About this property
Peaceful,. Lakeside Log Cabin on Long Pond, Belgrade Lakes Region, Rome, Maine
Relax in our lakeside cabin located on pristine Long Pond, Belgrade Lakes Area, Maine. You can enjoy this modern cabin that is nestled on a wooded lakeside lot in a secluded cove in the Upper Basin of pristine Long Pond. This is a perfect area to enjoy the water, fish, hike the trails of the Kennebec Highlands, or just listen to the haunting sounds of the loons.
A lovely wrap around porch and a lake facing deck provides a great place for grilling, meals, or just a beverage. The cabin offers a private dock for swimming and for your boat should you choose to bring it along. There is no mooring, but adequate dock and cleats to secure your boat. There are various locations for boat rentals in the area. Otherwise, we have available several kayaks, a canoe, and an aluminum jon boat with paddles, oars, and life jackets for your use. Enjoy a stunning sunset on the new lakeside cedar deck with western exposure. A Webber gas grill is provided for your use. A fire pit down near the lakeside is available.
There are two living areas, one with a large gas fireplace for quiet reading, and conversation, and one with a gas stove for those chilly evenings along with Wifi, cable TV, DVD player and an extensive DVD movie library. The well equipped kitchen features a gas stove, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee maker, and refrigerator with ice and water dispenser.
The cabin has a breakfast area facing a lake, and a more formal area for dinner which seats 6 easily. There is also a front loading washer and dryer for your convenience.
The loft features a Queen size bed as well as a workspace area with desk and computer printer. In addition, there are two bedrooms on the second floor and a separate bedroom on the main floor.
A close drive from camp, find the quaint village of Belgrade Lakes that will take you back in time with its old fashioned general store, unique shops, eateries and ice-cream shops. Also, nearby, find Winterberry Farm (great homemade pies and chutneys and jams) and Belgrade Country Club (which is a public course) for golf lovers. In nearby Waterville (30-minute drive) find grocery stores, shops, restaurants and Colby College with its beautiful Museum of Art (free to the public); a perfect excursion for a rainy day. Augusta, Maine's Capital City is a 20 minute drive for additional shopping opportunities. We are 1 hour and 15 minutes north of Portland, an hour from Freeport (home of LL Bean and many shopping outlets). Day trips to Acadia, Camden or Rockland are fun excursions.
If you enjoy hiking and bike riding, then explore Watson Pond Road on the east side of Long Pond and the eastern margin of the Kennebec Highlands and never get bored. This green corridor is flanked by crumbling remnants of old stone walls; a forested lane with many opportunities for exploration. Heading south, the first of three trailheads is for the French Mountain Trail, a loop of less than a mile that leads to cliffs overlooking Long Pond and Great Pond. A half mile down the road, the Sanders Hill Trail loops nearly three miles through stands of sugar maples and shrubby wetlands and past a hulking glacial erratic called Snapper Rock. At mile 3.4, the turnoff to the Blueberry Hill Scenic Area leads to a picnic site with views of the Belgrade Lakes. Finally, at mile 3.8, the gentle Monataka mountain-biking trail begins to the left, while a network of hiking trails branches off to the right, into the Kennebec Highlands, including to sweeping vistas atop 1,133-foot Round Top Mountain.
Linen and towel rentals are available through a local private company. Information for rentals can be obtained via email after rental is completed .
