About this property
Boatel California Stay on a 40’ boat - best location in Ventura Harbor Gr8 Views
Best location in the Harbor with gorgeous sunset and harbor views, just below all the restaurants, live music, Deep Sea Wine tasting, famous ice cream shop, boutique shops, and more. We are also a very short walk from Island Packers and just across from the gorgeous beach! It is a boat so more like a large Floating RV than a hotel! There is plenty of room to sleep and relax. FREE high Speed WIFI! The boat doesn't ever leave the dock. You will get to experience living on a boat, but since it is always attached to the dock you will never have to worry about sea sickness! It is less than 100 feet to all the action at Ventura Harbor Village! The space Also search for our sister Boatel, Ventura Boatel, on VRBO. Our Boatel is on the water and permanently moored in the heart of Ventura Harbor Village with lots of great restaurants, shops, wine tasting, boat rentals, live music, fishing charters, Island Packers for trips to the Islands, great beach right across the street, and more. There are 2 staterooms, one with a very comfortable Queen size bed and additional twin size bed along with full bath with shower and one 1/2 bath front crew room with bunk beds suitable for smaller adults or teenagers and there is a convertible double couch bed in the living room. The salon has a couch, dining table and a TV/DVD/Netflix for evening enjoyment. The galley has a full refrigerator, kitchen sink, microwave, drip coffee maker (with a starter pack of coffee) and is fully equipped with other small appliances such as Electric Skillet, Crock Pot, hot water heater for tea/cocoa/soup, plates, glasses, etc. There is a covered deck (fantail) for dining and harbor viewing. We now have high speed internet/WiFi so you can work remotely with this incredible view!! We are proud to be CA Green Certified! We do offer compost and recycling bins and encourage their use. Ask about having brunch delivered to your Boatel and other specials. Guest access You have full access of our boat which is permanently moored at the dock. We will show you around then leave you to enjoy the harbor. Please note that no kayaks, SUPS, or other water craft are allowed to be left on the docks even for a minute for safety. You can rent kayaks, SUPs, paddle boats, electric boats near the Boatels at Ventura Boat Rentals. If you want to bring your own, please let us know so we can discuss options of where to put them on board, Harbor rules, etc. If you would like to rent both of our Boatels, see our sister Boatel - Ventura Boatel right here on VRBO. Other things to note We now have high speed internet so you can work remotely with this incredible view, stream Netflix, etc. Remember to pack light. You will be entering your "Boatel" down a dock and up a set of docksteps. We will give you complete instructions for our marine style toilets and showers. The showers work fine but are small like most RV and Boat Showers so we provide keys to the Harbor Shower and Laundry facilities, which are a short walk from the Boatels) for those that want more room (we will give you keys). The front room is 2 bunk style beds suitable for crew or kids 11 and over that don't mind a regular bed style, more like a real sailor!NEVER, EVER put anything down the Head (toilet) EXCEPT the provided Marine toilet safe toilet tissue. I know it sounds yucky, but Marine Heads are notoriously sensitive. Most recently, a Paper Towel was flushed and clogged the Head, burning up the motor, rendering it unusable for the rest of the visit. Guests who flush objects down the Head resulting in plumbing problems will be responsible for the cost of repairs. I can't emphasize the importance of this enough. There is a trash receptacle in provided for items like feminine products, moist towelettes, paper towels, etc.

Amazing experience! It has been my husband‘s dream to sleep overnight on a large boat. This was a beautiful boat with all the amenities that we needed! It is in an absolutely beautiful harbor! We enjoyed just sitting out on the aft deck of the boat and relaxing! And if you’re wondering if the boat rocks, it rocks very little. We never noticed it rocking. We walked to dinner and breakfast which we love to do! We are already planning our next day on this boat!

It was our pleasure to host you two!!! Thank you for the amazing review!!
The boatel was exactly as described, very comfortable, and the location couldn’t have been any better. We came to visit the Channel Islands, and the Island Packers ferry is literally a 2 minute walk. There were so many options for dining within a short walk, and by the time we were ready for bed, it was completely quiet.
Staying on a boat is a last. We loved it. This particular boat had an amazing view of the water. The hosts are wonderful and flexible. Our kids and grandkids came for breakfast to celebrate my husbands birthday and we just relaxed all day! Amazing! Would stay again!

Ventura Outrigger Race stay
The location is perfect to walk to the race, parking and walk to restaurants at the Harbor. The cost is way too high for old boat and the pictures are deceiving compared to reality. Advertised to sleep 6, I would say 3 adults at the most. Shower door doesn’t open far enough to use. Need to walk to the harbor shower area. Boat is old, interior looks old. Can use one of the two bathrooms.

We are very surprised to see this negative review! While we are new on VRBO, we have hundreds of 5 star reviews on ABB, Google, etc. Did you read our description before you booked? Our pictures are recent and accurate. In the first line of our description, it says, "we are like an RV on the water". Our showers work fine but are small like most boat and RV showers so, as a courtesy, we provide the keys to the spacious harbor shower and laundry room - which you can see from the boatel, for those that want more room - most people appreciate this). And, you can use both bathrooms on the boatel - as indicated in the description, one is a marine style flushing toilet and the bow bathroom has an RV/BOAT porta potty which guests are fine to use. We even left the guests a fruit basket and a bottle of champagne which went untouched. Sounds like you did not read the description and were expecting "luxurious" - which we do not claim to be. As our hundreds of 5 star reviews and the recent ones from this month on vrbo indicate, we take guest satisfaction very seriously and when we asked you how everything was going, you said it was nice but it sounded like you had a bad day and didn't place in the race? In the future, if you have an issue with a place you are staying, let your host know right away - if our pictures or description were not up to date or not accurate, we would have made it right but the fact is, we take pictures often to keep them current and our description is 100% spot on to the listing as our hundreds of 5 star reviews indicate. As for pricing, we are very competitive with the harbor hotels and the ventura beach hotels and we have a MUCH better view and experience (for 995 of our guests at least ; ). I encourage anyone reading this review to look up "Boatel California in the beautiful Ventura Harbor" on abb (the other popular site) and see our hundreds of 5 star reviews. If you come for a luxurious hotel stay, we are not your place. If you want a spacious, clean, well stocked Boat on the water steps away from all the action of the Ventura Harbor restaurants, shops, live music, etc we are definitely your place! If anyone has any questions about this, feel free to reach out to us. Thank you. *I did want to add that the boatel you rented had an RV Queen and a single bed in the master, a full size fold out couch in the living room, and 2 bunks in the bow suitable for smaller adults or children over 11 - you can find all of thsi in our descripton as well. We have people with 6 stay all of the time - I would say you would need to be a comfortable crew for that with a couple small people but it has more sleeping arrangements and space than most hotel rooms along with all the amenities mentioned in our listing not common in hotel rooms.
It was our pleasure hosting you. We look forward to welcoming you again when you are ready.

I was born and raised in Ventura and also have a small Dragon Fruit and Pineapple farm on the Big Island of Hawaii (we also have a rental here ; ). I love cooking, fishing, exploring, camping, snorkeling, spending time with friends and family and enjoying life.
Why they chose this property
Ventura Harbor is an event in itself! There are numerous top notch restaurants, bars, live music, shops, comedy club, nail salon, ice cream and chocolate shop, wine tasting, boat rentals, fishing charters, diving charters, National Park, fantastic beach right across the street, lots of great events throughout the year. In my opinion, the nicest harbor on the West Coast.
What makes this property unique
Our Boatels (there are 2) are spacious, comfortable, vintage 40ft boats on the water in the beautiful Ventura Harbor that oftentimes costs less than most hotels in the area with no where near the view or experience. There is no better place to stay in the Ventura Harbor!
