About this property
Spectacular riverfront treehouse in Beautiful Bedford County, PA,
This rustic, well appointed treehouse rises into the trees, suspended on two huge trees and supported by posts. It is accessed by 14 easy steps. It includes a full kitchen, a living and dining area, a full bathroom, a private sleeping loft, and a huge deck overlooking the river below, just a stone's throw away. A second deck, below the treehouse and out of the weather if it rains, features a 4 person hot tub/spa, comfy seating and a dining table. A few steps from that deck will take you to the firepit, great for those hot dog roasts and staying warm on the chilly nights. Another few steps is the river, great for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. The inside of the treehouse is warmly paneled in real wood from the property and furnished with a leather sectional, complete with queen sleeper inside. Custom built counter tops and furniture adorn the interior. Steps access the loft where a queen bed awaits. Lots of windows and ventilation keep it light and airy. Both heat and air conditioning are provided and a dedicated WIFI and TV for streaming are in place. The river right in front of the treehouse features a natural river pool with both shallow and deep water. Just downstream of this river pool there is shallow moving water, which is great for sitting on rocks, letting the current flow past you. The sounds of the river can be heard from both decks and just across the river is a 12 mile bike trail and a 2600 acre State Game Land. Completely undeveloped Kimber Mountain rises 1000 feet above the river and this is the view from the deck. Wildlife abounds with sightings of bald eagles, great blue herons, geese, deer, squirrels and much more. Whether you want to be active with lots to do or just hang out on the deck or by the fire, it is a great place to spend some time.

Very clean treehouse with an excellent view of the river. We had a great time exploring nearby caves and towns and were able to fully relax afterwards. The stairs to the loft are pretty steep so keep that in mind. Bruce was easy to talk to. Great stay.
Enjoyed staying at the treehouse. Such a fun and unique experience. The hosts, Bruce and his wife, were extremely accommodating and we greatly appreciate the use of their canoe.
Very nice and peaceful place to just get away and just relax. Our hosts where very respectful, very thorough and was there whenever we needed anything!
Tree house was amazing. Everything the listing described it as. Very clean and well kept. Deck was a wonderful relaxation point. Easy walk to the river. Clean hot tub was also an added bonus. Highly recommend!
thanks so much for having us! we loved the cabin and especially enjoyed the view of the river from the hot tub. everything was well stocked and bruce did a great job making us feel welcomeheads up for anyone else with mobility issues: the front stairs are a little steep so you may need some help getting up and down, but the cabin is super comfy and well worth it if you can get to it
My fiancé and I traveled to Treehouse Waters for a short weekend get away, and every box was checked! The Treehouse is absolutely beautiful and was a fantastic spot to enjoy the woods. The property allowed us to enjoy a nice relaxing weekend outside.
This property was exceptional, and the Penrod’s were gracious hosts. If you are looking to get away and enjoy the peaceful tranquility of nature, or if you enjoy fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and everything outdoors, this place is for you! Sharing this experience with my 3 teenage kids, I never heard once that they didn’t have anything to do. They loved it here and the amenities were everything we needed!
The pictures truly don’t do this treehouse justice. Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The space was enchanting, cozy, and incredibly inviting—far beyond our expectations. We especially loved relaxing in the hot tub and spending time on the upper deck, and even took a refreshing dip in the river. The living room was perfect for a cozy movie night and snuggles. Waking up in the loft to the breathtaking view of the river and mountainside was pure magic. We would highly recommend this treehouse to anyone looking for a peaceful and unforgettable getaway.
This was hands-down our favorite mountain stay in PA! Bruce has done such a nice job with the treehouse. It envelopes you in peace and tranquility to allow your stress to drift its way down the river. We look forward to returning to fish off the dock, take a canoe or kayak out for an adventure, grill on the deck overlooking the river, make s’mores around the campfire and just relax in the hot tub. Look no further than this place especially for a romantic couples retreat. Bruce could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Our time at Treehouse Waters went way too fast!
This is a new rental but the host has everything there you need to enjoy a beautiful tree house near the river. The view and sounds of the river are beautiful and time out in the canoe on the river could not be beat for any nature lover. Even with the tree house on the property of host, you do feel like you have privacy to just relax and enjoy the surroundings. The treehouse has a rustic charm with all the natural woods but has great amenities, and we took advantage of the full kitchen and grill to never really have to leave. This was a lovely weekend getaway for myself and my husband and a fun unique placee to stay!!
We had a very relaxing time. Caught many fish and hung out at the fire pit. Spent some time in the hot tub. The tree house was Clean and neat. Would not recommend it for anyone who has trouble with steps. You have to come down a ladder/steps backwards from the loft. We’re over 65 and a bathroom trip at 4 am was trouble and comical at the same time. Love the property and the host Bruce was great. Steps or not we would stay there again.

Thanks for the review. Lots of fish left to catch in the river, I'm sure. As far as the steps to the loft, they are steep to save space on the first floor but there is a good solid rail to help going up or down. And remember, there is also a very comfy queen sofa bed on the main level that even looks right out to the river.
The view waking up amidst the trees in the loft of this cozy little A-frame treehouse was a dream! We loved canoeing and swimming with our dog in a branch of the Juniata River that flowed by mere steps from the porch, biking on the nearby historic Rail Trail, and grilling on the deck set high in the canopy of the surrounding forest. The hosts were very helpful and attentive to our needs, and were open to suggestions to make the treehouse even more comfortable for future guests. This is a unique experience and we were the very first VRBO guests, so there were still a few kinks to work out, but overall what a wonderful and bucketlist-worthy weekend in this adorable treehouse!
This was our second stay at Treehouse Waters and you know how sometimes things just don’t live up to the first time? That was NOT the case here! We immediately felt the stress slide away as we took in the familiar sights of the A-frame, the cozy, well appointed kitchen and the peaceful view from the deck. We hope to make this an annual escape because we’ve never stayed anywhere quite like it and we simply can’t get enough.

Thank you Maria for the kind words. We look forward to your next visit.
We live nearby the treehouse in a self built modified A Frame house that utilized an old building that was dismantled and then added lots of beautiful lumber from our 5 acre property. We enjoy the outdoors and our garden is usually loaded with fresh vegetables and herbs, which we sometimes share with guests. You'll also see our lively English Setter, Rio, romping in his kennel next to the house.
Why they chose this property
The private lane into the property is named Penrod Beach Road after my grandfather and father. Several Penrods still live or vacation in the valley. It is still pretty quiet, private, and forested.
What makes this property unique
One of the most unique features of this treehouse is that the main structure came from lumber that was cut from trees that were the same kind and close to the trees that the treehouse is attached to. In addition, much of the paneling and hand built furniture comes from a variety of wood from the property, including cherry, oak, black walnut, ash, and more. Try to identify the different varieties.
