About this property
Waterfront, Family Retreat up to 12, Acadia National Park, Coastal Maine, Camp
Branch lake is known as one of the top rated lakes in Maine for its water purity and very unique sparse population as its the watershed for Ellsworth. Less than half the lakeshore is developed, especially the Southern end, making one feel wonderfully cutoff from civilization! Mainguy's is one of the nicest or best camps on Branch Lake for its location and amenities just off Route 1, center lake location, deep water frontage with a dive tower (23 feet deep), small beach, lakeside fireplace and exceptional knotty pine interior with top of the line appliances, new beds, bar, Starlink Wifi & 3 large LED TV's. The year round house/camp was totally gutted from top to bottom and remodelled in 2015/2025 and is just 40 feet from the waters edge. Ideally designed for families or 2 couples as there are 2 separate indoor entertainment areas. There is 1 ground floor bedroom with a king & full bathroom near it. Level 1 has 1 double bedroom & 1 queen bedroom plus a 2 twins (bunk bed) bedroom with a full bathroom in the corridor. Level 2 has the master king bedroom which has a 1/2 bathroom next to it along with a loft across the suspended walkway hosting a double bed. The kitchen is completely remodelled with state of the art appliances, dual oven, 36 inch fridge with ice maker , dual gas stove and dishwasher along with a convection microwave oven. Hardwood flooring is laid throughout the 1st floor including the kitchen along with new wrap around quartz countertops. The house has all new linen and towels you will need along with all kitchen utensils and dishes. The ground floor has luxury vinyl flooring which can handle the sandy traffic in and out the sliding glass door to the sand beach . The hammock right near the dock is often fought over during the day or evening as a perch to watch the fire in the lakeside fireplace. Sunsets from the deck are magic! A very scenic 30 minute drive takes you into the famed Acadia National Park or towards Bucksport to start a must do memorable drive along the coastline down to Camden with all the roadside charm and antique shopping. In case you are short of space and require additional space or just more privacy, there is an optional very luxurious contemporary 2 king bed bedrooms apartment with ensuite bathrooms, kitchenette with dishwasher/microwave oven, 4 seat island, living room with 65" smart TV, and 2 terraces with great views over the lake. This would grant an extra 4 people to the 12 of the main house. Please message me if you'd like to inquire, receive more information on this apartment.
Lastly, I just started to rent my other key home on Branch Lake in case interested. Look up "Waterfront, lake estate, reunions, 8 bedrooms, Acadia Nat'l Park, Bar Harbor". The 8 bedroom cottage plus main house sleeps up to 17 in existing bedding. We call it "Serenity" and its also managed by Jessica Dow, the property manager. Tel 1-207-902.3895.

Excellent lake house, well kept, stocked with plenty of towels and disposables, access to kayaks, beautiful views, and easy access to town and to Acadia/Bar Harbor.
Property was very well-kept and as described! Thanks for the great week.Check-in was very smooth, the kitchen was well-stocked as far as utensils and cookware, and the view of the lake was fantastic. Nice, cool breeze coming in every night made it especially comfortable.10/10 would recommend!
Spacious home with beautiful lake view and access. Fun for adults, children, and pets. Lots of restaurants and shopping all within a 30 to 60 minute drive. Communication with the hosts was never a problem. Very friendly and helpful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! We had 12 adults and two dogs and there was plenty of room inside and out for everyone! The beach area was perfect and the lake is pristine! Fishing off the dock, swimming and boating in the lake, relaxing on the beach and the dock, everything was great! The beds were very comfortable and the large open living areas on multiple floors were great for entertainment during a couple days without great weather. The house was very clean and spacious as well. The owner and property manager were great to deal with and answered any questions we had very promptly! We would definitely recommend this rental!
The location is wonderful! Right on a beautiful lake with westward views. The kids loved swimming and kayaking. Also close to Arcadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Perfect for a family vacation.
We had a wonderful stay. The home is beautiful and the lake is gorgeous. We had a great time swimming, jumping off the dock, and taking out the kayaks. The hosts were very accommodating and quick to respond with any questions we had. We hope to come back in the future!
Awesome lakeside house with everything you need. Great access to Branch lake. Plenty of room for two families. We have stayed there back to back summers and had a fabulous time both years.
This property has fun things to do for kids, adults and dogs of all ages. Water fun galore! Swimming, diving, paddling, canoeing, fishing, wading, sunbathing. Bring your boat and explore beautiful Branch Lake. House is well stocked and furnished.
Perfect vacation spot for our family! The house is clean, spacious, and well-stocked with linens, towels, and kitchen necessities as well as games and lake "toys" (canoe, kayaks, paddle board). The lake is pristine and perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing. The dock with its diving/jumping platform is fantastic fun. Three generations had a great week!
We had a great stay at this house. It was clean and had everything we needed for a week at the lake. The house was well stocked with essentials and cook wear. Our family had a great time at the lake kayaking and paddle boarding. Only a 45 min drive to Acadia made it easy to hike in the morning and get to the lake by the afternoon. The owners were great with communication and extremely accommodating. We will definitely be back!
Best lake house stay! Beautiful location on rarely traveled road. We do these family lake stays with 10 family members every summer and this was the best one yet. Enough water toys for everyone - paddle board, kayaks, canoe, dock and diving platform, beach with kids toys. Such a beautiful location on such a clean lake. Such great evenings around the fire and family meals on big picnic table on the deck. Can’t wait till next year!
The property was very well stocked, clean, and accurately described in the advertisement. Management and communication was prompt and professional. I would return to this property in the future without hesitation. Excellent all around! The lake, boating equipment, and dock are terrific.
We had a wonderful time on Branch lake!! The dive platform was huge hit regardless of the weather. I was in awe of the huge lake rocks and how clear the water was. We saw a bald eagle twice and so many fish. The house was a great fit for our large party. The beds were quite comfortable and the showers were exceptional! Can’t wait for next year.
We had a great time playing in the water as well as easy access down to Acadia for hiking, running carriage trails, etc. The lake is super clean - it has a small area for little kids and a great platform for our teenagers to jump. The house was well appointed including having everything you need for a lobster dinner for 13 people. The Property Manager was very responsive. A great week overall!
Was looking for a lakefront summer vaca with swimming and boat access and close proximity to Acadia. This fit the bill and more. Enough room for adults, teens, and youngers to have space and also two gathering areas. Outdoor space was perfect with walk in swimming area, seating, and of course the high dive. Owner and property manager responsive. Can't recommend this property enough.
I chose this house for our annual family vacation and it was as a big hit with everyone. We all like being on the water and having a good kitchen to prepare meals. It was a bonus to have watercraft and we used the kayaks and paddle board almost every day. The house is very well appointed so we didn’t have to run out for baggies, Kleenex or paper towels. We had everything we needed. A special treat, which I have not experienced in other rentals, was having no chores to do on departure day!
We have stayed at this property for many years and it never disappoints us. The hosts go above and beyond to make sure our needs are met. The house is impeccably clean and stocked with everything renters need. It is spacious and the views of the lake are breathtaking. . The location of the house and the dock is perfect for fishing, canoeing, kayaking and boating. The beach is great for children to play on and they can easily wade into the water. .The wrap around deck with its picnic tables, benches and grill is great for family dinners overlooking the lake. Our family of 10 played card games in the evening, watched the beautiful sunsets from the dock and just listened to the loons calling from the water. Acadia National Park is just a 45 minute drive away and a great trip to experience wildlife and magnificent views. I highly recommend this property. We absolutely love this rental and have not found any other rental to compare to this property or the hosts that offer this rental.
Really enjoyed our multi family vacation in this lakefront retreat. We made full use of the kayaks to explore the lake, all sat around the fire pit while the kids roasted marshmallows at night and explored in all directions from Acadia to Camden and beyond from our base camp. Three generations, 6 adults & 3 kids were very comfortable and had plenty of room to spread out. Very well equipped kitchen, grill, 3 TVs and laundry room made it convenient and comfy when coming home hungry and in need of a hot scrub up at the end of a day out. Relaxing and quiet at night hearing the sound of loons with the windows open to get the cool breeze from the water. The stairs are rather steep, but that’s the only thing that we’d change. Overall the location, amenities and comfort were fantastic. Great family trip, great house and great host.
This property was everything we had hoped it would be and even better in person than as advertised. Our group consisted of adults & kids (7-11yr olds) and 2 fury friends. The backyard from the deck to the dock is where we spent most of our time, with the shallow water off the property edge an excellent spot for the kids to swim and adventure. The high jump off the dock was awesome as it's about 25-30' deep there. We also rented a boat from DownEast rentals who were great to deal with, provided a newer Pontoon for the week and the boat launch is directly across the lake (a kayak ride, or 30min car ride around the lake). We had a great week of fishing catching a ton of sunnies & bluegills, but also some awesome small mouth bass, lake trout and even an eel. Lastly, Peter and Jessica were great with communication throughout and helped answer any questions we had. Highly recommend for a nice R&R getaway!

About the host
Hosted by Peter Mainguy
I am currently the General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Millenia in Singapore and have been in the hospitality industry for 40 years throughout Europe, Africa, Middle East/Gulf and now Asia. I consider Maine home and will eventually stay there once my career ends. I have another property across the lake as I love the topography, people, fresh air, simplicity, wilderness with key infrastructure at your doorstep along with the incredible charm of the coastal area between Bar Harbor and Camden.
Why they chose this property
I went to Husson University in Bangor Maine. Having grown up in Europe, I had never seen such pristine wilderness within reach of major infrastructure at an affordable price. I fell in love with the idea of owning a camp on the water immediately and call it home as I travelled the world. I finally found this place on Branch that ticked off all the boxes and over the years, built it from its simple seasonal beginnings into my idea of what a lakeside camp should look, feel like and offer. I wanted a place that was easy to access, close to everything, offer great swimming from the shore yet be able to pull up in a sailboat with a keel, stunning water views, be close to the waters edge, and to top it all off, feel like I was in a very isolated area.
What makes this property unique
Again, besides the incredible location just off route 1, lake centered, the lot is surrounded by the best homes on the lake, just on the cusp of a small bay overlooking a little private public island. The small beach is ideal for swimming off of and the dive tower offering kids and adults alike hours of entertainment. Mornings are exceptionally tranquil with picturesque sunsets in the evenings. The moments of roasting some marsh-mellows over an open fire at the lakes edge while sipping some wine or enjoying a beer will forever be etched in your memory. I have pulled in Salmon, trout and bass off my dock in the early mornings but mostly enjoy the swimming and snorkeling just off the property. I love boating to the 2 public beaches. One is right across the lake from the property next to a public boat launch and the other at the Southern tip under a bridge next to the dam. There are a few small islands in the Northern end. Branch Lake is essentially a giant well with its deepest point of 124 feet!
