About this property

Bear's Lair, pets welcome! Close to hiking, swimming, skiing and snowboarding

Come and relax at our home away from home, we welcome you and your furry friends!

Linens and trash service are included, with no extra fees. Our cleaning fee covers all the house cleaning. You will not be stripping beds or doing laundry and you don't have to take out the trash. You are on vacation and we want you to enjoy your time here.

There is a large, level, open area to park. During the winter we have a snow plow service to keep it clear.

The cabin has a large deck out front with room to eat or just sit together and play giant Jenga. It’s a beautiful spot in the evening to look for stars!

The cabin’s upstairs has a large open area with the kitchen, dining area, and living room all in one. Our operating manual is located on the dining room table and it includes everything from the Wifi info to popular hikes and lakes.

Our kitchen is fully stocked. Our goal was to be able to cook a full holiday meal from start to finish. We have many appliances, pots, pans, and serving dishes. Tips for baking and cooking at altitude are in our operating manual to ensure your meal turns out perfect. (We have tested them out and can assure you they work).

You can play games or watch a movie in our upstairs living room. It is our favorite gathering spot. You can cook, play games, and watch a movie all together in one big room.

Our leather L-shaped sofa has three recliners built in so you can relax after a day of skiing, snowboarding, or hiking and boating. The big wood-burning stove keeps the whole floor warm and we offer plenty of wood to go with it. There is complimentary hot chocolate, tea, and coffee for our guests. We offer a complimentary bottle of wine as well to start your vacation off right!

There is radiant ceiling heat in each room with separate thermostats to ensure you stay warm. We do not have A/C but do have plenty of fans in every room.

There are two bedrooms upstairs, each with a comfortable queen bed and blackout shades. There is a full bathroom just steps away. We offer toiletries, shampoo and conditioner, a facial bar, and body wash as well as a spare toothbrush and floss.
We have baby toys in the upstairs closet along with a portable crib, high chair, toddler cot, and a white noise machine.
Infant safety items are in this closet too, outlet covers and cabinet keepers.

Downstairs has the Bunkbed Room with two twin over full bunkbeds-it is not the most clever name but it was named by our kids when they were little and now we love it :). This room has blackout curtains.
Loads of toys and games in this room, it’s perfect for kids. Each bed has it’s own reading light for bedtime stories. There is a reading nook under the stairs with books and pillows.

There is also a cozy family room with a second wood-burning stove. A 55-inch tv and large selection of movies make for a great family night or just a place for the kids to play.
There is also a washer/dryer there with complimentary detergent should you need it. A second full bathroom is right there.

Both of our TVs have streaming platforms and the downstairs has a fire stick and DVD player.

We are members of the Big Trees HOA. Our membership includes free club and pool access for you and your whole group. It is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Bear Valley Ski Resort is 20 min up the hill, and Big Trees State Park is 5 minutes down the hill. Restaurants and groceries are just 10 minutes down the hill in Arnold. We are perfectly located to get away from it all but close enough to all your favorite activities that you won’t miss a thing!

About the host

Host profile image
We are Bay Area natives who grew up vacationing in Dorrington and Camp Connell. Our family loves to come up all year round for hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, skiing, and snowboarding. We love being outdoors.
We are also on another famous listing site with lots of 5-star reviews. Check us out and then come back here and book.

Why they chose this property

We chose this neighborhood because it is far enough away to feel isolated but close enough to town for supply runs. Just walking through the neighborhood is lovely! It is a perfect neighborhood for a peaceful vacation.
We are also high enough in elevation that we get a good amount of snow.

What makes this property unique

We love that the cabin has two full levels. It allows us to gather together upstairs for games, cooking and eating, and watching movies, while still having plenty of room downstairs to relax and read or watch a different movie.
Often the kids take over the downstairs and the adults have the upstairs. There is more than enough room for everyone, either for gathering or for a little solitude.
