We enjoyed everything about our stay from the house, to the location and Rita's southern hospitality! Our whole family felt at home and would definitely stay there again! Thank you for sharing such a special place with us!
We enjoyed our stay at this quaint little home located in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. Early morning and evening walks were a daily ritual. It is a short 3 minute trek to the beach and the beach cart provided made hauling chairs and beach gear effortless. It is pet friendly with a completely fenced in yard that our dogs enjoyed. The kitchen is well equipped with the necessary gadgets for day to day meal preparation. The beds are very comfortable and the master bedroom has a walk-in shower convenient for anyone with mobility issues. The sunroom in the back of the home is spacious with plenty of seating. The nice thick white fluffy towels were a plus. The property manager was very responsive, easy to reach and friendly. It’s just a short drive into Charleston and many other area attractions. We had a wonderful time relaxing, soaking up the sun and taking in all the southern charm of the Isle of Palms community.
It is a very comfortable home with a well-equipped kitchen. There was plenty of room to have a dinner with extended family members staying nearby, and the beach was a short walk away. Rita was the best host we have ever had, she was prompt and gracious in responding to our questions.
Amazing location and even though it’s not one of the “fancy” houses it had absolutely everything we needed and more.

Thank you Kim, our goal is to provide everything you need, simple and uncomplicated, we are glad you found it that way. The Isle of Palms is an amazing location and our home is very close to the beach making it a great location for families who want to spend time on the beach.
It was in the late 1940s and into the 1950s that J. C. Long developed the island with simple homes for veterans returning from WWII. Our father bought this home in 1956 while stationed at Charleston Air Force Base and though he did not serve in WWII he spent 15 years serving in the USAF. A simple home for a simple man, we keep it that way in his honor.
Great location. Nice layout. A little tired but for the price, it was a good value. Super close to the beach and Rita was communicated very efficiently. Everyone enjoyed it!
Wonderful property! Welcoming and comfortable. Rita was friendly and helpful; great communication. Clise to beach and restaurants. Great location near the inlet for shelling!! Our dog loved the backyard and the outdoor shower was a plus. We will return!
This is our second time staying at this property as it’s only one street from the beach and has easy beach entry access. The house fit 6 people comfortably and had all the amenities we needed. It’s also only a 20 minute drive to downtown Charleston! Would stay here again!
Our family has returned to the same house for a number of years now. We love the location. We have three grandchildren from the age of two years old to six years old. We feel like the home is safe and very clean. Its location is great a short walk for the girls. The host Rita is wonderful to work with. No surprises here we had a lovely time . Linda Gilstrap and family.
Location was great. Nice that the house provided beach toys and cart. Was as described in the listing. Good sized place for our family of 6 adults, 2 young kids.
Great use of space. Our favorite room was the Sun room. We had 6 adults, 1 toddler and 2 dogs and we never felt crowded. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to other families!

Nice home close to the beach
Very comfortable place to stay for a quick weekend get away. Kitchen is well appointed. House is close to beach (1-1/2 blocks) and on a quiet street. We brought our dog who had a fabulous time!!! Isle of Palms is a laid back kind of place. Beach is not too crowded at this time of year.

Thank you Margaret, we are glad you and your dog enjoyed your stay, our dogs love coming as well, we hope you are able to come back.
This house is perfect for a beach get away with the family. The location is excellent and the house has everything you could need. Rita was SO helpful and personable and responded to our inquiries within minutes. Highly recommend!
We stayed at this cute house for 10 days. The location is great - very close to the beach, restaurants and entertainment.
The home is well-equipped with everything needed to unpack and enjoy!
Rita was responsive and helpful.
We were a family of 6 (3 generations) and there was space for us all.
The property was very clean! The location is perfect, my family has three grandchildren a one year old, a three year old and a five year old. The walk is a block away and we didn’t have to carry anyone except the one year old. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. The beds are comfortable. The owner Rita is amazing.

Great House, W/C Friendly, Perfect Vacation Spot
This was the perfect vacation spot for our family. This house accommodated the whole family including one in a wheelchair, my elderly mother, and the four legged. It had everything we could possibly need, and how nice not to have to pack linens, other than the beach towels! Located within walking distance to the beach and just a short ride in to Charleston, it is the perfect location. This year we will have the addition of our grandson and we are hoping to make a return visit to this wonderful house.

Well we can not ask for a better review than perfect, thank you so much! We are so glad that it can accommodate all family members from babies to the elderly. The house has been in our family for almost 60 years, it is the first home Ann Louise and I lived in since we were both born in Charleston, it is also the last home our parents lived in. We are so glad to share it with other families. Please come again. Margaret.
This was our second trip to Isle of Palms. This property was an excellent fit our purpose. It is 25 minutes (on average) from downtown Charleston. One item on the listing that may be confusing is the 4th bedroom is more of a second living room with a fold out couch. Overall an excellent stay!

Great Stay!
This was our second vacation at the house, and it was just as pleasurable as the first visit. The home is very clean and comfortable. The owners and manager are very kind and cooperative, just a breeze to work with. While not directly on the beach, it's just a short walk. We love that end of the Isle of Palms because the beach is less crowded and during low tide it's wonderful with l - o - n - g beaches and interesting tidal pools. We had peaceful, romantic strolls on the sand.
Response from VrboOwner on 1 Apr 2020
Thank you for choosing us again. If you like exploring the beach at low tide you may enjoy going on the Barrier Island Eco Tour that leaves from the Isle of Palms Marina. There are several tours to choose from that will take you on an exploration of surrounding coastal islands and give you a chance to observe dolphins and other marine wildlife. Coastal Charleston is quite beautiful and will add to your romantic getaway. Thanks again, we hope to see you next year.
About the host
Hosted by Property Manager for Owners - Rita
We are a family of six siblings, two of us live in the Charleston area, two in Charlotte NC and two live in the Norfolk VA area. We have lots of cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends with whom we love to share this house. Our parents originally bought the house in 1956 when our father was stationed at Charleston Air Force base, two sisters were born while we lived here. Over the years there have been many family gatherings at this house and that continues today. Our fondest childhood memories are in this house and at this beach. Our own children grew up visiting our parents and enjoying the beach. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
This is a lovely, roomy ranch home located in an idyllic island community close to Charleston which is an historic and vibrant tourist area. The beach is in close walking distance to the house and the Isle of Palms is a very friendly beach even for pets in designated hours.
What makes this property unique
The house is located on the quiet part of the island with very little traffic and you can walk to the beach in less than 5 minutes, this part of the beach is not commercial and usually not at all crowded. The home itself is open and airy, suitable for family game time, partying with a crowd or conversely, napping. It has all the comforts and amenities of your own home.
