We had a wonderful time at Shady Pines! After a cancelled flight which inconvenienced 3 of 4 members of our group so they arrived a day late, we all had a wonderful time staying in Hill City and exploring the Black Hills. We did a chuck wagon dinner leaving from Blue Bell Lodge, took the Iron Mountain Road Scenic drive to Mount Rushmore, visited Devils Tower Monument, Deadwood, drove the Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park, attended the Buffalo Round Up, drove the Needles Hwy and visited Crazy Horse. The property was spacious, comfortable and beautiful inside and out. We especially appreciated the beautiful sealed floor design, the motivational wall art, and the hospitable touches of chilled water bottles, breakfast bars, coffee. There is a well appointed kitchen with cutlery, cookware and appliances. The laundry room with 2 sets of washers and dryers plus ample laundry detergent was also a great amenity. We didn’t have a chance to make use of the outdoor area because our daily activities left us tired when we returned. Jim and June are wonderful attentive hosts and went the extra mile for us a couple of ways. First, a cricket was somewhere inside on Monday evening that was not obvious. Jim had not experienced that issue in the past and researched how to draw it out. Problem solved early on Tuesday! We asked if they might have some chairs we could borrow for the Buffalo Round Up. On Thursday evening, camp chairs in bags were on the porch when we returned on Thursday evening!
