About this property

HOME RUN - Experience Year-Round Bliss at our Bear Valley Ski Retreat!

Important notes to potential guests:
*Getting around in winter requires riding in snowmobile trailers (no suspension), skiing and walking on snowy roads. Lifting bags, dogs, kids, etc. into and out of a trailer with waist high sides will be necessary. This has been challenging for anyone with strength or mobility issues. Staying with us in the summer is a great way to enjoy this space without the challenges that come with winter access.

**New Ownership, new cleaning staff, extensive rebuild of the deck.

***We will be using the downstairs apartment from time to time, as we also enjoy skiing and playing in the mountains. This is a separate space from upstairs with a separate entry. You might see us walk by on the deck.

-Bear Valley Ski Resort (Village Cabin)
-Located on Home Run ski run
-Brominated/chlorinated jacuzzi
-Recently rebuilt and expanded deck (Summer, 2023)
-New cleaning staff
-Amenities listed at the end
-Dogs allowed (please walk them off the deck for pee and poo)

Nestled in the woods, walking distance from Bear Lake beach in the summer and offering ski-in/ski-out access in the winter, our charming cabin is the perfect year-round escape. Designed with comfort and convenience in mind, this two-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom haven offers the amenities you need for a relaxing and memorable stay.

Step inside to find a well appointed kitchen with a breakfast bar, perfect for morning coffee or quick meals. The large dining room table seats 10, inviting you to gather for meals and game nights with friends and family. The spacious family room, complete with a wood-burning fireplace, games, books, and records, is ideal for cozy evenings in. An additional upstairs living space provides a tranquil spot to unwind or can serve as an extra sleeping area with two single guests.

Each bedroom is appointed with plush beds, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a day of adventure. Our full bath is thoughtfully designed with separate zones, allowing multiple guests to use it simultaneously in comfort and privacy.

Outside, our newly expanded 600 square foot, 280-degree wrap-around deck offers spectacular panoramic views. One side of the deck features a Jacuzzi, perfect for soaking under the stars, while the other side provides ample space for outdoor dining and socializing in any season.

During the winter months, the cabin’s location directly on the Home Run ski run means you can ski straight to your door after a day on the slopes. All roads are groomed, offering a seamless ski-in/ski-out experience. For added convenience, a Snow Taxi service is available to transport your gear to the cabin.

Immerse yourself in the charm of a European Ski Chalet-style village, where a welcoming local community and a variety of activities await. Whether you're here to enjoy the sun and sand in the summer or the thrill of the slopes in the winter, our cabin is the perfect base for your Bear Valley adventure.

Great ski in/out destination

If you’re looking to get snowbound and relax, it’s hard to do better than going here. Javan is a welcoming and attentive host, and his place is well appointed in a beautiful neighborhood. If you come here in the winter, be aware that you need to be comfortable maneuvering in the snow!

Cozy Winter Getaway

If you need to scratch the itch of cabin living and skiing until your legs give out, this is a great location. Watching the sunset from the hot tub was a highlight. Javan was responsive, kind, and helped us through a few hiccups during our stay. Two things people should know is that all neighbourhood roads are closed during winter months, you will need to park your car near the general store and hike uphill 30min or rent a snowmobile taxi for you, your dog and belongings (which need to be waterproof). Ski-in access is only possible when the Home Run or Lunch Run paths are open. It’s not safe to backcountry because of creeks and cliffs (we heard some gnarly stories). Otherwise you have to grab the shuttle and hike up with your boots. I look forward to returning if the local snowmobile rental lets you rent overnight again - unfortunately they are not at this time.

Winter wonderland

We loved our stay but felt like some of the information we were given was out dated. There are no longer snow mobile rentals in bear valley so the only option for getting to the cabin was a snow taxi. We also didn't realize that we needed to arrive before 5 pm for this to happen and luckily made it in time. Don, who runs the snow taxi, was wonderful. It was fun for all of us to ski down from the cabin and then took some planning to get a ride back up each day. The cabin was comfortable and a great space for two adults and 3 kids. The area is beautiful and we hiked up to the ridge for some beautiful sunsets in the snow.

Magical peace and serenity.

We stayed for the weekend to celebrate a friends recent marriage and ride the slopes together. We arrived to find a fully rideable community with groomed streets and fun terrain everywhere. The ride from the cabin to the car was almost as fun as the resort, if laps were more doable, we probably wouldn't have left. Bear Valley Resort even has runs and a village side of the mountain that feeds into town when enough snow has fallen to accommodate. The community is very clean and all the town folk are talkative and friendly. The pizza shop is a pretty happening spot, good drinks, great food and a nice atmosphere. The attached General store is helpful with a pretty decent selection for being so far out. Once at the cabin, you dont want to leave. The views, sunrise and set, the stars, the quiet are all intoxicating and cant be overlooked. Having the ability to light a fire or use of more common creature comforts like central heating are always a plus in the winter months. The cabin is well equipped with everything you would need to show up and only leave when forced to. Board games, a huge dining table for every activity possible, and a smart TV already loaded with streaming apps ready to play, what more could you need? How about a perfectly equipped kitchen. The couch is the crown jewel of the living room, perfect for movie nights and able to hold more people than you can bring with you. The decks on both sides for viewing, the hot tub! A record player and records. Perfection.

A little slice of heaven!

This was our 3rd stay at this property and we still pinch ourselves every time we are here! Its such a special spot, very cozy and has everything we need (we especially love snow play followed by relaxing in the hot tub!) The property manager Bob was very responsive to all our questions and very kind. We can't recommend this property enough!

Winter Wonderland

We had a wonderful stay at Terry’s house. It’s a beautiful house set up higher in the neighborhood and very peaceful, with stunning views. House was well stocked with towels, paper goods, firewood, games, cooking spices & oil, working appliances and great heating. Both beds were bad back friendly too. We arrived after a big snowstorm, so Bob the property manager, had lots of snow removal to do before we showed. Unfortunately, the house was not completely cleaned when we arrived which was a bummer, but cleaning supplies were readily on hand, so we helped vacuum, wipe down surfaces and clean the upstairs bathroom. We noticed some info discrepancies from what VRBO sent, regarding WiFi password and lock box code. Bob had all the info, so it wasn’t an issue, but maybe something to look into. Also number of bed descriptions could likely get updated too. The couch does not fold out into a bed downstairs. It’s a gorgeous and comfortable couch now with two automatic recliners. We enjoyed watching movies on this fancy couch. My kiddo wants to come back every weekend, to ski, sled, snowball fight, hot tub and play in the snow. We’d absolutely come every weekend if we could. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home and this special refuge in nature with us.

Wow! So much better than last year!

All we can say is this was a total surprise! The cabin was super clean, the furniture has been updated. The firewood was ready for us. There is a new big screen tv in the main room. All the linens smelled fresh and clean. And let’s talk about the new deck. OMG! One level, amazing views, custom railings that are perfect for leaning on. Hot tub was ready for us and very clean. We love this place and will come back again! And it’s not even ski season yet😘

Did not meet cleanliness expectations

Very dirty home that smelled like cat pee. There was so much trash and junk in the yard- broken furniture, broken snow toys, broken tools, and literal trash was all around the house. Decks are not functional at all and very dangerous to be on. We were surprised that the complaints in previous reviews (some from July 2021) have not yet been updated. I am reporting this property to VRBO. I would never stay here again.

About the host

Hosted by Javan Bryant

Host profile image
This cabin is hosted by a small group of friends that live in San Francisco. We wanted a place to call our own to unwind, hike, ski, snowboard, and fish! We hope that you enjoy the cabin as much as we do. We bought this property for our use, and we are happy to share it with others when we cannot get up there.

Why they chose this property

In the summer it is a perfect place to drive up, park, and spend all weekend biking around the village, hiking trails, and sailing/canoeing around the lake.

In the winter, we enjoy skiing down to the village and grabbing the shuttle to the ski resort. For lunch we ski straight home from the resort, eat, and ski back down the shuttle. At the end of the day, we ski home and have a soak in the hot tub.

It's pretty much everything I wanted in a cabin.

What makes this property unique

Our cabin is well cared for and our own home away from home. We keep it well-appointed because we use everything there. A lot of owners fill their rental with inexpensive throw-away furniture, but we strive to offer a warm, welcoming feel. Some of our favorite things are up there because we want to feel at-home when we visit instead of feeling like we are in a hotel. This warmth is there to greet our guests as well and we hope that our anyone who stays enjoys it as much as we do.
