Catch & Release Fishing Stocked with largemouth bass, multiple species of sunfish, and channel catfish the pond is slowly becoming a great 'ole fishin' hole in the middle of our mountain paradise. In 2014 two gazebos and a memorial garden were added to the south end of the pond. Fern Flats Originally purchased by the association to extend the greenway system, the area to the west of the pond is known as Fern Flats for its level terrain and abundance of ferns and flora. A mulched walking trail, including a hammock nestled beside the stream that serves as one of its borders, helps make this area a truly hidden treasure of the mountain.
Hiking Staghorn Falls Located near the middle of the community on Staghorn Road, this 65' tall waterfall provides a beautiful backdrop for relaxation. There on your left you'll find Adirondack chairs nestled around large boulders to provide a front-row view of the falls. Basin Overlook A short two and one-half minute walk from the parking area at Staghorn falls brings you to the east side of the falls, where you'll find a side trail and short run of stairs down to the Basin Overlook. This private, tranquil viewing area is hidden from the road and provides an excellent respite from the stress of daily life. You'll find four comfortable chairs, plus a hammock tucked around the corner for that afternoon nap. Falls Summit Add another two minutes to your walk and you'll find yourself at the top of Staghorn Falls, where you'll find a glider and chairs situated alongside the stream that leaps from the summit. This was our third time staying at the house. We love it and plan on coming back again! The house is very well kept and we love all the upgrades they have been doing outside the house. Buck mountain is beautiful! We love hiking the trails.

My girlfriend and I had a great stay at the cabin. The area and property were beautiful, and the cabin itself was very cozy. The hot tub was also a great addition.
This was the most relaxing mini-vacation we've taken in a long time. The cabin was perfect! We loved sitting on the porch swing, listening to the birds, enjoying morning coffee on the deck and relaxing in the hot tub after our hikes to the falls. We will definitely return!
This was the perfect getaway for my girlfriend and I. The host was excellent and very attentive, Anthony and Amy were very helpful and made sure we had what was needed. They also sent links for places to eat, sceneries and things to do near purlear. The cabin was very nice and we awoke to a great view every morning. Would highly recommend this cabin and the host!

Thank you for visiting our little getaway and we are glad you enjoyed the cabin and the area.

We really enjoyed this trip because we could do as much or as little as we wanted and this was the perfect place to do just that. It takes about 15 minutes from house to the gate, but from there we went 20-30 minutes to visit N Wilkesboro, Blowing Rock, Boone, West Jefferson etc. There are trails that lead to multiple waterfalls and we didn't see anyone else like you do on others - a true highlight of the gated community.
The online photos show little of the views this place offers! Very near the top of the mountain, it is truly Heaven on earth! Had it not been for the full moon, we would've had an even greater view of the stars. It was SO peaceful. Thank you so much! It was just what we wanted and needed!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at our little getaway. We are trying to improve it little by little.

The drive up Buck Mountain is not to be underestimated. You will be fine in a car if there’s no snow. Go slow and use a lower gear in spots as needed. We didn’t try coming up or down after sunset.
The property is fantastic. The pictures really don’t do it justice.
It’s super quiet and almost at the end of the road, so you’ll probably not see or hear anyone most of the time while you’re at the cabin.
It has a ton of natural light coming in. The hot tub is on the bottom level and there aren’t steps from the deck. So you’ll need to go out the front door and around and down to get to it. But it’s very good and has a wonderful view.
The cabin has just about everything you’ll need inside. A fully stocked kitchen with every appliance needed if you want to cook meals. Every lightbulb works and everything is super clean when you get there.
We fully enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again!
Amy and I live at the Coast of South Carolina. (North Myrtle). She is the beach person, and I am the Mountain person. We both enjoy spending time listening to nature, spending time on the water and riding our ATV or hiking on the trails at Buck Mountain. We want to share our piece of buck mountain with others.
