We are French and live in Paris, but we have been in love with this beautiful island for 15 years now, and this is home for us. We have been looking for a beach villa for years and finally found one to make it our home and yours, when you visit. I am a College Professor, writer and photographer, as well as ethologist and animal communicator, my husband was a keen golfer, and we have a 19 year old daughter who is a delightful mixture of Parisian and Island girl and who is now a Yalie. Our American Curl cat, Neige (Snow in French)stays at home in Paris when we come down here because she hates travelling. Our second cat, one year old Topaz was adopted on the Island, and flew back to Paris where she is now enjoying life and has a European passport.

Hire a new cleaning crew and bug person.
The villa itself was a nice villa but it said it had been totally renovated. The kitchen/laundry and bathrooms were but nothing else. Furniture was nice. Carpets need replaced. Sliding glass doors need replaced, neither one of them locked. The one downstairs you used a piece of wood. The cleaning people need fired. There were dead roaches and bugs behind the sofa, under beds, behind tv and under tv stand in living room. The coffee table in the living room had cup marks and sand all over it and when we moved it to pull out the sofa there were fingernails under it. A bug person needs hired and if you have one, then they need fired. We killed roaches in the upstairs bedrooms and silver fish in the master bathroom. Whomever does the maintenance for the building needs to be fired also. There are vines growing up the side of the villa when going up the front porch and watch out for the poison ivy out front. On the back deck the vines have attacked the hedges and trees and a dead plant sits on the deck. The place where you put your garbage is disgusting. Has it ever been cleaned up out there? Watch when getting in the shower in the master bathroom, tub is slippery. In a book(it is a journal with the Eiffel Tower on it) located on a bookshelf that separates the living room from the dining room the owner has written some tips which was nice but she also wrote that the bedspreads were washed twice a year??? So I am glad I read this on the first day because I washed all the bedding after reading that. All in all this is a very nice villa and if maintained properly it would be awesome. The location on the island is great and the pool is steps from the front door. The beach is close also. Would I stay here again, probably not. Please don't see this review as being disrespectful, just honest. I'm sure the owner will take my review as positive and correct these issues.
First I was concerned, then as I continued reading, and understood that the guests' concern for cleanliness were absolutely obsessive, from checking fingernails in the carpet to complaining about vines in the landscape bushes, I became concerned for another reason.
The owner does not think that" this review is positive" and you say you are being honest, and not disrespectful, while I do think this review is both dishonest and disrespectful and reading it, one might think the property is filthy whereas all my reviews show how clean it is. According to you, I should FIRE everybody (hmmm.. does that ring a bell?) my property manager and the cleaning crew for a few bugs (it is summer time, extremely humid, the summer guests tend to leave food all around) actually all the villas are inspected by Palmetto Pest Control, sprayed once a month and so I should FIRE them. I should also FIRE the cleaning crew because there are rings, and sand on the coffee table (which is brand new). I should also FIRE Palmetto Dunes Resort who maintains the grounds impeccably for vines in the bushes and poison ivy plant on the stairs
What saddens me is that I spend a considerable amount of time and capital maintaining the villa and renovating it, and one biased review disrespects all the work done and all the five star reviews the villa usually gets
If you wanted to be" honest," why not start with everything which is amazing (as yourself had to use the term) such as why not say a word about the open space, brand new, signature kitchen, the signature Ashley furniture in the living room, the two new sofas (instead of looking for fingernails), the exquisite Italian flooring in entrance, kitchen, half bathroom and laundry room instead of saying the carpet (which is two years old) needs replacing? Why not say the view is gorgeous, especially with the new panoramic windows, instead of saying there are vines in the bushes, and a dry dead plant outside? Why not read carefully my description of what has been renovated instead of focusing on what is not? Instead of complaining about the bedspreads (who washes bedspreads each week after guest's departure??? not even hotels do.. I change the bedspreads once a year and wash them twice a year) One truly positive and fair review would have been, the villa is amazing, a few concerns, easily solvable immediately by calling Palmetto Dunes for additional cleaning instead of bashing the villa? Would I return the compliment and say "YOU ARE FIRED?"
A comfortable stay in Hilton Head
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this villa. As noted online, it is located just a long walk (10 - 15 minutes) or short bike ride (5 minutes) to the beach, and we loved that it was just steps to the pool. The furnishings were updated and comfortable and there was enough space for our family of 6 adults and 1 infant. We appreciated that there was a crib for the infant, (although there was no high chair). The washer and dryer were new and nice, and there was soap to use for washing clothes.
Another plus was that we were allowed to stay from Monday to Tuesday of the following week, which we weren't allowed to do in many rentals in the area.
The only reasons we didn't give this 5 stars was because we felt the kitchen was somewhat lacking in equipment. There was only one dishcloth, which was stained and had holes in it. We had to buy some to use during our stay. There were only 2 dishwasher pods for our stay of 8 days, so had to buy those also. The listing said that the unit had a Keurig, but the one there had missing parts and did not work.
The half bath downstairs didn't have a towel or soap, so had to bring some down from our bathrooms upstairs. The listing also said that beach towels and chairs were provided. There was only one beach chair (a bit cumbersome to carry to the beach) and no beach towels.
Our expectations may be a bit high because we own a vacation rental home in our state and may have expected too much, but just would have liked to have what we provide in our own rental. Overall, we were very satisfied and would stay in this villa again if visiting Hilton Head.
I am quite surprised at your comments concerning the kitchen, which is absolutely brand new and everybody raves on how beautiful it is, and beautifully equipped it is (you could have commented on this, I think it is more useful for the guests to know) The kitchen dishcloth is provided by the cleaning crew as well as the soap and towel in the downstairs half bath and I will certainly let my property manager and the cleaning crew know. I personally provide additional cleaning products in the laundry room, a thing which owners never do especially in the summer time. There are additional dishcloths provided by me in the right side drawers, all brand new. Did you open the cupboards and look out for things?The Keurig is also brand new and you could have asked the rentalCie(information provided in the villa) if you needed a new one (guests must have broken it) and it would have been replaced within the day. Rentals do not provide dishwasher pods nor laundry pods -even though I put a stock before the season and renew it every three months-, just a starter kit and guests are expected to buy theirs. There are no longer beach towels as guests keep leaving with it, and when I was here in May there were three beach chairs.
Considering the level of renovation and care which is overall stellar in this villa, I would have appreciated your rating it 5 stars and sharing your remarks more constructively because they are extremely minor and it seems that everything could have easily been taken care of.. And finally a high chair can be rented easily at the rental office, no property offers a high chair.

The condo is open today, so I went to check it out.
There are 2 towels and a washcloth. The ones that are in there now are not stained or torn, but I can’t speak to the ones that were there for their arrival. There also are amenities in the half bath downstairs. As they have their own rental, they should know that all they have to do is call us and we would get them whatever they needed. We state in all of our listings that a “starter kit” of amenities is included so that guests know that they have to either purchase or bring their own cleaners if they require more than what is provided. It would be insane if we were expected to provide everything for their entire stay. We have 190 properties! I also checked the coffee maker. It works fine. It must have been user error.

Nicely maintained and renovated house. Close to bike rental, pickle ball, tennis, pool, golf and beach. Palmetto Dunes is a very nice resort.

We stayed for a month in Valerie’s lovely villa in Palmetto Dunes. The location was very convenient to everything and the villa was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Valerie was a pleasure to deal with .. everything was perfect. We would certainly stay here again and would highly recommend this villa as an excellent base from which to enjoy all Hilton Head has to offer. A great experience all around ..

There were 8 of us staying in Fazio 46. We were very happy with our accommodations. Only 15 minutes to the beach if we walked. We took full advantage of the community pool that was steps from the front door. The house was nice and roomy, clean and has a lovely back patio area. With being such a large group we never felt cramped. Lots of seating in the living room and we were all able to fit around the dining room table. I would recommend this home to anyone!
