Every now and then, go away, and have a little relaxation, for when you return to your work, your judgment will be surer.

Located on 5 acres of gorgeous hillside, you will have plenty of space to explore and enjoy the fresh mountain air in privacy. Get ready to take in clear night skies full of brilliant constellations from the patio or the swing in the front yard, whether it's a cold winter night or a fresh summer evening.

The Southern Comfort Cabin is fully equipped to be your home away from home. The kitchen is furnished with a refrigerator, oven, microwave, and various small appliances, and of course, all you need for coffee each morning. Enjoy your meals together around the dining room table, or take them to the patio for an epic barbecue with a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

After hiking Kennedy Peak Trailhead or enjoying a horseback ride in the Shenandoah Valley, decamp to the family room for a movie night. This comfy room includes a flat-screen TV with streaming access/WiFi, a Pac-Man machine, an electric fireplace, and a variety of board games.

If you need more adventures, canoe rentals, fishing, boating, tubing, golfing, and many more outdoor activities, including our private river lot, are all in close proximity.

Back at the cabin, pour some hot cocoa, and gather around the picnic table by the outdoor fireplace, looking at the expansive landscape.

With 2 bedrooms and one full bath, there is plenty of space for everyone to keep up with daily routines before enjoying multiple trails, a trip to the Shenandoah National Park, or the Luray Caverns.

For special occasions, such as vacations, birthdays, honeymoons, anniversaries, etc., upon request, we will make a rustic sign to hang in front of an old cabin (1947) located on the property so you can capture these special moments that last a lifetime.

The house is spacious, quiet, and clean. Jan was very helpful. We loved the mountain view when sitting on the couch in the living room and looking out through the windows. We enjoyed our stay here and will definitely come back if we visit Shenandoah again!

Our stay at Southern Comfort more than exceeded expectations. I had planned a quick SNP getaway for my children for their birthdays and staying here was as much a part of the itinerary as exploring the park and Luray Caverns. The kids had a wonderful time exploring the woods, playing Ms. PacMan (me, too!), playing on the swing set and of course roasting marshmallows. Upon arrival, Jan had set out a "Happy Birthday" sign to help us celebrate. The cabin was warm, inviting, and clean. The view of the Blue Ridge Mountains was a stunning way to begin and end each day. Jan was very responsive for every message I sent her andnever made me feel like a bother! The kids are already asking when we can come back again and since there is still so much more to explore, I think it's highly likely we will! Honestly, the generosity and hospitality of Jan cannot be matched - thank you so much for a wonderful birthday weekend!

Great Getaway

This is a wonderful property. Communication with the host was great. The home is thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed and more. The pool table and Ms. Pacman were a lot of fun.

Everything about this place was spectacular! From the cleanliness, the number of amenities, and a host that went above and beyond to accommodate our stay.. We will certainly be back to stay in this cozy cabin, nestled on the Massanutten mountainside, with a gorgeous view of the Shenandoah mountains. There are so many great things to do; With the Shenandoah River nearby, many trails with stunning overlooks, and of course the beautiful town of Luray, the entire area is packed full of sweet, country charm. In town we found some nice restaurants, breweries/wineries (and a meadery), antique stores, local music, a rescue zoo, and more! The Luray Caverns were quite a sight, and the hedge maze nearby was a fun experience. In summary, this place is centrally located to everything you could ask for, is very secluded, and has all the comforts of home you would need while visiting Shenandoah National Park and the surrounding area. 10/10 an absolute gem.

Very clean and comfortable cabin

Had a great experience here. The cabin was extremely clean, furniture was comfortable, and there were several nice surprises for us. Jan definitely tried to make her guests have a good time. We’d stay here again. Perhaps the best part is the view from the living room and front deck. Long range and beautiful.

Beautiful Cabin in the Woods

This property is a real gem! The cabin is gorgeous and the location is perfect. You're close to shopping, restaurants and popular attractions. The kitchen is fully loaded. There is plenty of entertainment. Ms Pac Man, pool table, board games, Cornhole and football. We had fun exploring the old cabin up front and really enjoyed the homemade sign. Jan is in constant communication if you need assistance and very hospitable. This property is absolutely beautiful. We just wish we had a whole week to stay. Will definitely book again!

The cabin is beautiful! Decor was great! We had everything we needed to have a great family vacation. The PACMAN game with the boys and my husband to see who could get and keep the highest was hilarious. The kids enjoyed the pool table as well. The rooster was great! Woke the kids but not us lol...The views were great, the mountains, the clouds, sun/moon. I can't wait for October 2020, we will be back. Thank you to the Viles for allowing us to use the cabin to make wonder memories with our nearly grown children.

The only place I'll stay in Luray

I cannot say enough about how good our experience was at this property. The view is outstanding, the accommodations were perfect and even had several things available that we had packed not knowing they would be there already. You are far enough from town to escape but close enough to get things that you may have forgotten or those tiny grocery runs The cabin was extremely clean. The communication from Jan and him taking care of any needs regardless of how small was excellent. This was the first time we had ever rented anything like this. Others will have very high expectations to live up to now. If we stay in the Luray area again there's not a another place that I would consider before this.

Perfect place for hiking and relaxing

Jan and Vickie are very accessible and helpful. The place is immaculate and the property is perfect for relaxing playing catch if you have children or fetch if you have dogs. The perfect deck for watching the sunrise with coffee. It's close to Shenandoah park. And really close to the caverns. And thanks to Jan we had a great hike to Kennedy's peak on our first day which is right up the street. We visited the little cabin on the grounds and sat on the porch every evening. Would recommend to anyone. You can do as much or as little as you want and have a great time. There is also plenty to do at the house on rainy days. Pool table PAC-MAN games books and 2 nice size TVs Thanks Jan and Vickie!

The cabin is really cute and was perfect for my needs. The area is beautiful. My only regret is that I didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub. But the outside fireplace was fabulous.

RAINY BUT GREAT

had a great time with my dog Lady, went to Laura Lake and the Luray Greenway many times and hiked up Hawksbill, dodged rain all week, but it was still great to be there

Winter trip

The cabin is fantastic. It had WiFi and all the pots and pans we needed. It’s close to many trails. My son loved the Ms. Pac-Man machine, pool table, and board games. I also appreciated the quick and clear communication with the property manager.

A place to unwind.

My husband and I along with our 2 corgis came out for a few days to mainly see Luray Caverns and recharge. That is exactly what we did. This cabin had everything you need for an amazing stay. The view from the deck is breath taking for watching sun and the moon come up. Just 2 miles up the road is an overlook that you can see the whole valley below for miles all around. We loved it so much we hated to leave. We will be back. The area is so lovely as well and everyone we met was wonderful.

Wonderful solitude

This cabin was perfect for us--close enough to Luray & the park but with wonderful solitude. The hot tub was fantastic! Jan was quick to respond when the BBQ didn't work & got it up & running in no time.

Anniversary Mountain Getaway

Beautiful area, great host, and perfect house! We were very comfortable at Southern Comfort Cabin. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and appliances, towels in the bathroom and a fantastic game room downstairs - it was exactly what we hoped for. Looking forward to renting again one day!

Southern Comfort offers a private river lot in close proximity to the cabin, and you can enjoy or float to this lot from public river access. In addition to that, an old log cabin built in 1947 is located on the property and ready to explore.
