Framed by a backdrop of evergreens and views of Puget Sound from the front porch, The Doctor's House is a unique - but quintessential - Whidbey Island experience. This standalone cottage is part of the century-old Fort Casey Inn, a wonderful home base for your island explorations.
The Fort Casey Inn dates back to 1909, with its cottages once serving as quarters for non-commissioned officers at neighboring Fort Casey. Today, the adjacent Fort Casey State Park is one of the most beautiful spots to explore on Whidbey Island, with its bunkers and batteries, a lovely lighthouse, driftwood-strewn beaches, and awe-inspiring sunset views of the Olympic Mountains across the water. You can walk to the Coupeville Ferry Dock (which connects to Port Townsend) and drive to the Ebey's Landing Bluff Trail (three miles) and picturesque downtown Coupeville (four miles) in a matter of minutes.
As part of the inn, this two-story house enjoys access to grills and picnic tables on the grounds. If you're traveling with a group, the meeting space at Garrison Hall is even available for gatherings and retreats.
Step inside to find atmospheric details throughout the house, including coffered ceilings, wood floors, and checkered tile in the kitchen and bathroom. Enjoy a spacious eat-in kitchen where you can cook and dine with ease, a gas fireplace in the living room to curl up next to afterward, and seats on the front porch for coffee, dessert, or an evening glass of wine. There's no TV to distract from the quiet setting, but complimentary WiFi is provided for your convenience.
