Nestled in the peaceful countryside of southern Ohio near Chillicothe, The Barn at Cairn Creek offers a unique farm stay surrounded by rolling fields, woods, wildlife, horses, and the simple beauty of country life. Whether you’re looking for a quiet weekend away, visiting family, exploring southern Ohio, or traveling with your horses for your next riding adventure, we’d love to welcome you.

The Barn combines rustic character with the comforts of home, creating a relaxed place to settle in after a day of exploring. Wake up to quiet country mornings, enjoy your coffee while watching horses graze nearby, listen to the sounds of the farm, and end your evening beneath a sky full of stars.

Traveling with horses? Bring them along!

As a horse owner and trail rider myself, I especially love welcoming fellow equestrians. With advance arrangements, guests traveling with their own horses can inquire about overnight accommodations for their horses while enjoying the convenience of staying right here on the property.

And if you’d like to experience some of the beautiful riding our area has to offer, I also offer optional trail-guiding services to local bridle parks. Instead of trying to figure out unfamiliar trails on your own, you can have a local rider help you discover some of our favorite places to ride in southern Ohio. Please make sure you discuss these activities with me for your stay to make plans for horse accommodations, trailer needs, availability, and guided riding options.

Even if you aren’t traveling with horses, there’s plenty to love about Cairn Creek. The property offers the peaceful feeling of being tucked away in the country while still keeping you within easy reach of Chillicothe and the surrounding area’s restaurants, shops, historic sites, parks, hiking, and outdoor recreation.

Most of all, The Barn is a place with a story. This property is part of our family’s everyday life—a place filled with animals, adventures, gatherings, and memories—and we love having the opportunity to share a little piece of it with others.

A beautiful space to stay on a beautiful property. The host, Kim and Jeremy were as sweet as they could be. Horses and an adorable donkey were such a pleasure to love on. Definitely will return for a longer stay in the future.

My husband, son, dog and I absolutely loved this place. The horse, donkey and dogs were my favorite part of the stay. My son made friends with the owners son while there and made this trip extra special. Can’t wait to go back. P.S I literally cried when I left.

Perfect weekend getaway!

Fantastic property and a cozy stay. If you enjoy animals and nature, this is a unique offering allowing freedom to directly engage the horses, goats and openly explore the property. The owners are an absolute pleasure to interact with and were more than accommodating with our experience. 10/10

We had a great time here. My wife is a huge animal lover and she really enjoyed the dogs (Beau and Ruby) free roaming the property. They spent a lot of the evening inside with us and some of the following morning. It was a great experience to be able to walk out the door and right into the stable to meet the horses. The hosts had everything there that was needed to get us through our stay. They were in communication with us throughout the stay to make sure we were happy. Very friendly, accommodating folks. We’ve already talked about when we would like to go back. Highly recommend this place.

Wonderful

We needed a quick getaway, and this was perfect. It was cold outside, but perfectly cozy inside. The animals were friendly and playful. We didn’t get to explore the outdoors much because it was too cold, but we would definitely go back.

Too short of a stay!

We visited the property for an overnight while in the area for Tecumseh and a stroll through town. We underestimated just how much we would have preferred to simply relax at The Barn! The property was very comfortable and we could have benefitted from a few more days to unwind and enjoy all that the property has to offer. We are definitely hoping to book again for a long weekend…with no additional plans!

What a great place! If you like and/or grew up on expansive land this is a great place to visit. It is absolutely beautiful if you take the time to wander the property and see all of its glory. Ellie and Ruby are family at the point and they both had a blast with our dog. Accommodations in the barn are super comfortable and cozy! Highly recommend! Thanks Kim!!

Quaint Barn

Cozy areas with some creature comforts. Place is as shown in pictures and host description. Only complaint was prevalence of stink bugs. Most found were already dead so there was pest treatment.

The Cairn Creek Barn was so perfect for a family getaway, especially if you love horses. Everything about the place was so thought out. All possible amenities from refrigerator, coffee maker, coffee, pots & pans, toaster, pour over coffee, shower, luxurious towels, washer & dryer, high chair, pack & play, extra sheets & blankets, sofa bed, air conditioning, large TV with streaming, intimate & family sized balconies, sitting area downstairs, fire pit, porch swing, horses, ponies, cats and dogs. The property is so picturesque and perfect for hiking. Only 15 minutes from shopping and downtown Chillicothe. An hour from Columbus & Hocking Hills. Our host was so gracious & friendly. Also home to Spud Run Golf. Will certainly return again & again.

My husband and I have called southern Ohio home for most of our lives, and family, faith, animals, and the outdoors are at the heart of how we live. We raised our four boys here and have spent years creating a property where people can slow down, enjoy nature, and make memories together.

I’m a teacher by background, an animal lover, and happiest when I’m outside—usually with horses, dogs, kids, or some combination of all three! I love sharing this little piece of the country with others.

Hosting The Barn is special to me because I want guests to feel genuinely welcome here. Whether you’re visiting family, celebrating something special, exploring southern Ohio, or simply looking for a peaceful place to get away, I hope your time at Cairn Creek feels comfortable, relaxed, and a little bit like coming home.

We chose this area because it gives us something that is becoming harder and harder to find—room to breathe.

Cairn Creek is tucked into the beautiful countryside of southern Ohio, surrounded by woods, open fields, wildlife, and the everyday sights and sounds of country life. You may see horses grazing, hear the birds in the morning, catch deer passing through, or simply enjoy an evening where the stars aren’t competing with city lights.

What we love most is the balance. It feels peaceful and removed from the busyness of everyday life, while still being convenient to Chillicothe and everything the surrounding area has to offer.

There’s just something special about life out here. It’s quieter, slower, and a wonderful place to reconnect with the people you’re traveling with—or simply enjoy a little peace and quiet for yourself.
