About this property
Casa Tocaya: Adobe Gem in O'Keeffe country!
**Major upgrade: Mini-split AC/heat just installed in living area and bedrooms!** This recently renovated traditional adobe home is in the heart of the landscape made famous by Georgia O'Keeffe as well as many other artists and photographers. The house was designed to be a sanctuary of quiet and comfort when you return from exploring the area's jaw-droppingly beautiful scenery!
Great for nature lovers, artists, photographers, couples, hikers, families and kids, fisherpeople, explorers, nappers and all lovers of beauty! We absolutely rent to all races, genders, religions and backgrounds.
Guest access:
The whole house is yours! The kitchen is well-equipped for serious cooking, great for family get-togethers and holiday feasts. Also good for just coffee and a quick breakfast on your way out the door! There's a washer/ dryer available by arrangement for longer stays. Beds are comfy with nice linens and plenty of quilts and blankets. Games, books and some DVD's provided. Bring your drawing pad or leave a masterpiece in the house sketchbook!
Other things to note:
We have only one close neighbor and she is a lovely person, but we ask that you please don't disturb her! We want to be a good thing in everyone's eyes!
AC units in both bedrooms, but not in living area.
If you plan to bring a pet, please disclose at booking. The dog rules are no pups on furniture and no pups left alone in the house unless kenneled. We used to charge a pet fee, but now I'm trying out a policy where I ask guests with pets to leave a nice tip for my housekeeper.

About the host
Hosted by Lynn Dougherty

I live in LA, though I'm in Abiquiu whenever I can be! Dogs, gardens, good food and travel are my passions. Two kids, both in college, are my heart,
Why they chose this property
I fell in love with Abiquiu on a trip to Santa Fe where we took a day trip to see Georgia O'Keeffe's house. Thought about it for a few years and then came back and bought the property. I recently added some adjacent acres and it's my dream to create an artist residency there.
What makes this property unique
The 3 houses are all adobes, a kind of building I didn't know much about before I came to Abiquiu. It's a traditional construction method using mud bricks that are dried in the sun rather than being fired in a kiln. They are perfect for this climate and a pleasure to stay in. Warm in winter and cool in summer!
