Wonderful

A wonderful place to get away. It has everything you need the location is incredible. You would swear you are on the ocean. Also don’t be deceived by the location. You are an easy drive from Marquette (6 miles) which expands your dining choices. Try Casa Calabria on third street great inexpensive Italian food

Wonderful Stay

The place has an amazing view and beach. This is very enjoyable and makes it feel ok if you just relax at the house instead of exploring the area. Sun rises, sun sets, the water is always right there. The place itself is good for a couple or small family comfortable with living closely. There are no doors on the bedrooms and they are linked together by a tight hallway. The bathroom is also tight. However, if you can live with that, you will enjoy yourself and have little problems. The location is wonderful: far enough to still see the stars and close enough to the city to explore. Picture rocks are less than an hour away and easy to get to. There is a wonderful lake to explore along the North country Trail a short 2 minute drive. I highly recommend canoeing the Au Train river for a day. Plan to pull off and eat lunch and bring a fishing rod. Do kayak the Picture rock. If you can't hike due to something, there is also a good view and adventure by driving up Cliff Power Rd. to see the view. If the weather is bad, don't do it in a car, but if dry, you should have fun and be able to make it. If you have children, the children's museum is a great place for your younger kids and although we did not make it, there is space mini-golf. And do not miss out on Lakenenland Sculpture park: worth a walk around to see another man's madness. Lovely and free. Paul and Colleen were very helpful if needed. They will respond quickly and work to fix a problem.

Perfect relaxing breach location

Perfect location on the beach. Our family of 4 had a great time relaxing. We loved the remoteness of the location and had fun swimming, hiking and kayaking. We hope to be back! House is very small but had everything we needed and we did not spend much time indoors.

Cottage Adventure

We enjoyed the cottage very much. It was just the right size for my husband and I. Close to the beach/water. Watching the boats and waves come in. Sunrises and sunsets were breath taking. We even got to experience the storm the one day. The pictured rocks tour was amazing. Close to towns to visit. Thank you for the use of your place !!!!

THE VIEW

The number one reason we chose this property was the view. The online photos do not do this cabin justice! It IS a rustic cabin, and the owners make sure to state that. However, when we arrived, we were stunned at the literally breathtaking view from the large windows. Once we stopped gawking at the lake, we looked at the cabin. We were expecting something less than perfect, but the cabin exceeded our expectations! The cabin is bright and welcoming, with decorative touches and necessary items. The kitchen had paper towels, trash bags, soap, rubber gloves, and more. There was ample toilet paper, foam hand soap, and even a nightlight in the bathroom! There is no closet, but we were able to hang wire hangers on the large, heavy duty shelf, which worked fine. It is a very small cabin, but for two people it was fine. The bed (we only used one to sleep, the other for storage) was very comfortable, and we both slept very well there. The bathroom was tiny, but not much can be done for that. The view from the cabin is unobstructed, and directly in front of Lake Superior. You literally walk down the stairs to the beach. And…THE VIEW!!! The owners were WONDERFUL! They were very responsive and pleasant! They offered information when asked, solved problems/questions, and were lovely! We would definitely recommend this property for a couple; it would be tight for a family or two couples. We would absolutely stay there again!

Sweet Beach Cottage

Rustic as expected. The isolated beach house location is this property’s best feature. We enjoyed private morning coffee on the back deck as well as watching July 4 fireworks that night from across the bay. Positive activity at the Ojibwa Casino was lucrative and welcomed. The handy location between Munising and Marquette also was great for various activities. Having spent 8 years in Marquette between the USAF and NMU, it was the memory stirring trip I was seeking! We did add the toaster to the kitchen inventory.

The very best vacation ever

We love this place so much , this is our fourth year and we will be back next year and for as many years as possible. The view is unparalleled and the hosts are amazing. We had a guest briefly and the three of us managed well in the space, which surprised everyone. The cottage is small, but who cares, with that view! The hosts even brought us one fresh caught trout (don’t expect this folks: we are “those people” who come every year so we are becoming friendly!) We miss it already. If you can make it work, you should rent this cottage!

Beautiful sunrise and sunset location

The location was beautiful and close to Munising and Marquette. The small very rustic cottage is situated far from the road and was very quiet. The owners were available to address an issue we had very quickly.

Great location, and more rustic than the photos

We best part of this cabin is it's location. We enjoyed being right on the beach and used the Iron Heritage bike trail every day. If you stay here, bring your bikes! The only challenge was the mice. The first night, we found our dry goods had been rummaged through and opened by a mouse, and for the rest of the week, we needed to keep dry food in a cooler or in the car to keep it away from the mouse. We saw it a few times and gave it a name. We're not mouse adverse, we just needed to know the cabin was rustic so we could prepare. The other thing that was challenging was the spiders inside. I was bit twice in the night and we did our best to keep them out, but they were very invasive. Otherwise, I'd recommend this cabin to anyone who loves sunsets and sunrises on the beach, and values bike access to Marquette!

we will always hope to come back next year

We used to travel the upper midwest looking for cool weather and water views. Now we are heading into year four(next year) of returning to this ideal for us place. Great hosts and amazing view with both Sunrise and Sunset perfection every day. And the bonus eagles! We would come back if they weren't here, but they were and often perched right outside the front porch window. If you are lucky enough to snag a week or two here, you will always want to come back.

Great little house by the lake

We enjoyed this nice little house on the lake. The lake views from almost every window in the house were spectacular and the proximity to our own little beach area out front was awesome. The owners had everything we needed stocked like firewood for wood stove and lots of beach chairs. Thank you for the great vacation spot!

Perfect Beach Vacation

I love Lake Superior and I love a beach. This cute, little cottage on a sandy Lake Superior beach that goes on forever was perfect. Please note the cottage is tiny so an additional couple would have been tight but for a couple it worked and one could not beat the view and location. We hiked in the area, headed to Pictured Rocks for a day trip and enjoyed dinner out in Marquette. But, the best part was watching the sunset at the end of the day. Thank you for sharing your lovely spot on the best lake.

Location location location!

Simply beautiful! It was one of the best vacation we ever had. It is the perfect place to just relax and enjoy the view. Watching the sunset, stargazing, bonfires and the quietness were the top thing we loved. The cottage is small and cozy, and has everything you need. We would definitely come back.

Incredible vacation spot

This was our best ever vacation. We frequent Marquette, we both graduated from NMU, but this location was a step up for us and incredibly beautiful. You can't beat the views, the sense of privacy like you have the whole lake to yourself. Very cute, comfortable cottage. It's cozy, perfect for a couple. We used the second bedroom area for our luggage and clothing and didn't feel cramped. Great location to head out for all the area has to offer. We biked, hiked, boated, kayaked, swam every day, had bonfires, stargazed, endless opportunity for amazing recreation in the U.P. We definitely hope to be back. Until next time!
