Very cosy, private accomodation with handy extras - kitchen items, books, games. The kids loved the bunks. We got to see the Aurora from the deck! Loved the silence - absolutely no light or noise pollution. It was a shame the sauna wasn’t working and we struggled with the hot tub temperature but Margaret was very responsive and helpful in fixing that. Very happy to recommend.
Nice cabin in a beautiful location. We were never able to get the hot tub working correctly due to a fault temp gauge. On our last night is was almost usable. The gps coordinates dont take you to the correct location but the host provides instructions which get you there eventually. If they can get the temperature control for the house and hot tub fixed this would be an amazing stay. The host is responsive, nice, and the cabin is very clean.
The house itself is a beautiful wood cabin that is very clean and well kept. The jewel in its crown is its location, it has amazing views and a river a stones throw away. Loved it there
The views from this property and deck were beyond words. It was exactly what my family needed to relax in Iceland for a couple days. The host was extremely responsive and easy to communicate with. I greatly appreciated this property and would go back in a heartbeat!

Location was beautiful - just like the pictures. You should include even more pics of the river which is almost right at the end of the driveway - what a great view. We spent time wading through the river and I enjoyed running through the area and the fields. Once we went off the main road to the house, we only saw one other car - pure quiet. Easy access to Borgarnes which we went to multiple days. The main living room is spectacular with windows on 3 sides. Hosts were very responsive and helpful. Outdoor shower was very useful, hot tub is great. Know sauna room heater needs fixing so was not available - will be great for future guests. I would gladly stay again and highly recommend for those who enjoy the outdoors. Thank you for sharing your home with our family from the USA - Iceland is wonderful.
The property is just as listed. The cabin is located on a gravel road out on private property near a lake. The view was beautiful and although there are a couple other cabins nearby, they are basically invisible from the house. It was definitely the perfect cabin getaway.
Margrét was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Due to the location off a small road and through gravel roads, I recommend arriving before dark. Margrét provided excellent directions, however it was difficult to see the small roads in the dark.
If given the opportunity, I would stay at this cabin again.

Perfect!
This place was so wonderful, and Margret and Fredrik are terrific hosts, very responsive and helpful.
My husband and I stayed here for four nights with one other couple. We loved the location, and loved coming back to it after a day of hiking, etc., to cook dinner and to enjoy the hot tub. The one rainy day we had was saved by the fact that we could hang out and enjoy the views: the horses across the way, the mountains in the distance.
The kitchen has everything you could need, including the quietest dishwasher.
We agreed, it was one of the best things about our trip to Iceland. (and we had plenty of wonderful experiences!)

This is not a standard Vrbo. This is a lovely home in a remote area beside a river.
The owners could not be better. They were available, but they were not at all intrusive. They made sure to alert us to a yellow Highwind day.
I am from a place with Highwinds, but I could not have anticipated the intensity of a yellow alert, and it would have been difficult and dangerous to drive, or to hike on exposed mountain trails .
The home has a cabin feel to it, but it has very modern infrastructure.
Do not come here to be loud, noisy and reckless because it is clearly someone’s home.
Come here to be in nature, to step away from your every day, busy life, and experience, equal parts, piece, and exhilaration.

Hidden gem
I cannot say enough about this property. The pictures don't do the home and setting justice! Located 15 minutes north of Borgarnes, it is the perfect location to explore the north western portion of Iceland. There are just too many sites to see, locations to visit and waterfalls to discover to list. We were within three 1/2 hours to Vik passing through Reykjavik ( 1 HR 20 min) , Selfoss ( 1 HR 45 min) etc. The house has all the amenities you would need for cooking to save $ on eating out. We were a family of 6 who fit in perfectly. There is a hot tub that was great for evenings after hiking and a sauna, although we didn't use it. The outdoor shower was perfect!!!
The wifi was strong and for $20 we signed up and used it all week long with no interruption.
the house is situated within a stones throw from a beautiful river with a farm and roaming horses across the way. Just really comfortable and scenic as well. Margret was very responsive to all communications and flexible on our check out allowing us to stay a bit longer on Saturday as we shuttled half our group back to the airport. Just really accommodating!!!
Shop at the Bonus in town and buy ALL of your alcohol at the duty free shop before leaving the airport. You will save 30%! No kidding with that....
Book this house, you will not regret it!!

Thank you very much for your generous comments. Hope to see you again. Regards, Margret
Very nice cabin with a great view of the river and several glaciers and mountains
About 20 minutes from Borgarnes. Cabin was comfortable and convenient to many of the sites in the south/southwest area of Iceland. About 45 min to Snaefellsjokull Natl Park and other sites on the peninsula. Recommend stopping at a grocery store before getting to the cabin. Borgarnes has a Netto and Bonus store. Both good. Also, there are gas stations right in town.
We were a family of 5 adults and were comfortable. It would have been a bit crowded with more than 5 adults. Also, the road to the house from the highway is a bit rough. We had an all wheel drive SUV, so no issues. Otherwise, we enjoyed the stay and woould recommend this place as a base for seeing the sites on the south and east side of the island.
We had a great stay at this house. Five guests - two adults and three children. Views are amazing. House is very comfortable with a large living room. Kids loved the hot tub. Hosts were responsive and accommodating.

Secluded beauty
The cottage was beautiful - so cozy and warm. We enjoyed using the sauna and the hot tub, and having a fire every night. And we had the opportunity to see the Northern Lights our very first night there! It was a dream come true. We hope to make it back there one day.

Perfect Vacation!
My husband and I stayed at this lodge for a week at the beginning of October. We loved it! The house was warm, inviting and clean. The surrounding and river were so beautiful - we didn't want to leave! We explored the Golden Circle, Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Reykjavik and the south coast (black beach) all using Margret's lodge as out home base. Coming back to the hot tub every evening was a job (we even witnessed the Aurora a few times)! Thank you for everything!
