Welcome! Located six miles south of Ketchikan at Mountain Point, this family-friendly house is steps from the water, fishing, boat launch, and the scenic walking path to town. This home offers all you need for a long weekend or multiple-week stay in the Ketchikan vicinity, the perfect hub to exploring scenic Southeast Alaska.

Like you, I travel. And I appreciate those extra touches that make for a relaxing, comfortable stay. My goal is to provide simple, pleasing accommodations with everything you need to enjoy your time in Southeast Alaska.

Each bedroom features quality Queen-sized beds and high-count, 100% cotton linens and towels. Internet and phone access make your stay productive and allow you to keep in touch with friends, family and business. The home also features an interesting library of local lore and guidebooks. The 3-bedroom house, located closest to the water, is adjacent to our separate residential home.

I'm glad to answer your questions about local flora and fauna, with tips for an “insider” Alaska experience.

Easy transportation access is available via South Tongass highway, with the walking path from town nearby.

This home is perfect for the independent traveler who wishes to stay within the local community, with space for personal relaxation.

Fabulous location, fabulous hosts!

We were in Ketchikan for a fishing trip and loved having this getaway from the crowds in town. The location is perfect, view of the water, very clean and spacious. We will definitely come back again.

This property is absolutely gorgeous! It was a great location with a water view! The hosts are amazing! They are genuinely interested in giving you an Alaskan experience! We booked a 2 day fishing trip with the kids and stayed at the tongass home for 3 nights everything was great ...slightly further drive to the boat docks than we anticipated. But it was very nice to get away from the downtown district of Ketchikan...Nicole was easy to work with and was very prompt at follow up emails or phone calls...

We were so impressed by all of the thoughtfulness you see everywhere you turn. Didnt bring waterproof footwear? There are several pairs of rubber boots by the door. Heated bathroom floor, laundry pods, dryer sheets, 1st aid kit, etc etc etc. Thank you Nicole & Brent for sharing your lovely home ❤️

Our home away from home!

Nothing but great things to say about this house! There were four of us that stayed at this cozy home, including myself and my significant other, in addition to another couple. We actually liked the idea that this house wasn't directly in town. It was located in a peaceful neighborhood. We were saddened that the owners of the rental home were not around during our stay. The bedrooms were large and spacious, including the kitchen, living room, and dining room. The atmosphere of the home was very cozy and CLEAN! The only thing that was disappointing was there was only one mirror in the house, which was in the bathroom. We had just wished there was mirrors in the bedrooms to do our makeup, hair, etc, because all four of us were fighting to use the bathroom usually during the same time. It was also nice there was a washer and dryer, as we had used those several times. Other than that, we were very satisfied with our home away from home! We were within close distance of a grocery store as well. We rented a vehicle so we were able to travel along the shoreline of the island! It was AMAZING and a place that we will never forget. There are other activities and places to go near the house such as a few beaches, zip-lining, and a place you can see wild bears! This house is not located directly next to the water, but you can see it from the windows! :) I recommend this house to anyone! We would stay here again if we had to.

Perfect place for family & friends getaway

Nicole was the most amazing host! We were welcomed with fresh cookies, locally roasted coffee, and smoked salmon—really thoughtful touches that immediately made us feel welcome and introduced us to Ketchikan. She had excellent suggestions for a bakery, coffee, and fresh seafood. The house was lovely and comfortable for our group of 4 adults and 1 child. Plenty of room for all! Our family (2 adults and 2 boys ages 9 & 11) had an amazing stay at this home. It was HUGE! Fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds/linens, SUPER soft towels. We had an amazing time. Cell service on the island was spotty, but the WiFi at the house worked great! Nicole is an amazing host that thought of all the little details to make this a wonderful stay. We can’t wait to go back!

Perfect cottage for family gathering .

Charming cottage on the edge of a wooded forest.Ideal location for visiting Ketchikan and surrounding area. A car is essential to get around the area. Cottage is well equipped and clean.Kitchen is perfect for cooking for large group. Only problem...it rained the entire time we were there. We would definitely rent this cabin again!

Your hosts were raised around the corner from each other in rural Utah. Both then followed separate paths to Alaska before meeting again in later life to share their love of the 49th State.

Nicole's path involved taking a respite from career to help build a cabin on a wilderness island in Southeast Alaska; co-operating the local radio station in Ketchikan for several years; and working for a decade in Antarctica.

Brent's path led him across the Arctic while supporting village power systems for 15 years, traveling between each of the cooperative's 50-plus villages. In his off time, he explored several river systems that feed the vast Interior.

When not enjoying family and their hometown in southern Utah, Nicole and Brent can be found soaking up the rainforest at home in Ketchikan.

This article, written by Nicole years ago for the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau media kit, helps explain why we keep returning to Ketchikan and consider it 'home:'

'Step onto the dock in Ketchikan and feel it – the rhythm of an island life. Time spent in a place where all roads circle back to center; where the day’s schedule ebbs and flows to the tides, daylight hours, and Alaska Airlines flight schedule. No corporate time clock or freeway traffic here. And any industrial noise is that of an occasional floatplane or the slap of a fishing boat’s lines flying ashore.

Bound to a single, sprawling community that stretches some 35 miles from one end of the developed road system to the other, residents of this Alaska town and associated rural borough appreciate a refined sense of cohesiveness that comes from living together in some isolation. At once gritty, eclectic, and yet strikingly civilized, there is something in Ketchikan’s island life that speaks to most everyone.'
