About this property
Escape To The Country In Comfort And Style In An Eco-Friendly House
Have you ever wanted to have the quiet and solitude of being in the rolling countryside away from the stress of the city but still have all the comforts of a modern, luxurious house with a porch and rocking chairs to sit on while you commune with nature and watch the world go by? This 3 bedroom, 2 bath house on a working farm has all of this while being only 1 hour's drive from downtown Kansas City (45 minutes drive from World's of Fun, Oceans of Fun, and MCI airport), 20 minutes drive from St. Joseph Missouri and Missouri Western State University, 15 minutes drive from Atchison Kansas and Benedictine College, 15 minutes from Snow Creek Skiing, and 40 minutes drive from Fort Leavenworth Kansas. The house has 1 large bedroom with ensuite bathroom and two other large bedrooms with a shared bath, wood-burning fireplace, large front porch, large open plan kitchen, dining room, and all of the modern conveniences that you'd expect from a house that is less than 20 years old. If it's peace and quiet that you're after then this place is what you're looking for. It's a half-mile from the state highway on the top of a big hill so you have a panaramic degree view in all directions. The house is ideal for watching sunrises and sunsets but if you want to keep current on everything happening in the rest of the world then you can connect to the Wi-Fi. Bed linen, pillows, and towels are provided for all 3 bedrooms. Our guest safety is always one of our top priorities and the house has a full basement with a concrete floor and walls that is accessed via a staircase through the laundry room. In the event of a storm or tornado warning guests can go to the basement and be safe until the storm passes. The basement also has a separate secure outside walkout staircase with a steel door that provides an exit directly away from the house into the yard in case of a catastrophic weather event. We recently added solar panels to harvest the sun's free electrical energy and we feel good that we're doing everything we can to lower our house's use of commercial electricity that is generated using coal in this area. The panels are held in place by ground-mounted racks that are several meters away from the house and there are photos of the installation on this site.

Great place to just get away for a few days We would highly recommend if you were looking for a place in the Rushville, St Jo Missouri area Look forward to staying we this hosts again
We never needed to contact the host for anything. They even plowed the driveway and cleaned the sidewalk off before we arrived. Secluded setting and less than 20 minutes to Snowcreek.
We loved our stay at this beautiful family farmhouse. One tip I have is to include in description that the house is at the end of the driveway of the host’s property. We loved watching the cattle each day and enjoyed seeing the sunset on the front porch. The house was perfect for us! Thanks for a great stay.
We had an absolute great time staying here! The house was clean, and had everything we needed. The kids LOVED looking for the cows, and seeing them outside. We would definitely stay here again!
This is the 4th time I have stayed at this property and I absolutely love it! It always feels like I am coming back home. The host is amazing and VERY responsive and we always have everything we need. My favorite thing here is to walk the property and stargaze at night as there is almost no light pollution from the nearby town. Benedictine College is a short 20 minute drive into town and (Atchison, KS). I would definitely recommend coming here if you are looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life!
We had a wonderful experience during our stay in this home and we will definitely be renting this location again when we return to MO.First of, communication with both David and Jany Thomas were amazing! They responded to our questions as well as updates during our stay. The home itself was very clean when we arrived and a lot more spacious than what we expected and what the pictures shows. The appliances are updated and works well. There is speedy wifi and phone-data signal does reach the farm. That said, expect to bring some food /snacks when you get here because there are only a few delivery places that will do so.This said, being in the middle of farm-country was a great experience that we will definitely return too. Fun fact, at night, when the skies are clear, you can see a lot of stars - an experience we have yet to have living in the suburbs of FL! We were lucky that our first night here was on the night of the lunar eclipse and the blood moon...it was beautiful! My friends and I just laid on the grass in front of the fenced-in home and watch the whole process. Even the other two nights that we were there, you can still see the stars so clearly. In addition, seeing the cows during the day was a fun sight to see.Overall a relaxing experience and definitely recommend!
If you are looking for a place to just kick back and relax this is it. This is a very nice house in a beautiful location. Quiet and secluded with very few sounds of civilization to be heard.
This property was just as advertised, so we had no surprises. The house sits in a serene and peaceful setting and is well-stocked with everything we needed for our weeklong stay. Communication with the owners was seamless. We would return here if/when back in the area!
We wanted to get away from the city over the 4th holiday for some peace and quiet. We got it. Beautiful surroundings, fun to watch cows, great manager. Thank you.
we have stayed at this wonderful house on the hill about a year ago and did so again to drop of our daughter at Benedictine College. Like before we were welcomed by Jany with the house just ready to go. We needed a lot of space because my daughter does not travel tight an there was plenty. We also got to experience nature, the breeze and beautiful sunsets and the cows coming around. just awesome. We love this place.
We spent an extended time here and enjoyed it. Sunrises, cows and dogs as well as the great onsite manager.
