Hi Jeffrey, We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and the issues you’ve encountered during your stay. As hosts, our top priority is to provide a comfortable and enjoyable environment for all our guests, and we work extremely hard to accommodate our guests to the best of our abilities. I will take this time to address all of your points. In regards to the mattress and towels, this is a first we have heard of these issues. We purchase our products carefully, weighing in research and reviews, with our guests’ comfort in mind. The mattresses we have in the home are 10 inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress with CertiPUR-US Bed Mattress, chosen because it keeps cool and features pressure relief. Although slightly higher priced, we purchase bamboo linens and sheets to accommodate any guest sensitivities as well as for the bamboo properties of absorbency, breathability, and hypoallergenic properties. We understand that they may not be exactly to your requirements but we have done our best to choose quality products for our guests. As for the toilet, you stated it was fixed and when we checked on it, it was functioning as expected. As for the features of the home, we understand the sink vanities are not built to the your height standard but this is truly not in our control as we are not authorized to make the decision for these types of major construction changes to the home. As for the smells and flies mentioned, when we received your message, we came over to address all the issues you mentioned within the hour, while providing updates. There were no smells from the disposal and it was functioning (but we still treated it) , the garage was empty save for the empty trash bin (which was switched out with another empty bin). Despite not seeing any flies, we still sprayed treatment and set out traps. We take pride in our standard of cleanliness and sanitization for our homes. Our team timestamps every turnover to document the home is prepared and sanitized for every guest. We also personally checked on the home before your arrival so we were shocked to receive this message but went over to address the issues within the hour. And again, despite not seeing any issues you mentioned in your message, we still applied preventative treatments. Despite these resolutions, you informed us that you will be checking out early, which we respected your decision to do so. You also disclosed that unless “we are willing to work with you”, you will post a review. We interpreted this as an attempt at extortion. Although very rare, this is not the first time a guest has tried to make false claims about our home in exchange for refunds. It is the unfortunate reality of this business. Due to this, we have made a practice of documenting thoroughly; every point mentioned earlier can be proven via receipts and photos/videos. As evidenced by other reviews, we have built a reputation of high standards of hospitality and going above and beyond for our guests. Again, we sincerely regret that your stay was not as expected and we will take this situation as a training opportunity as we continue to strive in our pursuit of excellent hospitality. -Ben and Christine
