We were unable to stay at this location because when we arrived there was only 1 towel in the unit. We contacted the owner who could not get us any more towels so we immediately left to look for another place to stay. The owner was quick to respond and cancelled our reservation and refunded us what we paid
My wife and I were looking for something unique for a weekend retreat for just the 2 of us. This place was perfect. We loved the upstairs lift where we could sit and read while looking out at the forest. The arch windows all over the place let us enjoy the woods even while we were inside. We got to enjoy the hot tub while it was raining and even a little thunder storm. And the bbq was perfect. Definitely worth the trip and would highly recommend if you were looking to have a private experience in the woods with tons of amenities.
Fantastic stay at this unique property! We love the wood-fired sauna and hot tub on the cold winter weekend. The living space is so cozy for quiet reading time or board games! Would love to return again!
My friends and I had the chance to start 2025 in this beautiful cabin. The cabin itself is cozy and full of character, and the surrounding nature makes for a wonderful stay. The hosts were extremely responsive and prompt with their replies.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving here with our daughter, who lives in Portland. The house is very comfortable and features an outdoor hot tub and a wood-stove-heated sauna. Its unique design includes large, beautiful windows, and is situated on a lovely, wooded property.
My college roommates and I try and do a getaway every year, in a different location. This year was Maine and we stayed here. The house is well stocked with bedding, pillows, kitchen needs and is geared for a small family or group of friends. There were 4 of us, and it worked fine for our needs. It’s was quite relaxing and made for a nice reunion spot. It’s a bit of a funky fun house- there are lots of steps and stairs (and even a VERY steep ladder to get to the crows’ nest bedroom!) The cabin has lots of charm and amenities… sauna, hot tub, whirlpool tub in the second bathroom. But if you’re not sleeping in either bedroom, there’s no curtains/window treatments so you’ve got the pitch black of the forest around you at night and the sun of the day streaming through the rest of the time. It’s just a short walk to the lake but you can only see it (not touch it or get close) because everything is private property on the lake right there. To get to a beach, you have to drive. We went to the beach at the state park (about a 20-25 minute drive?) which is a good choice for a day trip. There is a fee and it’s 8/non-resident person, 6/resident. There’s a great quality market (The Good Life Market) with delicious deli sandwiches and lots of good quality food, wine, etc. Bob’sseafood was great for lunch (best lobster rolls of the trip) and the drive to Portland and Freeport was only about an hour away, for a day of shopping. We’d stay at the cabin again (but bring sleep masks!)
We really enjoyed the property. The kids spent most of the time building fires in the fire pit or sitting in the hot tub! We did some hiking and exploring as well. The house is gorgeous and the Kids have already asked if We can go stay there again!
The property was beautiful. Josh and Gayle were super responsive to our needs. Even through the storm and losing power, they answered the phone right away and credited us for the night we missed. We loved getting away for a few nights for our honeymoon. 100% recommend for a sweet getaway with any crowd!
This home was so cute. We loved the spiral staircase and loft. Plenty of room for card games and a movie. The outside grounds were inviting with a fire pit, several seating areas and the hot tub. We did not use the sauna, maybe next time. The kitchen had everything we needed to make some delicious meals. Overall a lovely place for a quiet weekend getaway.
We needed extra room for our large family as we've outgrown our family camp and this was a perfect house to accomodate 2 extra couples on our summer vacation on Sebago. Unfortunately, we didn't get to use many of their cool features, like the awesome hot tub and fire pit. It would lbe an amazing place to stay in the shoulder seasons to enjoy cooler weather as well. The hosts were SUPER accomodating and wonderful to communicate with. We will be back again for sure!

Never again
The house pictured was well kept and clean the home we got had weeds growing up everywhere, including in walkways and stairs. Pictures of the outdoor sauna was shown clean and well kept. What we got was dirty spider ridden cobwebs everywhere. None of the three lights worked so was unusable to use. The chairs for the fire pit were to be in a shed, but were actually turned upside down around the fire pit again filthy could not be used less cleaned. The hot tub cover was filthy and moss covered but will say once the cover was removed the hot tub inside was spotless and we did use once. The device that was there to lift the cover off the hot tub was nonfunctional , and none of us wanted to fight through the dirt and mold to move the cover again which was very heavy. On the inside of the home, we were not told the second bedroom was up two flights of stairs and the one staircase you had to climb was almost straight up and was not very safe. Once we got up there, I opened the blinds and found the one outside window pain was all broken up and the pieces left sitting right there in the window. The tv’s did not work for 4 days then only every so often due to no signal. There were no lights besides lamps on second floor and one night my husband tripped over carpet and fell through a plate glass coffee table because he had to walk over carpet and around coffee table to get to lamp for lights. Half the lights did not work or had no bulbs or burnt out.Much more but have no more room.
An amazing property, but there were some unforeseen circumstances like a snowstorm that caused us to lose power and water and ultimately cancel the trip. The stove also wasnt working when we arrived which was a bummer as we had bought a bunch of food to cook but we were willing to work around it with the oven and a burner on the grill outside. An amazing rental, just double check that everything is working before for guests. The host was very responsive and worked with us in real time to resolve issues, and gave us a large refund. Would stay here again and hope we can redeem the trip on a future weekend.
The host and hostess of this property couldn’t have been more accommodating and responsive to any questions that we have… Perfect place for a small family Get away… The outdoor Amenities were an added, bonus… The outdoor hot tub and dry/steam sauna we are great to have… Especially if they were days where you just wanted to hang around all day… We loved the set up because it was an open concept downstairs so we were all together hanging out throughout the day, and you really felt like you were secluded in the woods, even though it was a neighborhood. Their house is set back pretty far from the street and went to a very rustic atmosphere if you’re looking to be in the woods… Overall a fabulous trip… The only thing I would not recommend is Small children due to the spiral staircase… And the loft staircase… Otherwise perfect in every other way…
The home is very nice. It had everything we needed to be comfortable. While at the property, the weather was terrible, which was not the property owners fault.
We were told too late to bring a fire stick for television use. That television should have been in good working order. Access to a local beach was not available to us. Due to daily rain, the hot tub was not used but was available. We did enjoy our stay and visited friends who lived locally.
We recommend this property to others, but bring your a fire stick.
Josh and Gayle's place is nice and as described. I choose their place because I was looking for a relaxing, quiet retreat that included a hot tub. I had an issue with the hot tub randomly shutting off on the first day of my stay, but Josh was responsive and got the issue resolved in a couple days due to it being the weekend. There were a couple more inconveniences I experienced during my stay: the stove top was broken with no backup cooking surface provided and there was not a clear, shoveled path from the deck to the hot tub upon arrival (I dug one out). There is a functional oven and microwave, but a temporary hot plate or additional free standing burner would be ideal until the stove top is replaced.
Overall, the house and property provided a relaxing environment and is conveniently located, you'll even get to see a herd of deer wandering through the property at dusk.
This was a great house for relaxing! It very clean with plenty of towels, pillows, etc. It said A/c but they were only in the upper loft and 1st floor bedroom. That was a little tough since it was so hot the week we were there. I don’t recommend staying if you have children under 5-6. The loft bedroom and spiral staircase made me super nervous with a small child. Older kids or adult should have no issue. The hot tub was wonderful and unfortunately we didn’t get to utilize the sauna. It was very peaceful set back in the woods. We were 5-10 mins from Sabego lake with great places to swim, rent boats or hike. Grocery store, ice cream and things for kids are also close by. Josh responded very quickly to any questions we had and was very helpful! We would absolutely come back on the cooler months to enjoy the property more! Thank you for a great stay!

Quirky and unconventional house, great hot tub and sauna, not ADA friendly
We were 2 couples staying here and overall had a good time in this very quirky and unconventional house, especially for the price, but a few things are worth noting for future renters. Pros: in a neighborhood but feels very remote/private; very clean upon arrival; great hot tub and sauna; cozy upstairs tv and sitting area, big windows with lots of natural light; 30-40 mins from Portland. Cons: downstairs bedroom was boiling hot even with the heat turned almost all the way down, and the en-suite bathroom is very small and the stall shower flooded the day we left; the loft bedroom has an extremely treacherous climb to reach (including to get to the bathroom which is one floor below) and is quite cold though has a space heater. If anyone has physical limitations, a fear of heights, or needs the bathroom a lot, the loft bedroom won’t work. The host sent detailed instructions and information though unfortunately only the day-of, and this included telling us the stove top wasn’t working which was not ideal when preparing meals and groceries for a 3 night trip. The Wi-Fi and tv worked well (there is cable) though you need a Roku or fire stick to get streaming.
The house was centrally located between different beaches on Sebago Lake, but I thought we would have access to Sebago Lake right at the house.
The inside of the house was very clean, but the outside wasn't.
We had to wash down the deck, chairs, table & clean away leaves in the pathways of the grounds.
It was a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing home and we would go back again.
Thank you
My parents, 1-yr-old son, and I visited Maine for the first time in hopes of exploring a new state and combining some R & R with some adventures/exploring. We used the cabin as a home base and it provided wonderfully for our needs. We rented a car and did a long trip to Acadia one day and other trips to Boothbay. Otherwise, we remained local and went to Sebago Lake State Park a couple of times, Raymond beach + did a sunset kayak tour. Grocery and other stores are just down the road. Although the property and amenities might give the impression that it’s incredibly remote, it is quiet in a wooded area (despite being a mile or so from a main road) yet close enough to shopping and major intersections. Would definitely stay again!
This property was awesome. We had a very relaxing weekend

About the host
Hosted by Josh and Gayle Genn
We traveled 6 hours to view property and returned three times thereafter to marvel at it before we purchased it from the original owner, a local artist who built the house and viewed it as a work of art. We hope to continue his vision and share his passion for the intertwining of both a unique architectural structure and nature.
Why they chose this property
This quiet, relaxing home is perfect for families, couples or friends seeking to find a peaceful getaway in a secluded, picturesque setting. It is close to all seasonal amenities be it hiking the trails, cycling, all water sports and fishing on Lake Sebago, Winter sports include snowmobiling, cross country and down hill skiing. Property is just 5 minutes from Sebago Lake State Park.
