Very nice, roomy property. Great place for a large group. Nestled in the trees which keeps it cool on hot days, with a beautiful view of Mullet Lake and great lake access. Enjoyed our stay.
We loved our time spent at the lake house. The kitchen was fully stocked and then some. The house was roomy and gave our family tons of room to lounge and play and relax.
Lots of room for everyone on the shores of beautiful Mullet Lake. The cottage had everything we needed. Host was very responsive. We would love to return.

Thank you Jennifer. So happy that you enjoyed your stay. Please keep us in mind for the future!
We had the best time at the VRBO! Everything was perfect. We used this location for the main family meet up each day! We will definitely stay here again when we go back sometime! The Host was absolutely amazing.
The owner was very kind to our group. No offense but most people are not happy about hosting a large group of teenagers at their house! Lol
But the owner was great and very accommodating. The house was wonderful and perfect for our group!
Would absolutely recommend staying here. The lake, the house ,the amenities- all amazing!

Happy to hear you and your family enjoyed your stay! Satisfied guests are what we strive for.
Thank you for choosing our vacation home.
Very comfortable for all 13 of us!! Lots of room and just as pictures showed it. Very quiet area. Everybody enjoyed swimming (definitely rocky!), guys loved catching fish, thoroughly the back deck & screened in porch. Caught the sunsets every night!
This was our 4th annual northern Michigan family vacation, and we all agreed that this house had the best layout and space for 3 families. There was plenty of space for the kids to play in the lower level. Everything worked well in the kitchen- having 2 refrigerators was great. We rented a pontoon boat and the large lake and river were perfect for tubing with the kids. The water bottom was rocky so good water shoes are a must. We would definitely like to stay here again.
Great place for Grandma, Grandpa, kids and grandkids to unwind from the busyness of our lives! So much room in the cottage to spread out and let everyone have their space, if wanted (even though we all seemed to gather together!). Cottage was very well stocked with most everything we needed. Plenty of space for relaxing, morning coffee, board games, conversing, sleeping, etc. Excellent location for day trips to the Island, Petoskey, Mackinaw City, and Cheboygan. Pool table was a big hit for young and old! Hope to return again and make more memories! Thank you for allowing us to use your home!
Northern Michigan and Lake Life at its finest. Joy was an amazing host! Very attentive to our needs. The Lake House is able advertised! We were very spread out and didn’t feel like we were on top of one another. The mooring cable for our boat was amazing! Very convenient. Had one rainy day, but the games and pool table was perfect for that day. Have already reserved for next year! Thank you, Joy!

Wonderful property on Mullet Lake!
We have been coming up to this part of Michigan for many years and this house was a favorite for my family, so far. All told we have six teenagers, two married couples, and a grandmother who struggle with stairs. This house fit the bill perfectly for everyone. The teens loved the basement area (especially the pool table) as well as the paddle boat. The adults loved the screened porch and it's wonderful views of the lake. The main floor laundry room was also a welcome surprise! The house had great space for spreading out and was very clean and comfortable. Joy, the owner, was quick to respond to any questions that I had before and during our stay. My one recommendation is to fix the screen doors so that they close properly. The mosquitos were fierce the week we visited (it was very hot) and they would come in through the gaps where the screen doors didn't quite fit, making it difficult to leave them open and enjoy the cool evening breezes. Overall I highly recommend this property and hope to visit again soon.

Thank you for choosing our vacation property!
We always love to have feedback from our guests. The screens will definitely be looked at and corrected.
This house sits right on Mullet lake with spectacular views. Sunsets were absolutely gorgeous. There were 12 of us all together with 8 adults and 4 teenagers. The basement was set up perfect for the teens. Everyone had a bed and there are 3 full bathrooms. 2 upstairs and 1 in the basement. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly want. No worries there. They have a pontoon boat you can also rent for the week to cruise around the lake and down the river in. The only negative we had was we had septic problems while we were there. So we had to limit the water use while there. With 12 people that wasn’t always easy to do. But Joy and Kevin were notified about the problem and they handled it immediately. They were right on top of the situation taking care of it to the best of their abilities. We really appreciated that. But it was a fantastic week getaway for our family getaway. We will definitely be back!!!

Thank you Shellie for the great review even though we were experiencing septic problems. We appreciate your understanding that when things like this happen we have no control over it and deal with it as best we can so your vacation time is not interrupted.
Relaxing and secluded lakeside retreat to quiet and calm the soul
There are different types of vacations, depending on the needs and lifestyle of the person at a given time in their lives. For us, we were looking for a quiet and relaxing place to disconnect from the hectic pace of our work lives. This lake house gave us that. Kevin and Joy (the owners) were kind and accommodating, making sure our needs were met. They are also very humble; they do not appear to mention or highlight this, but the lake house was built years ago by Kevin and his father. On one wall in the lake house there hangs a framed collage of photos showing the home being built by Kevin and his father. If you stay there, I encourage you to take a minute and look at those photographs. Maybe it means little to the average guest; but to me, it meant something. There is something different about staying in a home that was not built by a real estate developer, but by a son and his father for their family to one day enjoy.
The lake house was built well, and the location was well chosen: at the end of a quiet road, enclosed on 3 sides with the Michigan trees of that region: oak, sugar maple, beech trees. Sounds of the Northern Michigan wood life surround you. At night you hear the gentle lapping of the waves of this large lake. I suggest renting a boat; there is a unique connected series of inland waterways that you can take from the lake, down Indian River, up to Alanson, or even north to Cheboygan and Lake Huron. Pay attention to the weather reports; this is a bigger lake, and weather can make for some surprisingly rough waves and boating. But on normal days it makes for relaxing boat journey.
The lake house is huge; you will not feel cramped. Their renovated basement is huge, and walks out to the back yard. We put the pool table to good use.
The location does not sit close to any large towns, which worked for us. But nearby Indian River is nice, peaceful little town that has a market and some of other stores that will meet any grocery needs you may have during your trip.
It does run on a septic system, and has no garbage disposal. This is not an insurmountable issue (or an issue at all, really) But for the average "city dweller" it is worth mentioning here: Make sure you don't dump any leftover food in the disposal.
If you want a place to give you rest, to give you and your family a chance to connect (or re-connect), then this place will be for you.

Thank you for the glowing review. We are so happy your family enjoyed your stay with us!
We work very hard to make our lake home as comfortable and complete as possible.
Thank you for choosing our vacation home!
This was our 2nd time staying at this property. We like it because it is in a great location on the late and it has plenty of room for the whole family without everyone being on top of each other.
We will definitely be looking to stay here again.
We love spending time on mullett lake and this property did not disappoint! There was plenty of room for our family to spread out and the house was very clean. We are already booked to come back again!
Renting this Lakehouse will be one of the best decisions you’ll make to find a happy place! We were impressed by the sheer size of the Lakehouse, it was even bigger than pictured. We loved that the 12 of us, 6 adults and our 6 grandchildren ranging in age from 6 to 17, had plenty of room to be comfortable throughout the home, 2 rainy days didn’t faze us at all.
Renting their pontoon boat was a special bonus for us. The kids had a blast tubing around the lake.
Campfires in the fire pit created some special memories, too. (I don’t think I’ll be eating s’mores for a while…😜)
Listening to the loons calling and their swimming in front of the cottage made a true Michigan summer experience not to be forgotten.
I have to mention that I have NEVER seen a better equipped kitchen in any other VRBO rental we’ve visited. Every possible kitchen necessity (and pleasant extras) were provided AND they had TWO refrigerators for all our food and drink storage.
The breezes blew in over the lake and with ceiling fans everywhere we never missed air conditioning. With the mosquito invasion down state, we were thrilled that there were none!! The comfortable beds and three full bathrooms were a hit, as well.
Activities at the Lakehouse included morning coffee on the porch, jigsaw puzzles on the screened porch, board games, meals on the deck, video games and a pool table in the lower family room (a haven for the older kiddos!), and cooking together with the younger ones.
The tubing and campfire nights were so much fun, too!
Away activities included: a Petoskey rock-hunting trip on Lake Michigan, waterfall swimming, a trip to Mackinac Island, great pizza at the Inn Between in Indian River, nature hikes and stargazing.
Thank you to the owners for sharing their comfortable vacation home with our family. We were blessed by staying there!

About the host
Hosted by Kevin Danielson
My father grandfather and myself built this house during summer vacations and extended weekends. It was always a great relief to turn down Bluewater Dr. and leave the stress behind. Our family will still spend weeks at a time, enjoying the beautiful water and scenery of Mullett Lake. So please come relax, and leave the hustle and bustle of your daily lives behind, you will now be on lake time.
Why they chose this property
This has been a family home since 1978 when we built it.
What makes this property unique
Located on the east side of Mullett Lake there is generally a prevailing breeze that comes across the water. The benefit of this is generally no bugs and no need for central air. This is a large home located on a dead end street which receives very little traffic as we are located at the end. The large screened in porch makes for a wonderful entertainment area and family dining. Located 7 miles from the town of Indian River, 1/2 hour from beautiful Petoskey and a 1/2 hour to Mackinaw, makes it a good starting point for many day trips on your N. Michigan adventure. If your a golfer there a plenty of top notch public courses.
