About the host
Hosted by Lesa Delisi
Hello! We are Lesa Delisi, a recently retired speech teacher for the Spokane Public Schools, and Dennis Thomas, a holistic veterinarian with an online practice, “Heart to Heart Holistic Healthcare for Pets”. We live a block from the ART HOUSE, and have been in the Perry District for more than 20 years. We have five children and five grandchildren, scattered across WA and TX, and lots of pets! We generally like to have fun and enjoy living in the Pacific NW.
The ART HOUSE
I have always dreamed of hosting a little “boutique” establishment, meeting travelers, and providing a great lodging experience. The Art House is a "Mom and Pop" operation, and we strive to provide the personal touches a corporate-owned rental can't provide. I love building and decorating, and since retiring from the school district, I have returned to my former career as an artist. Being able to create an inviting space for visitors to stay, while in Spokane, has been a dream come true, as I could combine my love of art with my love of decorating and hosting.
I originally bought and rescued the duplex in 2013. It was quite a wreck. It’s been completely remodeled, first for long-term leasing, and now for short-term rentals. It's always been my baby, but my husband helps out. The duplex was built in 1979 on a spare lot that was formerly the orchard and garden for the Weitensteiner family. “Father Joe” Weitensteiner was born in the charming white house to the West of the duplex, and still lives there. He’s a delightful fellow and you’ll likely see him from time to time. Many of the other neighbors are singers, musicians, artists, cooks and gardeners.

Why they chose this property
I originally moved to the Perry District to complete my Master's degree. I love the neighborhood and the eclectic vibe, and decided to stay. It's close to downtown, but not too close. It has it's own character that includes great old architecture, many restaurants and shops, artists, musicians, festivals, multiple parks within walking distance, and music. Several of my neighbors were born in the Perry District, and have lived here their whole lives. It's a close-knit community.
What makes this property unique
The Art House was designed as an adult space with really unique decor, including beautiful art, antiques, and hand-built furniture. I wanted guests to have a great, comfortable place to stay at a reasonable price. I've provided most of the amenities anyone could ask for to be able to "live" in the Art House for a while. You'll have a nice back yard to enjoy the outdoors or cook a meal on the BBQ. The Perry District is full of wonderful places to eat and great little shops, so you can stay and play without having to use your car, if you choose.
