About this property
The Buck Road Abode
Come relax with the whole family at this peaceful place in the country not far from New Bern, Greenville, the Original Washington and our beautiful Carolina beaches. Also known as the “Mary Alice Palace”, it was built in 1954 with lumber harvested from the property. We've added modern upgrades during renovations while trying to keep the charm of the original design. It offers 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room (with pullout couch), dining room (w/ work space), kitchen, and breakfast nook. Thanks for looking! The space House built in 1954 that we tried to update to a rustic feel while keeping its original charm. Spacious living room with full bed pullout couch. Also has smart tv so you can stream from your streaming services. We have mifi for internet. Dining room with a separate work space. Big kitchen with dishwasher, stove, microwave, fridge, and coffee bar, as well as all basic amenities. Kitchen nook with nice view of backyard. 1 bathroom with original cast iron tub and tile. Everything else updated. 3 bedrooms (queen, full, and twin bed). We have a pack and play and a baby bouncer at the property. Back deck with gas grill and 2 chairs and side table. Guest access You can access the entire property, except the barn in back and carport. We are renovating the barn and carport so we ask that you do not go in them as it would be unsafe

Thank you for helping discover the problem a previous client brought in undetected. Once discovered with your help, we gave you a full refund and shut down the house for a month plus to bring back the exterminator and fully eradicate the problem and do a deep clean to ensure there are no more issues.
Our stay was great! The house was very big and clean! Plenty of room for our dog to roam around. Brian was attentive to getting back to me with questions and was in a great location.

It was great hosting you! We look forward to seeing you again!
Visited family here in eastern NC. Two grand-kids stayed here with me. No problems! Hosts made sure we had everything we needed! Very convenient to all we wanted to do in Craven County!! Many thanks to the hosts!!
The home was in great shape, very clean and completely stocked with everything you’d find in your own home!! Everything!!! We just moved to the New Bern area and their home was exactly what our family needed as we transitioned. 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs!! We loved it!! We will be renting their home again when family from out of town come to visit!!!! A huge thank you to Brian and his family!! They have done an outstanding job with this VRBO property!!
Came to visit our son and his new bride for 4th of July weekend. The house is older but the updates make it feel VERY homey. We also got an awesome treat on the night of the 4th! The neighbors across the street … approximately 1000’ from the front porch put on a 20+ minute fireworks show. They definitely spent a good bit of money because it was a great show! While our son is in N.C., whenever we go visit we will book the Abode if available.
There is not a lot in the small town of Vance and that was perfect for us! We went to spend time with our son and new daughter-in-law and being off the beaten path was PERFECT. There is a Food Lion grocery, gas stations and dollar stores about 5 mins from the house, so you can get all you need right in town to make your stay at the Abode a great family experience.
