Just 100 miles from Washington, DC, and a short drive to Shenandoah National Park, Bryce and Massanutten Ski resorts, and the spectacular Luray Caverns, you'll find yourself spoiled for choice. Deer Haven's warm and welcoming interior is designed for your utmost comfort and convenience. The house features a fully-stocked, eat-in kitchen, three baths, and large decks with a grill, fire pit, and hot tub for relaxing. The living area boasts a fireplace, comfortable seating, and plenty of games to play and books to snuggle up with. Two bedrooms are on the second floor, including a principal bedroom with a wall of windows overlooking the Shenandoah Valley. The private third-bedroom suite is on the ground floor with its own bathroom, sitting room, bunk beds, and screened-in porch with great views.

**NOTE FOR WINTER GUESTS:
Deer Haven's recent paving of the most difficult part of the driveway has made it easier to reach the cabin. However, as the area does occasionally get snow, we require a four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle during winter months. Rest assured, we'll work with you to ensure your safety and comfort during inclement weather. In the unlikely event that the road is impassable, we'll honor a partial or full refund depending on the circumstances.

Gorgeous peaceful retreat! Booked a last minute stay for my family of four, and could not have been more pleased. Everything was clean, comfortable, and the setting was beautiful. From morning coffee on the deck to stargazing it was as perfect. John’s welcome packet has great tips for nearby restaurants and sites that we enjoyed, and lots of helpful info. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Had a lovely, relaxing couples trip and it was everything was wanted it to be. It was quiet and secluded, a bit of a bumpy road getting there, but worth what you find at the end! We really enjoyed the observation deck, views, nostalgic classic board game selection, and hot tub.The hosts did a great job of making sure everything we needed was available for a comfortable stay.

This was the second time we've had a girls' weekend at this property. I came her with four of my friends a few months ago, and we liked it so much that we booked another weekend at the beginning of October. The house is lovely, and unbelievably clean! We appreciated that so much. The kitchen is well-stocked. There are two separate living spaces as well as ample decking with beautiful views. The master bedroom has a beautiful view of the mountains. The hosts have provided many games and books. There is a fire-pit area, and a hot tub on the deck, which we used. Also, a few of us went hiking on local trails. Mostly we just hung around the house and enjoyed ourselves, though. We all highly recommend this property, and I'm sure we'll be back. Thank you so much to our hosts!

Wonderful getaway!

My family truly enjoyed our time at Deer Haven. The setting is so peaceful and remote, and the views are breathtaking, especially at sunset. We loved the fire pit, hot tub and the rocking chairs on the porch overlooking the valley. The house was spotless and so comfortable, it truly was our home away from home for a week!

Beautiful Mountain Retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Deer Haven. The house was very clean and welcoming, offered breathtaking views, was thoughtfully decorated, and stocked with everything you need to make it a home away from home. We enjoyed our morning coffee each day watching the deer and wild turkeys roam the property, and the views of the sunsets were truly amazing! The owners provided so much helpful information well in advance of our arrival, including wonderfully detailed driving directions, local recommendations, and everything we needed to know about the house. That really helped to take the stress out of planning, and we were able to sit back and relax as soon as we stepped through the doorway. A wonderful experience all around. Thank you!

Beautiful views and great house

We had a terrific stay at this property, which was an easy two hour drive from DC. The views were stunning and the house was very clean and had everything we needed for a nice vacation with our infant and preschooler. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed using the pancake griddle for breakfast. There were great hikes, walks, restaurants, and vineyards within a 10-15 minute drive. This was one of the best properties we’ve rented and we hope to return soon!

Very pleasant stay

The only downside to Deer Haven is the bumpy mountain road to get there - but that should be expected. Once you arrive however, it is an absolutely stellar experience! We arrived to a very clean home, with fantastic views of the valley. Privacy was great, and the weather was wonderful. I enjoyed waking up and sipping coffee on the front balcony, and my wife and I enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. We will definitely be considering staying here again!

Amazing

My family had such a nice time and the property and location are amazing. We will definitely stay here again! The driveway going up to the house is steep and a little rough at parts. I would recommend a larger vehicle as my car bottomed out on a rock or two. Other than that it was absolutely amazing!

Perfect Weekend Getaway with Friends

The house was exactly what you see in the pictures. Eveything was clean. This was by far the most well stocked kitchen we have seen in any rental. The beds were comfortable. The hot tub was fantastic. The view from the top of the mountain was spectacular and worth every bit of the 5 minute drive up. We wish we could have used the fire pit but it was too windy. We loved sitting on the deck reading and drinking coffee.

Family Getaway with Great Views

My family stayed at Deer Haven for a long weekend. The road to the house is no joke but the views at the top are totally worth it! The owners sent a super helpful welcome packet a few weeks before check-in which we really appreciated. We visited Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns while enjoying the hot tub and fire pit at night. We also checked out the flea market and went out to eat in nearby Woodstock. The house had plenty of room for us to spread out if needed and lots of space to gather to watch the sunset or play board games. I would love to go back in the fall!

Relaxing long weekend

Everything was as advertised. Gorgeous view and a lovely property to walk. May be the most secluded home we've stayed at and that was lovely. Definitely a good feel for getting away from it all. Bumpy way up the mountain. We were glad to have our all wheel drive. Across 3 beds, every one of us commented on how comfortable the beds and the linens were to sleep in. Well stocked kitchen allowed us to make all meals (except one dinner out) at the house. Highly recommend as a lovely space to escape to.

Perfect weekend getaway!

My boyfriend and I wanted to take a little trip to get away from the stresses of everyday life for the weekend. When we arrived at Deer Haven, not only was the view and the house beautiful, but it smelled so clean when we walked in the door.. and it was! The house was equipped with everything we needed- we just had to bring our own food, drinks, and toiletries. We loved sitting out on the deck taking in the beautiful view while drinking our coffee in the morning or having a glass of wine in the evening. The hot tub was so warm and relaxing and we used the fireplace in the living room which created a warm and cozy atmosphere. Overall, Deer Haven was exactly what we needed to relax and refresh our souls for a few days. Everything was great and we had no reason to reach out to our hosts during our stay as everything was just as described. We were sad to leave but we will definitely be back! Family vacation in the mountains

We really enjoyed our stay. The house had plenty of room for our group of 5. We enjoyed our mountain view both morning with the bird song and evenings with the sunsets. We enjoyed fires at night in the firepit and on our last night fun in the hot tub. Some helpful critiques are to make sure you have 4 wheel drive for all seasons, because the road leading up to the driveway as well as parts of the driveway is badly in need of work. Also, not all the jets are working in the hot tub and the temperature would not go lower than 100°, so we couldn't set it to the 95° stated in the packet. We enjoyed Shenandoah National Park, checked out a winery one day and Luray Caverns another day. All in all it was a wonderful relaxing vacation!

Amazingly beautiful!!!

The property was beautiful, completely beautiful!!! We like to come to the area this time of year to see all of the leaves changing and falling and just take in the amazing surroundings. I can definitely say this has been a favorite. The view was just amazing. When we weren't out hitting the shops and trails, I could have just sat on the porch and took in the view all day. The cabin was perfect for us because we have 9 yr old twins and 2 older boys, 23 and 17, the layout gave them space and we could keep the little ones close to us. It feels like home when your there. Everything was comfortable, there were no complaints. We always joke about which cabin we would buy if we could from our trips and this was absolutely my favorite!!! Thank you so much, it was truly amazing!!!
