Getaway Prospect Bay Cottage close to Prospect Village/Peggy's Cove/Halifax

This gem of a cottage while right on the water is sheltered by trees allowing for both gorgeous views and privacy. Your own exclusive wharf provides for great swimming and a small pebbly beach when the tide is out. The cottage is 20 minutes to Peggy's Cove 30 minutes to downtown Halifax. Picturesque, historic Prospect Village is only a 5-minute drive where one of the best hiking trails can be found in Nova Scotia.
Getaway cottage is right on Prospect Bay ~the parking pad is at the top of the road and there are 12 steps with railings that take you to the cottage ~ and then a gentle incline to the cottage's wharf. The cottage comes fully furnished with linens AND WIFI internet service. The cottage is ideal for a young family, one couple and at maximum three adults. The cottage sleeps 5 guests comfortably in 3 small bedrooms. One has a set of bunks the second bedroom has a single bed and the third bedroom has a double bed. A minimum stay is 4 nights. We are pet friendly but only one dog is welcome per booking with the caveat that everything is left clean

Lovely waterfront cottage

This rustic cottage was perfect for our stay in NS. Close to Halifax and about an hour away from Lunenburg, it was a great place for a quiet getaway Our host, Janice, was extremely attentive to our needs.

Perfect spot between the city and nature.

What a great little cottage on the water. Right in nature but close enough to everything. There's a costco / walmart at 18 min drive. Place has everything needed for a good stay. You can enjoy the city or walk the shores for hours. We really enjoyed this place. Janice was super nice and helpful during our stay.

Quiet, Private, Comfort.

This cottage is well located for day trips along the coast to Lunenburg, or nearby attractions like Peggy's Cove, the Flight 111 Memorial, and others, and less than 1/2 hour into Halifax. Very scenic area. The cottage was really well equipped and truly comfortable as a cottage should be.

Perfect anniversary retreat

My husband and I had the opportunity to celebrate our first wedding anniversary at the Getaway Cottage in Prospect Village - and we hope to return again next year! The cottage was very clean, cosy and quiet, and had everything we needed onsite. We took advantage of the wood-stove in the evenings and spent much of our time on the dock enjoying the beautiful fall scenery.

Cozy and rustic spot with a nice dock on beautiful Prospect Bay. Close to many great locations for hiking near coastline but also close to Halifax for day trips on rainy days. Janice was always responsive and helpful.

Wonderful cottage. It was perfect! The view from the dock is incredible. We were able to see the tide go up and down. It’s so relaxing listening to the waves. I would definitely recommend. Janice is quick to respond.

Great location and water front

The place is perfectly situated and the water front is a million dollar view. The place is very cottage/cabiny so just be prepared for buggy things, spiders etc that you'd expect from any cottage in the woods. The bathroom and bathroom window are in need of updating, but it gets the job done. A lovely place with a bit of ruggedness, but all in all a great place to stay.

Nice scenic area, enjoyed sitting on the dock and enjoying the ocean and a drink. Enjoyed a barbecue on the deck with friends. The walk down the path and stairs can be a challenge for more elderly people though. But all in all a nice place to relax and enjoy a vacation. Owner was very helpful and kind and quick to address any concers.

Because of the lack of swimming (jellyfish in the water) or water activities available, the layout of the dock & yard, and the small size of the cottage, we would not come back with our family or even with adults only to this cottage.

Prospect cottage NS

Very nice cottage by the sea shore with a wharf and small beach.. Friendly helpful owners who reside nearby and respond to needs and questions quickly and fix what might need fixing. Price was very fair. We stayed for 3 weeks, which was longer then owners were accustomed to so we could have used a washing machine, which it did not have. But we had a work-around and that was manageable. All in all, well worth it and owners helpful and friendly.

Great Father/Daughter get-a-way property.

This charming cottage was just right. We had trouble flying into Halifax Int'l (2 days) and the owner couldn't be more understanding. It was located near several hiking trails (we did) & close to Peggy's Cove Lighthouse. We got many pics here. I really enjoy watching the sunrise over my vacations & Prospect Bay did not disappoint. I took many pics of the sunrise too. The owner had several recommendations for the hiking trails & very good local (not to touristy) restaurants. We averaged 5mi/8km per day hiking. I would recommend "Gateway Prospect Cottage" for a return trip.

Our first visit out East.

Property was beautiful. It was an extremely cool week , going as low as 8C at night for June 20th-27th. Only means of heating place was a small stove in dining/living room. Had to buy wood as we burned through their supply within one night. Love the fact that the weather was cool enough that outdoor activities were enjoyable. Janice and Dan are super friendly and easy to deal with. Thanks J for always answering texts within a fast time frame.

Great getaway close to Halifax

A very conveniently located property. The property is right on the water and a small yard for a fire, nestled in the woods. Because it is so beautifully nestled in the woods there are quite a few steps and a hill that leads down to the cottage so this is not for someone who has any mobility issues. It feels like you are deep in the woods. The water was warmer than I expected and the crabs and starfish were daily entertainment for the children. There is a local convenience that is a short walk or 1 minute drive away and this was very helpful for getting a few things while being able to not disrupt the vacation experience. The cottage is cozy and rustic. It was perfect for a cottage feel vs. a home feel. It was relaxing as a family. The neighbours even stopped by via kayak to say hi to us while we are sitting on the dock. We went in the water every day for a swim. If you want a relaxing getaway close to Halifax this is great to unwind.

We really enjoyed this cottage holiday. Our only difficulty was with the poor visibility of driveway at road and the pathway to the cottage. It was a combination of stairs and gravel and was treacherous for our aged father. Once in the cottage however, everything was lovely.

Lakefront Vacation

Really enjoyed our stay. Great to have our tea/coffee on the dock each morning…so quiet and relaxing. Nice to come back to the cozy cottage after a day of sightseeing. Location was perfect…close to a number of attractions (Peggy’s Cove, Polly Cove, Halifax). Kitchen was well-stocked with pots/pans and dishes. Janice was very helpful and always timely in her responses. Some things to note: challenging to locate parking pad, parking pad is small…it was a bit of a tight squeeze with our Ford SUV. Steps down to cottage quite slippery when wet. Thanks Janice for making our stay wonderful!

My family and I purchased this cottage when our children were little and certainly enjoyed the best days of our lives on Prospect Bay.

Why they chose this property

Prospect Bay although is stunningly beautiful somehow remains the best secret in Nova Scotia. Its very tranquil yet close to Halifax .

What makes this property unique

This cottage is unique in its setting. Once you arrive you are guaranteed privacy but located perfectly to carry on exploring Nova Scotia's South Shore or to pop into Halifax.
