
The front of the home faces a huge rock with a natural spring flowing down it's face and under the walkway leading up to the house. We also have created a 'bay of hammocks' for enjoying the wonderful mountain air.
