The perfect spot for a late summer trip. The house is gorgeous and very clean. We spent our time sitting by the lake enjoying its beauty and the peace. A great week!
The cottage and lake front area is even more welcoming and beautiful than the listing and photos show. I stayed for a week at the beginning of October with my husband and sister-in-law. The home was immaculately clean. The bedrooms and living area were spacious and very nicely appointed, with every amenity we needed to enjoy our stay. The lake views from the living areas, both bedrooms, and deck area were breathtaking. Best of all, the lawn fronting the lake is larger than it appears in the photos -- very private thanks to trees and lanscaping. It was a wonderful place to enjoy the lake on peace and quiet from the provided lawn seating. We were in contact with the hosts a couple of times before our stay and received prompt, friendly, and helpful responses. Was visiting from VA to take a weaving course in nearby Harrisville and would definitely want to stay again if we return to the area.
My mom and I love this place! The weather was perfect so helped. Very clean and Tim was very helpful when I had a question.Tv is a little quiet for my mom who is hard of hearing so we brought our headphones this time. Couldnt get the grill to light which was a bummer and had to go get lobster utensils as couldnt find those. But absolutely love the property, location, house, and water! We brought out kayaks and it was wonderful!
The property was amazing right on the lake. Sunsets were stunning!

Mandi,
We love sunsets by the fire pit in the fall, with all the colors of the leaves and the crisp air off the lake. Stunning time to be there! Thank you for enjoying our home!

We enjoyed this home surrounded by nature; the lakeside fishing, the beautiful flowering dogwood trees and incredible songbirds serenading us daily. We downloaded an app - Merlin ID - to distinguish which birds were present. The place itself provided comforts of home and we slept peacefully in bed. Bring insect repellent as May brings out the bugs.
The spot is quiet, serene and perfect for a relaxing getaway.
The house is sunny, spacious and clean. It has a very modern/cottage feel with everything you need.

Glad you enjoyed it Crystal. Thank you for the kind review.
We had such a wonderful stay at Jaimee and Tim’s lake house! It was the perfect spot for a relaxing trip with just the three of us—two adults, a toddler, and of course our furry friend. The home was cozy, clean, and well-stocked with everything we needed, from kitchen supplies to extra blankets. The best part was definitely the lake access—mornings on the deck with coffee and peaceful views, afternoons playing by the water, and evenings watching the sunset were magical. Our little one loved exploring the yard, and our dog was in heaven with all the space to run and sniff! The hosts were responsive and thoughtful, and the whole experience was smooth from booking to checkout. Highly recommend!
Great way to kick off late spring in New Hampshire. Place was a great quiet location right on the water. It was a bit damp due to rains but with the right gear it was wonderful. The property was well appointed with everything we needed. With a few steps we were standing in the water. Has a nice deck and a location for a fire (too wet for an outdoor fire for us).Great location for a trip of beautiful New England tows. Big community of Keene not too far for major supplies.
Nice lakeside cottage. Clean and comfortable staycation. Beautiful lakeside views. Would schedule less excursions for a return stay next time to enjoy the property more.
Really lovely property right on the water. The views from the sitting room and bedrooms of the lake and foliage are fantastic, and the deck and lawn are spacious and well-appointed with a nice grill, fire pit, and seating. Check in process was seamless and communication with our hosts was great. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet getaway with friends or family!

A definite gem on Highland Lake. We brought kayaks and paddle boards, and enjoyed the many lake birds we heard and saw. Stars were bright at night - we spotted a couple meteors and the Milky Way. The house is very comfortable - clean and modern - and the views from the windows of the lake were lovely. Highly recommend!
Very nice lake front house. Like new kitchen. Rooms were nicely decorated. A good house for either 2 couples or 4 person family. Our dog enjoyed playing in the water. Which was perfect for swimming or kayaking, crystal clear, perfect temperature. My only caveat, is there is an incline from the parking space to the front door. I had some problems navigating it, since I have balance issues. It's not a deal breaker. But if you have elderly family members it might be an issue. Otherwise the house was clean, comfortable, roomy. I highly recommend this property and would go back. It is a beautiful, private location. Neighboring houses were not easily visible. Sunset view, and you could see a mountain looking north.

Thank you Gretchen. I’m glad you had a good stay and loved our lake house. The lake is special and perfect for swimming, kayaking, fishing, and floating.
Clean and very roomy for 4. Close access to lake having private dock on property. Water is very shallow around dock, fine for small boat. Very weedy lake, not really ideal for swimming near property. For fishing this place was great, which we did a lot of. Landed a couple of big bass right off the dock..Nice to have laundry and good kitchen setup.

Glad you enjoyed the fishing. The shallow water is nice for kids and for wading out into the deeper water further out, especially the sandy area to the right, near the tire swing. Glad you found some of the bass in the lily pads off the left side of the dock. 380 feet of frontage so there's something for everyone -- the bass and the swimmers!
My wife and I kayaked from one end of lake to the other, took two 4 hour trips to complete but worth all the work to get the boats (14 footers) to the water. There is a marina close by with boat ramp. But sadly the web site for it is inaccurate. It says the restaurant is open, but hasn’t been open for four years.

Robert,
Thanks for the 5 star review and for sharing how much fun you had on your kayaks a few weeks ago. It’s such a great lake for kayaks and canoes. Lots of nooks and crannies — especially Pickerel Cove — and the hidden waterfall across the way from our home is a fun place to discover.
The lake is a quiet haven for kayakers all seasons of the year even during busy summer weekends when powerboats and water skiers are enjoying a summer day on the water.
The Highland Lake Marina has been off and on since the new owners bought it several years ago and began renovating it. It was open for gas again recently and we keep hearing that it will resume full operations with dining and convenience store items again soon. Thankfully the Mill Village General Store is only a few minutes ride by car from the house. It has sandwiches and their own fresh made pizza, wine and beer, and a new screen porch for relaxing. I recall boating down there a long time ago but I think you get there just by car these days.
Thanks again! Glad you enjoyed the home and the lake as much as you did!
The Cozy Lakefront Cottage is a quiet escape in a secluded spot. We enjoyed the lake every day and the amenities of wifi and satellite were appreciated. The kitchen is great with a professional stove. We will book this again. Charlene

My husband has been coming to Highland Lake for over 45 years. He loves the peace and serenity of the lake. Not to mention the fishing and the sounds of the loons at night. He can provide ideas for hiking trails, mountain bike rides, canoe trips, good fishing spots on the lake, jumps off rocks into the lake, and so on. We have a number of excellent restaurants to suggest, starting with the Hancock Inn in Hancock, or Pearl in Peterborough. Shop at 12Pine for high end food and groceries, and visit Pitcher Mountain in late July and August for blueberries. Ask any question and we'll be glad to help make your stay wonderful.
