Depending on heat tolerance bring fans in summertime. Along with bug repellents. Maybe extra towels. But overall great location outside of town and beautiful view!
The property was well appointed and in a great quiet location with beautiful views. The living and deck areas are great locations to relax and enjoy the scenery. We stayed for a week and had a great time exploring the area and relaxing at the cabin.
The location was great! Loved the sound of the river, the views, the short walk or bike ride to the nearby trailhead. Nice and quiet and what we needed.
Great location and view. Close to downtown Crested Butte, but far enough away from the crowds. Cabin was clean and had enough space inside to accommodate 6 adults and two babies.
This was our second stay at Whetstone Cabin. It was a great hone base for our week of hiking the great trails in the Crested Butte area. The house had everything we needed to be comfortable and enjoy our time there.
We enjoyed our stay. The home was very clean and comfortable. It is close to town so that was convenient. Very peaceful. We would stay here again without hesitation and would definitely recommend. Thank you for the wonderful memories we made in Crested Butte.
This cabin is in our opinion in the best location in Crested Butte. The view from the deck is of mountains and a ranch or two. One can easily walk to one of the great, spectacular, easy hikes south of town. It's a short drive to town, but you can pretend you are in the middle of nowhere - just the way we like it! The cabin is spotless and comfortable and well-equipped. We've stayed here twice and would go back in a heartbeat.
A little more rustic than expected. Easy access to Crested Butte without being right in town. Great hiking trails begin right at the end of the driveway. Was required to put down a damage deposit and also buy a damage policy! Why both?
We visited Crested Butte for the nature and hiking. This was the perfect spot for our family. We stayed a week and had everything we needed for cooking three meals a day and having family time after our hike for the day. The kitchen was stocked with pots/pans and everything a cook needs and the grill was clean and in good condition. The sitting area was large and comfortable and the dining table big enough for games at night. It was close enough to CB to be "right there" but far enough away to be "away from it all". Steven was a great host and responded quickly when needed. I would definitely stay there again.
What a wonderful cabin tucked away in the mountains. We had a great time at this great cabin. It was tucked away so you had your privacy, but still had the views that were breath taking. Everything about our stay met our expectations. The cabin is just what you dream of being nestled in the tall trees and overlooking the East river. Away from everyone but so close to Crested Butte for adventures daily. The hummingbirds kept us entertained. The cabin is the best equipped cabin I have ever stayed in. Cooking was a treat there you had everything you needed. Just a lovely place to spend your Vaccation. The location can’t be beat!!!! It is very comfortable and felt like home. Hope to come and stay in the future.
Thanks for sharing your cabin with us.
Thanks so much!

Beautiful cabin with amazing view and very clean Easy check in and check out with simple instructions for leaving. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.
The cabin was beautiful and clean, and the kitchen well-equipped. Although secluded, the owner has a ranch that is located next to and in view of the cabin. There is no parking close to the house, so if you bring a lot of items with you, be prepared to walk a very long, narrow, uneven dirt path to the cabin. After walking the path, you step onto a wooden deck that has two steps going down before you are on the porch. These steps are not clearly marked and a little dangerous if you are not paying attention. The back deck was very large and offered spectacular views of the mountain and wildlife, and had an excellent grill, table and chairs, and other chairs for lounging. The house did not have air conditioning, but it was not needed during the time of our visit (late June). Each person was provided with only one towel and wash cloth to use, so these items had to be laundered often. All beds are extremely firm. The owner was a little aloof, and only texted when we asked a question. Did not welcome us or see if we needed anything upon checking in. No instructions on how to use the TV or pellet stove, or recommendations on local restaurants, sites or hiking trails (there are many trails close to the cabin). You can see the river below the cabin, but you are not allowed to fish as it is owned by a private Club, and the owner did not provide information on where to access public fishing. The Crested Butte area is beautiful and offers many stunning views of the mountains.
One of our most favorite trips to date. Turned this hunting cabin into the ultimate mountain biking retreat for my family including my 2 teenage sons. Everyone loved the cabin and location. Communication with the owner was easy and appreciated.
Great location and overall cute cabin. We had planned for five but only three could stay. Short walk from driveway to cabin entrance couple 100 feet along nice path. Recent pine tree fell near north side of house but guessing they will remove soon. you may want to bring your own soap we couldn’t find any but probably our fault.

Pine tree fell in April and was removed by professional tree service in September as this was the earliest date they could schedule removal due to their backlog of work. Fortunately the pine tree did not impact our guests as it was on the north side of the cabin.
My wife and I throughly enjoyed our 4 day stay at the Whetstone Cabin. Extremely clean , very thoughtfully appointed and great location ! We hope to be back.
If you are looking for a rustic cabin that is fairy secluded, this one is for you!
We stayed in this cabin June 26-July1, 2022. It was right outside of Created Butte which was nice, and it was fairy secluded. The property owner/manager lived on property which was not in the description. We did not even see them but thought I would mention so you know! You do have to park at the end of the property and walk down a very small trail to get to the cabin so if carrying luggage and all your stuff is a problem you may want to reconsider this cabin. No dishwasher, but we didn’t mind that part of it as they do have a nice grill on the huge deck. The river is viewable from the deck but no access.
All in all a nice place to stay for the money.
