Stayed with my parents, siblings and their families. Plenty of room and beds for everyone. Kitchen was stocked with very nice pots, pans, and food storage. Having two fridges was great! The lofted space with the bonus room with beds was awesome for the kids to have their own hangout space. Access to the water was perfect and so close the beach and park worked out so well! We would definitely book again!!

We are so glad you enjoyed all we had to offer and the proximity of the house. We appreciate how respectful you and your family were of our house. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
We have been staying at this place for five years now. The owners are always professional in how their home is managed and how they communicate with renters. They have made a number of updates throughout the house over the past two years.

Thank you so much for the nice words and for staying with us for 5 years! We enjoy having you and your guests come each year and are happy to hear you like the updates. We hope to see you back again!
The entire place was just great. My family enjoyed it very much from just relaxing to playing the games in the lower level, to having a relaxing camp fire. Would recommend it highly.
Very well kept, up to date, large, easily hosts large families.

Thank you for taking the time to review Pine Lake Lodge on Lake Holcombe. We do take pride in keeping this place comfortable for large families and we are happy this worked out for your group. We would be happy to host your group again.
We had a nice time here. The house has many amenities, lots of beds, good outdoor facilities like the firepit and dock, and Lake Holcombe has many miles of shoreline to explore. Overall we were quite happy with the place
Excellent place to stay but not on the lake with the lake view or a good place for kids to swim at the cabin.
Wonderful place to stay. Not a fan of the sprinkler system.
We were very pleased with the property, location, and experience. Large enough for our family with room to spare. We spent most of our time outside enjoying the large deck, fishing, kayaking, playing games in the yard, and using the fire pit.

Thank you Ingrid for taking such great care of our property and we are so happy to hear all the ways your family enjoyed your vacation. We would be pleased to have you stay again in the future.
The pictures don’t do the cabin justice! The home is great!
Only possible downside is pretty limited privacy but neighbors were all kind and welcoming.

Love this place!
We have come here two summers now, and it feels like home. The description on the website is very accurate. There is lots of sleeping space, and we tie our boats up at the dock with easy access to Lake Holcombe. It has all the kitchen amenities you need to cook for a whole crew. Thanks!

Thank you for your return visits. We strive to make Pine Lake Lodge accommodating to family gatherings. We are happy to hear that this place " feels like home".
Not great communication. No response when asked if early check in was possible.
"Hot tub" listed in amenities is actually a jet bathtub (standard tub size)
Never have i been charged a cleaning fee and then have the owner expect us to sweep, mop, dust, change light bulbs if they burn out, take garbahe to curb, etc.
Ww noticed some things that would make this place a bit more user friendly.
In Bathrooms:Shower mats, grab bars, soap dispensers, hand held hairdryers.hooks for robes and PJ's
Kitchen: could use a larger salad bowl and a serving platter(perhaps these were there but we didnt find them. Need new aluminum foil.
Lightbulba are out in several bedrooms and one is flickering in the upstairs bath.
Some switch plates are loosevand need tightening. We wpuld suggest removing the old Wi-Fi password in the guesr binder
Taller nightstands next ti beds to .ake ug easier to read.
New coffee maker instructions, the original ones were stuck together.

Great Home for Large Amount of People, Owner not very Helpful
This home is a great gathering home for larger amounts of people. The kitchen and great room area is very adequate.
The downstairs game room is very nice, for kids and adults alike!
The property and surrounding yard, garage, etc are very nice!
The issues we had were with the owner, she was not upfront with us about several issues, such as the water level in the channel where the dock is. Also, it was stated there was firewood - there is a pile of large rotting logs on the opposite side of the property of the fire pit. We had to purchase firewood to have a fire.
Please be aware the key must be picked up at a different location 45 miles away. When asked if we could set something else up for entry to the home, the answer was "no".
Be aware that the rental must be cleaned for next guests including laundry, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, etc.
Kayaks , canoes, paddle boats available to rent but none included with rental or available on site. We did rent kayaks and the place is in a perfect location for kayaks. Not so much for runabout boats, though.
No beach or sand on site but 20 min walk to nice beach and playground. You can do a lot of walking, jogging, biking in the area right from the property.
Overall, spacious...nice fire pit for all to gather....excellent kitchen for feeding a group.
The customer service was the worst I have ever experienced in renting many, many rentals. We would not recommend this property.

Very sorry Dana that you feel this way. In my 5 years of renting out this property, I have never had the problems you describe. Over half of my reservations are repeat guests year after year. I promptly answered/replied to your 26 questions and phone calls from your various family members about the property previous to your stay. If you would have read the rental agreement and House Rules before booking, you would not have had the issues you indicate. After you visited the site (before your stay), you asked for some of your money back because you inaccurately measured the depth of the water at the end of the dock. I would not agree to the discount because the depth of the water is exactly as I indicated in my response #15 back to you. We never promised the availability of firewood, I told you that sometimes previous guests leave firewood behind. This whole situation was due to not thoroughly reading the VRBO listing, and not reading the short term rental agreement and house rules. I have a total of 3 vacation rental properties, and I am very happy to report that 99% of the time, I have no problems.
House was nice; communication with host was great until we arrived
The house was big with plenty of room for our family. Communication with the host was great up until we arrived. I tried reaching out about an issue with one of the beds, and had a couple other questions about things in the house, but the host never replied. It would have been nice just to get a message upon arrival of 'Hope everything is OK, let me know if you have questions or if there are any problems.' Good thing there were no major problems; we would have been screwed trying to communicate with the host.
I was the organizer for our extended family gathering, and I got rave reviews for this spacious home with access to Lake Holcomb. The adults enjoyed grilling and relaxing on the deck while the teens and younger kid played in the gameroom. Great find!

Liked: Location
House on the Canal
Nice place and great location. Only TV is on top floor up a long stairs. The 2 sofas on main floor were not comfortable at all. Nobody used them. Have stayed a lot of places and never seen a house rule book like that before. Checking out an hour earlier than other places is ok except doing the bedding is not a possible task with that timeline. Great parking area for boats and trailers.
I rented this property for a staff family retreat in June. There were 8 adults and 7 kids total.
Pros:
- Huge property. Plenty of space to spend time together or on your own.
- Cabin feels. The decor and interior design were on point with the location (riverside).
- Plenty of parking. We had 4 cars total (2 vans, 2 trucks). It would have easily fit another 2 cars.
- TV wasn't the central feature of the main living room. This discouraged kids and adults alike to stay away from screens.
- Close to dam and river access.
- Close to swimming beach (we walked the 3/4 miles to and from with a baby and toddler in tow).
- Keurig and coffee were included.
- Kitchen is spacious and made for easy cooking.
- Linens provided.
- Home was mostly clean.
- In-home washer and dryer.
- Prior to the visit the hosts were fast to respond.
Cons:
- Septic tank must have been full or near full. It was pretty smelly outside and limited our time spent outdoors on the property.
- Huge hair ball was found in one of the beds.
- Guests are expected to strip linens and start their own housekeeping (sorting the dirty bedding and starting the laundry machines if able).
- Fishing in the area was disappointing (4 walleye caught from the shore over 4 hours in the dam and river areas).
- No fish for fishing right off the dock in the backyard.
- Lots of seaweed in the docking area off the dock in the backyard. The kids did not want to play in the water back there at all.
- No front door. This was just a bit confusing, as we walked around the entire house once to see if we had the right door and could disarm the alarm in time.
- Uncomfortable mattresses in the bonus bunk room. They were lumpy.
- Check-out time was unreasonably early considering they ask you to start washing the linens before you leave.
- The phone number listed on the post must not be accurate. We were low on toilet paper. I texted the number and did not get a response at all from the hosts.
The property is kept up really well. I feel that the home is actually beyond how it is displayed in the profile. Overall management of the property is professionally handled.
It was wonderful, we had a large group and there was enough room for everyone. Very much enjoyed the house, cleanliness and close to the venue of the wedding we were there for
Very comfortable, large cabin for a Christmas celebration of 16 people (covid limited us to less than 16). Well supplied and owners were friendly and available via phone during the stay. We're thinking of coming back for summer fun!

About the host
Hosted by Julie and Wayne
We created many happy family memories in this lodge with our 5 kids and 18 nieces and nephews over the past 20 years. At times, we had over 25 guests for the holiday weekends. Now you have the opportunity to create happy memories as you get together with those you love.
Why they chose this property
We built this lodge when all our kids and nieces and nephews were young. It is a perfect getaway with a quiet street, quiet waterway and a large comfortable space. There is something for everyone with the different amenities of both lakes. Pine Lake is quiet, no wake and great for fishing, canoeing or paddle boating. Take your boat under the bridge from Pine Lake to Lake Holcombe and you have over 3900 acres of water to explore. On Lake Holcombe you can choose beaches and picnics in the park (3 county/public beaches/ picnic areas to choose from), fine and casual dining, bar and grills, live music or just put the anchor down and enjoy the serene beauty. Don't forget to explore Cranberry lake too. There are many low traffic areas to bike or walk. Neighbors are friendly.
What makes this property unique
We love to fish, paddle boat and explore Pine Lake in the early morning hours (listen carefully and you will hear the loons on Pine Lake) and then head out to Lake Holcombe with the water skiers as the sun gets hot later in the day. Cranberry Lake is also filled with great fishing spots and if you are lucky, you will find the eagles in their nest on the east end of the lake. With so many lightly traveled roads, we do alot of biking and walking.
Our family enjoys the winters by snowshoeing and snowmobiling. The beautiful snowmobile trail system can be accessed from the lodge.
