Spacious and unique

We stayed a week here with two other couples while we enjoyed Musikfest. There was plenty of space to relax and enjoy some down time. There were some cobwebs on the two porches and in the high ceilings and we had to spray for some ants in the kitchen, but overall the house was clean and well maintained. One misadventure was that the house alarm hadn't been disarmed before we arrived and we set it off, resulting in a visit from the local police before it was sorted out. Parking is tight for more than two cars. We enjoyed watching deer browse in the backyard several mornings. In addition to Musikfest, we made a day trip to Philadelphia and visited a couple of local brew pubs. I would recommend the house to people visiting the area, particularly larger families or a group of friends.

Family Wedding

This house was perfect for our family to gather. The location was perfect. Other than being able to gear the traffic, you would never guess that you were in the suburbs!

Family Get-Away

The house is unusual, artistic and is set on a private large lot that overlooks a river. Large windows provide lots of natural light and excellent view of nature. Very quiet and private setting. Also very clean.

We had a nice time staying here. There are plenty of bedrooms and places to hang out together or to get some privacy. But the best part are the huge windows in the kitchen and dining room that look out into the very private back yard. We saw a family of deer playing there every day we were there.

We had a lovely stay. The house was perfect for our needs. I would not recommend it for toddlers or even small children. Two open staircases and the railing upstairs could be very dangerous for small ones. It was in a great location for us. We had family in Allentown, went to NYC and Princeton all within the week. Very centrally located. Plenty of room for 6 of us.

Comfortable Property

We stayed at this property while visiting our family for a reunion and it was perfect for our use. My son and his wife flew in to Philly from the west coast, the airport is less than 90 minutes away. The rest of us (my son and daughter-in-law with grandchild, another son, my wife and I) drove up from the south. The pictures really can't capture how large and comfortable this house is. All of us had plenty of room to get together for meals or just talk, and if one of us needed to get away for a nap (the grand baby) there were plenty of quiet bedrooms to get away to. One word of caution that I must make: the open stairway in the center of the house was not "toddler friendly" in that the balusters on the railings were far enough apart that a child could fall between them. We quickly remedied this by using a temporary toddler fence around them. What a pleasure to wake up in the morning and look out the windows of the back of the house to the garden view. Twice we saw deer in the distance. The Old Orchard location is perfect, an established neighborhood with wonderful old trees, close to everything that the Lehigh Valley offers. We would highly recommend this property and look forward to using it again for future trips home.

Graduation stay

We rented this house for daughter's graduation from Lafayette. The house was immaculate, extremely comfortable and very quiet, while being close to all necessities. Would definitely rent again, but unfortunately will probably not have the need.

Perfect

We rented this property as our daughter was recently married in Bethlehem, PA with the reception in Easton & this home was absolutely perfect as our "home base"!! We were extremely happy with everything about the home which is kept very clean inside and out the beautiful grounds!! We would not hesitate for a moment to rent this home again - is perfect for any type of family function!

Just what we needed

We rented this property for immediate family during my daughter's wedding weekend. Plenty of space for everyone. Nicely decorated with beautiful grounds. We were 15-20 mins from both the rehearsal dinner at one Country Club, and the wedding at a different Country Club. People commented that we could have had the wedding in the huge back yard! The basement was a bit musty upon arrival but aired out over time. No screens on the windows was a disappointment. All of the rooms had one bed which might not work for some. Overall, we were delighted with this choice!

Great place for family!

Property was "as advertised", Conveniently located and spacious. With 6 adults and 2 infants, plenty of room to spread out and each family have its own space. It worked perfectly for us. The only negative to speak of was the staircase which ran up the center of the house form the basement to the third floor. With a 15 month old walker and 9 month old crawler, we had to be on alert. We got thru it OK and had a great stay.

Sharing a House from Across the Country

You can not capture the Grand Canyon or the Drum Corp experience in pictures quite like you experience them in person. It is the same for the house and property on Chain Dam Road. The house is amazing and quirky with wooden staircase in the center of the home and rooms fanning out from mid, lower, and higher levels. We enjoyed using the pool table and guitar. We happened to have a guitar player in our party and it was easily tuned. The large picture windows everywhere were very Frank Lloyd Wright-esque, so we felt surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors constantly. The home was inviting, relaxing, and the rooms were large. No disappointments. The washer, dryer, plumbing, electric, and air worked very well. The yard was great for Frisbee throwing, exploring, bird watching, and seeing an occasional deer. The bike path along the road was conducive to walking or hiking. The dam was less than a mile away for viewing. We assigned breakfast, lunch, and snacks to family members and everyone had fun preparing meals to share. Eating together was great fun and convenient to do. The Wi-Fi and cable were easy to use and came in handy for us to preview some Drum Corp International entertainment before the shows: the main reason we were there. The DCI shows were in Allentown at the J. Birney Crum Stadium which was only a 30 minute drive away from the Chain Dam house. We were only 4.5 miles from anything we needed: i.e. Wal-mart, Sam's Club, Wegman's, other shopping, local dining, chain dining, and much more. Some of our more cautious family members brought their own linens: sheets and towels, but they found that it was not necessary to use them. Everything was clean. We also enjoyed sitting outside on the patio furniture, and we used the propane grill once for burgers and hot dogs. There were no major down sides to our experience, but since nothing is perfect here are a couple minor issues. Since we had never done anything like this before, we were a bit nervous that we never actually talked to anyone during the entire process. We felt like we were taking a major leap into the unknown. I like everything online and digital, but making the reservations and paying out the money from 3000 miles away was a bit unnerving. Yet, we kept going, and we are glad that we did. The only thing we wish the house had on hand was a 9 x 13 baking dish. We improvised fine. All other utensils were well stocked. Bottom floor musty. The consensus was: let's do it again!

Great vacation

We rented this house for a family Christmas reunion: 9 adults, 1 child, 1 baby, 1 dog and 1 cat. We each found a comfortable room to stay, there were enough bathrooms for everyone, and the dog could run freely outside. There were multiple hanging out spots in the house too, so we could each do different activities: pool table downstairs, TV room, reading area, kitchen, basket ball outside, gym, music room, etc. but there was also enough space to all sit at a table together for dinner. There is a run/walk path along the river about 5 min from the house which was great to walk the dog and to go jogging. Other than that we didn't really visit the area, we just enjoyed each other's company in this comfortable and beautifully designed house.

Had a great stay - will be back!

I would highly recommend this place. I stayed a week at the house with my wife and daughter just to get out of the city. The house is very unique and we spent more time inside than anticipated. We liked the large windows to the back of the house and the view to the garden. We may bring more family the next time because the house is perfect for a family gathering. We’ve been to the Lehigh Valley so we know the area. It’s great for hiking and my wife and daughter like the malls there. We will be back.

Our family moved into this house in 2007. Due to our work we are no longer able to live in Easton full time and therefore started to rent this home. Our family celebrated many events here and the memories are precious. We stopped renting the house and re-listed the property for occasional rental while we are gone. If you would like to get away to catch a break and still like to be in the middle of everything this is the perfect place for you. The house is near everything and yet so private when you need quiet. We left a lot of books in the house if you like to read. The house is an older house so please don't expect the perfect luxury but rather a very organic and artistic setting. My heart is filled with happiness every time I am there. Occasionally you will see the deer or fox in the garden. There is a bike trail behind the house next to the river perfect for running, biking or hiking. The Lehigh Valley Mall is 16 miles from the house or you can just drive up to Tannersville to the Crossings Premium Outlets which is about 30 miles from the house. They have fantastic deals there.

Why they chose this property
