We had a wonderful stay, the cottage was clean and above expectations. Our host Julie was amazing as she helped me arrange to have flowers for my wife waiting upon our arrival. We will definitely be back!

Thank you very much for yiur kind words. We are so pleased you enjoyed yiur stay and sincerely hope you think of us for any future visits back here in the Pacific Northwest!
Very nice host, private lovely accommodation, close to river and trails stunning location for outdoor adventures or relaxing and enjoying the view. Already plan on booking again soon.
My sister and I loved this cottage and felt so welcomed by Julie, the owner. The layout of the kitchen suited us to a T. We adored our stay and wished we had booked more nights.
Very clean and inviting cottage. Everything we needed was there and functioning properly. Very homey and comfortable. Great place to get away from it all. Hosts are super friendly and approachable. An Elk herd visited the pasture next to the cottage a few mornings. Property is fenced-in, so no fear of wildlife coming right to the house.
Lovely, well equipped, clean property & wonderful host. Amazing place to get away from it all, though lack of cell service can pose a bit of frustration when trying to map out destinations. Restaurant options at Lake Cowichan are very minimal and not great, so plan on driving at least 20-30min to find more. The nearby river is SO beautiful and excellent for swims, a river float & hikes.
This is a lovely property and has all possible amenities . The TV was challenging for a bit until I remembered my Netflix password. Would stay there again in a heartbeat

Thank you very much for your kind review. We hope that the rain held off and the Cowichan Gravel Crusher went well!
Very nice and friendly hosts that own the property. They showed us around. Very clean and well equipped kitchen. Brand new bathrooom. Super close to flyfishing on Cowachian River and great nearby hikes along the river. The morning and evening visits from elk herd were amazing!

The cottage is uniquely and beautifully decorated, and very well maintained. We had a spacious fenced terrace that opened to nature, and we even watched a bear while eating our dinner. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The best part is that this place is far from the noise and light pollution of the cities, surrounded by nature sounds, yet it is still a very short drive to Lake Cowichan village.
This is a gem of a property, if you're looking for something quiet, serene, and a little off the beaten path. The cottage is perfect - well-appointed, comfortable, and stocked with everything you need (and some things you didn't know you needed, like a bocce set!). Julie is the consummate host and made us feel so welcome and looked after. We cannot recommend this property highly enough - even though we should't, because we have big plans to come back as many times as we can and would be sad to miss it on our next trip out because YOU booked it! :)

About the host
Hosted by Julie Woodward
Allan and Julie are self-employed in the Water Remediation industry although we are semi-retired now. We live in the main house on the property which is kept very private from the cottage. Allan loves to build and fix things and is always working on projects around the property. Allan is a longtime Vancouver Islander and is a terrific resource for all things Vancouver Island. Julie moved to the island from the mainland in 2018 to marry Allan (on the Skutz Falls Bridge) and loves living in the country and caring for the fruit and vegetable gardens. Julie also loves to run or hike the many amazing trails on the doorstep.
Why they chose this property
We are out in the country but situated on a dead end road with a handful of neighboring acreages. We are located at the top of a 530 ft hill. A 5-10 minute walk downhill takes you to the Cowichan River and the Provincial Park and trails.
What makes this property unique
We have a large field that we leave open for roaming elk herds to come for visits! They also help keep the grass cut down while we sit and watch! There are also two ponds, one much larger, with an island that is great for swimming or using the pedal boat, but both are great for attracting tons of dragon flies, many birds, and other wildlife. Within the fenced yard are blueberry bushes and grape vines for added interest while the interior of the cottage is uniquely designed with seashell tile insets, fishing rods for curtain rods and much more.
