About this property

7 Miles to Downtown! Private Treehouse + Woods

About this space
Rising from the forest floor - as if grown, not built - stands The Riverbend Treehouse. Immerse yourself in the canopy of the mixed deciduous forest and feel worlds away in this newly renovated masterpiece. Located 12 minutes from The University of Tennessee campus and downtown Knoxville, The Riverbend Treehouse is the perfect hideaway.
The space
Designed and constructed in the late 1970’s by prominent architect, Frank Sparkman. The Sparkman’s cared for the home and the land for over 50 years. In 2023, The Treehouse underwent an extensive renovation aiming to honor the modernist design with natural materials, a clean color palette and copious amounts of glazing.

The Riverbend Treehouse features a private bedroom with a king size bed, a 2nd floor sitting area with a couch that converts to a sleeper with memory foam mattress, and a 3rd floor loft with full size bunk beds and its own sitting area.

There are two full bathrooms in the Treehouse. One bathroom is located on the main floor and has one sink and bathtub/shower. The 2nd floor bathroom features double sinks and a large walk in shower. There is also a full size washer and dryer in the bathroom on the 2nd floor.

Upon arriving at the property, you cannot help but notice the organic architecture of this hillside home. The Riverbend Treehouse has a steep driveway from the main road down to the property. There is parking for 2 cars. The elevation of the home’s main level is quite elevated. Accordingly, there are several steps. In addition to the steps from the driveway to the front door, there are steps from the main floor to reach the primary bedroom and 2nd floor living area. Additionally, there is a ladder/stairs to reach the 3rd floor loft area.

The back deck includes a gas grill and a small patio set. Both the front and back decks are perfect for morning coffee while taking in the surrounding woods, or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening enjoying the sounds of nature help you unwind.

Don't be surprised to see some of the many deer, turkey, foxes etc that frequent the property, and remember to please be kind to our forest friends.

The Treehouse has WIFI and two smart tv’s. For news, sports, or other shows, we provide YouTube TV but also have Netflix and Disney+ apps ready for you to login.

Owners live nearby and are available for any issues that may arise during your stay.
Guest access
Electronic keypad entry on main level. Guests will have access to the entire house as well as the surrounding woods.
Other things to note
Check in is at 3pm the date of your arrival and check out is at 10am the date of your departure. If the cottage is ready early, we will alert you.

Super cool experience

This was a really cool house! Super comfortable beds, and VERY clean! Every morning we would wake up to deer walking around the property! Really cool!

A Lovely, if Vertically Challenging, Sweet Spot

Staying in this clean, comfortable, quiet home for our 2-day stay gave us just the respite and relaxation we needed - this place feels both luxurious and rustic at the same time - hits the sweet spot for anyone who likes nature but not camping! My teen daughter took the top-most room, my son pulled out the couch on the mid-level, and my wife and I had the gorgeous main bedroom. It was spacious enough for us not to feel cramped. Our only caveats: We had no idea how STEEP the driveway would be - on the dark, rainy night we arrived, it was startling and unnerving. And: there's a lot of very small stairs in the house. So if you're not sure on your tires or feet, this isn't a good match. Still, the styling and cleanliness of the place was perfecto. Thank you so much!
