About this property
2BR/1BA Gorgeous Home and Private Gardens - First Hill/ Central District
Welcome! The Dearborn Cottage is a fully furnished 2BR/1Bath contemporary farmhouse in the heart of First Hill/ Central District.
Fully remodeled in 2021, the Dearborn Cottage has features two bedrooms (full on main floor, queen upstairs), updated kitchen, dining room, generous living room, and a private, fenced garden. We designed it as a place to take refuge and recharge in the city, we can't wait to welcome you.
The Cottage is located a block from Judkins Park, with upstairs views of Puget sound and the Seattle skyline. Walking distance or <5 min drive to terrific coffee, drinks, restaurants, parks and trails, groceries, as well as all first hill Hospitals and the Seattle Bouldering Project.
Bedrooms
The bedrooms feature abundant natural light and storage for short or long term stays. All textiles are a minimum of OEKO-Tex 100 standard. All bedding is organic cotton and linen.
Modern Bath
Toiletries are sourced from Public Goods with sustainable ingredients free of parabens, sulfates, toxins, and packaged in biodegradable alternatives to single-use plastic.
Dedicated Workspace
There is a formal workspace in the Cottage, with a desk, writing chair, multiple outlet/ USB charging station, and task lighting. Pure white walls make projecting a breeze. Whiteboard available upon request.
Fully Outfitted Kitchen
The kitchen is set up the way we'd want it at home. Dishes and flatware for large meals, pots, pans, bowls, baking and serving utensils, knives that are actually sharp, and all the tools you'll need. Toaster, Microwave, professional-grade 5-burner gas range and french door SS fridge with bottom freezer.
Regenerative Landscaping
The garden is one of the best parts of the home. The backyard is fully fenced, surrounded by mature trees, and elevated above the street for a wonderful sense of privacy. Outdoor table and chairs are all set up on the deck - enjoy!
The front lawn features a landmark maple tree, with adirondak chairs perfect for morning coffee and watching the world go by.
Trees include plum, fig, and a mini-orchard of apple trees, climbing roses, and perennial flowers. You may meet our resident bunnies. Enjoy culinary herbs and help yourself to any and all of the fruit and flowers when the season is right. If you're curious about this, we're happy to share what we've learned so far!

About the host
Hosted by Kate Knight
My husband and I are local, and I was born and raised in Seattle - we love it here and will be more than happy to help you discover the city and make it feel like home.
We love to run, cycle, swim, sail and anything else involving the water. Also love to cook and entertain - so you will find the home fully stocked with everything you could possibly need.
I have been an host for years - originally with Airbnb in Manhattan, and have traveled as a guest in London, Hawaii, Bonaire and Portugal - all have provided access to spectacular places I never could have found otherwise. It started out as an experiment, and we found that we love the process as both guest and hosts. We're proud to be 5-star superhosts on Airbnb and are new to the VRBO community. Can't wait to welcome you, whether you want a quiet retreat or a kitchen-table chat about the neighborhood, city, and your own adventures.

Why they chose this property
We absolutely love the neighborhood, we live here too!
It's called the Central District for a reason - a lovely tree-lined residential neighborhood, with easy access to all the best that Seattle has to offer. Downtown is a mile away, a delightful explore to the International District, Pioneer Square, and the waterfront. To the east you've got the mountains - it's only 20' drive to Cougar and Tiger Mountain for gorgeous hikes.
Some of my best days we don't even leave the neighborhood! Dogs, people, bikes, coffee, drinks, and all are a stone's throw from the Dearborn Cottage.

What makes this property unique
We designed this home to be the kind of place we want to stay when we're traveling. Past guests have been surprised at the quality of the linens, the kitchen supplies, art, books and toiletries. They're all the ones we have at home. We were told so many times that we did more than we "needed to," - and that's OK! We want the space to feel welcoming, warm, and abundant. This house is infused with joy. Welcome.
