Welcome to Sunset Sanctuary on Smith Lake - your tranquil retreat nestled in the heart of Alabama. With its unparalleled lake views and serene surroundings, this house is the epitome of Southern comfort and charm.

The heart of our home is undoubtedly the expansive deck, which offers breathtaking views of the shimmering Smith Lake. A private dock with 1x boat slip (26ft x 10ft) extends into the lake, making it ideal for swimming, fishing, launching a kayak, or docking your boat or boat rental.

Come and create unforgettable memories on Smith Lake.

As you step inside this beautiful 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house, you'll be greeted by a warm, inviting space filled with natural light and a calming neutral palette. The interior is tastefully decorated, featuring rustic yet modern amenities that perfectly blend comfort and style. The spacious living room, equipped with a flat-screen TV and plush seating, is the perfect place to unwind and catch up with loved ones.

The heart of our home is undoubtedly the expansive deck, which offers breathtaking views of the shimmering Smith Lake. The deck is equipped with a barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor furniture, setting the scene for memorable cookouts and sunsets that paint the sky with hues of orange and pink.


Please note this is a split foyer floor plan — the use of stairs is required to access all bedrooms and living areas.

Guest access
Guests will have full use of our 2 kayaks including paddles and life jackets. The use of the boat dock slip to store your own boat or rental boat is available. The slip is 10’ wide and 26’ long. There is a boat lift designed for a pontoon that may be used if suitable for your boat type. Easily launch your own boat or rent one at the Duncan Bridge Marina - only a short 10-minute drive away!

We really enjoyed staying in such a nice lake house for a few days. The inside is nice and clean. Enjoyed swimming off the boat house dock too. Great sunsets.

House was perfect for our family. Living space both upstairs and downstairs. Lake views are amazing and the location on the lake is perfect for boating either north of Duncan Marina or past the dam in the other direction. Also, the dock and shoreline are situated so you have beautiful water and boat docking even at low levels (it was down about 6 feet from full pool for our weekend).

We had an awesome time at the lake house! Extremely clean and tidy. Had everything that we needed. Kids had a blast swimming and using the kayaks. Was close enough to visit with relatives also! Would recommend highly!

Relaxing time at the lake

Great, relaxing spot on the lake! The screened porch was great for enjoying the nice weather with a great view of the lake. We have two kids, both 8, and they had a blast playing on the dock, in the water, and throughout the house. Kayaking was also a lot of fun! Overall, we have no complaints and would definitely stay here again!

Lovely property with peaceful views of the lake and thoughtful considerations like extension cords and nice toiletries. The only critical feedback was some confusion over the actual address. Neither the VRBO listing, nor our messages provided the exact address (South was missing) which made it stressful with such a late arrival. However, we will definitely consider renting again!

Perfect family lakehouse

I don’t normally leave reviews but this home deserves one. This home had it all. The location was very easy to get to. The walk to the water was much easier than many that we saw. The view was GORGEOUS! The 2 living rooms was perfect for our teenaged boys to have their own space while we could relax and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the night. Grocery store, gas stations, and dollar general all within 5-10 min drive. Plenty of dishes (we forgot paper plates but went and got some after the first night). Lots of space to eat inside or out. I appreciated the makeup towel & full length mirror on the back of the doors. The boys loved the kayaks! We are looking forward to booking here again!
