The small cottage was perfect for us. Better than any 4 star hotel we've stayed in. The full kitchen came in handy for sure. Had a great and relaxing time.

Michael I am so happy you and your wife had a wonderful anniversary holiday at the 'comfy cottage'! Here's to many more!!!
We love the central location near Chatham center, Bike trails, and Beaches in addition to the Kayaking and grilling available at the cottage.
Cottage is well supplied with everything you need, and Paul is very responsive to any questions or needs.
We return to Chatham almost every year to stay at "Summer Wind." Our whole family looks forward to this trip. The cottage is comfortable, the outside shower is great, and Paul could not be better. We can't say enough good things!

Am so happy to hear you and your family count the days to summer vacation. I did as a child and still do!
Once again I had a fabulous trip and vacation at the Waterview Colony Cottages. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, but within minutes to the beach. Great place as there is a lake on the property for when you don’t want to do one of many beaches. This is my 2ns year here and am so glad I found the gem!
This stay for our family hit the spot- the fresh water pond, which is larger than your average pond, was very nice. The proximity to downtown and beaches with having the feel of being off the beaten path was enjoyable. I would recommend this property to anyone who appreciates a historical camp, that takes adults back to when they were kids and enjoy it with their kids for a Summer vacation.
The cottage was perfect for our family of 4 (mom, dad, 2 kids (would be perfect for 3 kids too)). Had everything we needed and then some. Perfect distance to everything from the beaches, stores, restaraunts, downtown Chatham and Harwich, etc. Already planning on returning next year. Owner is A+
We loved this house for our week-long vacation on the Cape. It's perfect for a small family. The kids loved the bunk beds, eating outside, and having their separate screened-in porch area.
The house was very clean and well taken care of. Having the pond nearby was a big plus. Communication with Paul was really easy. I highly recommend this house for a really nice family vacation.

Thank you Mickey for your kind words. I am so happy that you and your family had a wonderful holiday at the Cape. Hope you have a great summer ⛱️ !
We were looking for a quiet, rustic, old Cape Cod cottage and we found it with Paul and Que’s place.
It was clean, the area was beautiful a
Chris and Jeffnd the short walk to the quiet, crystal clear pond was a favorite when we didn’t visit the area beaches. It was just what we were looking for. Thanks again Paul!
It is so nice to stay at the cottage. Everything you need at your fingertips. And if you don’t want to go to the beach there is the pond steps away. The cottage is beautiful and makes you feel at home, very comfortable. Paul is absolutely wonderful and makes the check in process so easy! I am a repeat vacationer at the cottage as this definitely is a gem!

Our vacation was wonderful from the very beginning (booking) till the end. Paul was so helpful in every step of the way and we were sure that the place is going to be as nice as he is.
Kids cannot wait to come back next year. Thank you!

Thank you Mika. I am glad you and your family had a great vacation.
Quick and more than helpful answers to all my questions. I have never been in a rental that was so well stocked. Everything we could have wanted for the week. Kitchen area is quite narrow but four of us did eat there once prior to discovering the porch with the table was so nice for meals. If you need the outside shower in the dark just take a flashlight .Two different heads, warm water and roomy. Nice little walk to pond with kayaks available.
The property provided everything we need. It's not your five star hotel, but it's a very clean and rustic cottage near ponds and beaches. The white pond is just steps away from the cottage. We spent a lot time there doing fishing, kayaking and swimming. The property manager, Paul, is super. One improvement could be made is adding a large TV in the kitchen/living area for family to enjoy together.

Barbara I am so glad you and your family had a wonderful vacation. I hope you made some good memories and caught some fish in the pond too! Your review was spot on. Our cottage is the old fashioned Cape beach cottage. No frills just fun. My wife and I like your suggestion to put a large TV in the kitchen for the family to enjoy together. We just have to figure out where. Stay blessed!
I was greatly surprised when I arrived at the cottage as it was beautiful! With all the personal touches in decorations it gave it the shore feeling. The lake was 2 minutes outside of door and beaches. Less than 10 minutes away! Each bedroom has its own private screen house and there was 1.5 baths in house with also an outdoor shower! My gkids and I loved it so much that within 2 hrs we booked it again for next year! Definitely a gem! Looking forward to many more vacations here. Thanks Paul!
Paul’s cottage was great for our family! It was close to town and the beach. Based on the listing, we thought the property had coin laundry on site, but we found out while we were there that it did not. The coin laundry is the laundromat down the street. The listing also makes it look as if this is a water front property but it is not. It is a short walk to the pond, but not how we pictured based on the listing. Besides that we enjoyed the cottage and hope to stay again! Paul was great at communicating while we were there and responded quickly.
We had a great stay at this property. Paul was prompt to respond to my messages and provided a lot of helpful information prior to our stay! The cottage was just enough for our family of 4. Both my young daughter and teenage son both enjoyed the cottage and the pond. Swimming, fishing, kayaking right in walking distance was wonderful. The beach was a little further than I had thought it was going to be, as I enjoy walks while on vacation, and was hoping to walk to the beach. I did walk to the beach, and clocked just over 5 miles round trip the day I did it. There are sidewalks on the street, and a couple of walking trails not too far away. The town is very charming and overall liked the location on the Cape as it allowed for us to see some of the most beautiful beaches on Cape Cod, enjoy a trip to P-Town, and made travel in and out off the Cape scenic and easy during the non-peak times when we came and left. I would absolutely rent this cottage again. We really enjoyed it overall and highly recommend Paul as a host!!!

Hello Amanda. I am so happy to hear you had a wonderful vacation. Thank you for your kind words. Thank you for the information on the distance to the ocean beach. We usually go to Harding's beach which I think is the closest salt water beach to the cottage. I will update our website to reflect the distance from the cottage to the beach. Nothing like a good walk to the beach to start the day. I hope you your family a have a great summer. Cheers Paul.

Very Disappointed
The property was very old and not very clean. The kitchen sink had a bad leak, there were bugs so we bought bug bombs and set them off, the shower was so tiny that a larger adult would not fit, and the master bedroom ceiling was covered in active white mold.. Due to limited availability, we had to stay or we would have vacated immediately. I am concerned about the mold as that is a health hazard and could be detrimental to a person with a compromised immune system.

Barbara,
Good morning!
I am sorry you did not have a nice holiday at our cottage. Obviously it was not a good fit for your expectations. The Chatham Bars Hotel is the nicest place in town and they rent free standing cottages which are beautiful. I recommend them to you. You have to make reservations in advance.
I am addressing all your comments as I do not want to disappoint any guest.
Everyone deserves a great holiday. Thank you for letting me know you were not happy with the cleanliness of the cottage.
I called our cleaning service and bug exterminator. I told the cleaning service that one recent guest was not happy with the cleanliness of the cottage. She assured me she will make sure it is spic and span for all future guests. Both the cleaning service and the bug exterminator will monitor the cottage. If there are any bugs inside or outside I will know and the cottage will be serviced again. The cottage has external and internal insect treatment twice a year annually.
The shower in the children's bedroom is standard size. The outside shower is over sized, has hot and cold water and night lighting. I am a 5' 11'' man I prefer the larger outside shower. It is lovely. Showering at night 'l fresco' is lovely.
I called asked the cleaning service and asked if there was a bad leak in the kitchen sink. They assured me there was not. But I will have the the sink inspected and repaired if necessary.
Lastly I can assure you there is no mold on the master bedroom ceiling. The ceiling wood boards have been bleached white in some areas by the cleaning service which has done an exceptional job cleaning the cottage in response to the Covid Pandemic.
I can understand how a guest may misconstrue the white bleached ceiling boards as mold. But I can assure you and any guest that, as you say, "mold as that is a health hazard and could be detrimental to a person with a compromised immune system." is not at risk.
I will have the ceiling boards resurfaced.
You are right ... the property is old. It was built in 1929 by a Portuguese fisherman who retired from the dangerous occupation of fishing and decided to build summer cottages for Bostonian's and world travelers.
The cottage is one of a handful of three season cottages remaining in the Town of Chatham. There are so few left that the historical society of Chatham has contacted us and asked asked us if we would like to our cottage to be listed as a historical landmark and be protected by the Massachusetts historical preservation laws. Once they are gone ... there will be none left. A period of simple living and summer retreat to Cape Cod beaches ... will be gone forever. As you have seen, by staying at our cottage and viewing the pictures on line, we have updated our cottage. We are still considering the historical society's request.
Thank you for reviewing our cottage.
I hope you have a safe and lovely summer.
Sincerely yours,
Paul Witik

Wonderful Family Vacation
My family of 3 enjoyed a week at this sweet little cottage in the quaint town of Chatham. Upon arrival, the cottage was neat and tidy as promised. It also included all of the amenities described in the listing. The owner was engaged and concerned about making sure our stay was comfortable, calling to check on us the first day.
The house is situated in a small neighborhood of similar-sized cottages. We found the neighbors to be friendly and quiet. While we could not see the water from the cottage, it was a short walk to the boat dock. We also had easy access to Chatham and other nearby towns as the cottage is situated off a main road.
The only thing we were a little disappointed in is that a construction project was started about 100 feet from the house. So, during the day we could hear the bulldozers, etc. However, the owner tried to make this right by contacting the town's government as he had not received prior notice of the project. The construction ended around 5 p.m. each day, so our sleep was not disturbed.
One recommendation we have is for future guests to bring their own blankets as we weren't sure if the ones left at the cottage had been laundered. There is a laundry facility a couple of miles away, which we ended up using to wash the blankets for our stay.
All in all, we highly recommend this cottage as a fantastic family vacation spot. Chatham was a cute as could be - one of the nicest towns on The Cape we visited. A+!

Sarah and Bill,
Thank you for the five star review! I can happily report that our neighbors have completed their new home and it looks great.
We took your advise and purchased all new linens and blankets for the cottage. They look nice and are comfi too.
Hope you can visit again soon.
Sincerely yours,
Paul
We had a very nice weeklong stay in September with a young son. The cottage was comfortable and as portrayed. It was very peaceful and quiet. All you could hear in the mornings were some crows, the trees rustling and small airlplanes taking off in the nearby field. Some squirrels also dash on the roof so don't be spooked.
The cottages are located rather tight to each other but we only had one nice direct neighbor. A few others had cars parked but we didn't see anybody. This cottage has a larger back yard than most cottages nearby with a sitting area, a grill and a picnic table. The front also has chaise longues facing a quiet non-paved narrow street just for this colony. The rhododendrons in the front must be marvelous in May!
The kitchen was well stocked. The bed spreads and the wall paintings had a nice beach decor. There were some books and board games. The indoor shower is adequate size for an average person. The outdoor shower was royal (just bring a flashlight after dark) with pine and black cherry trees towering above you. The water pressure was good! The cottage has AC and heaters, neither of which we needed.
The pond was so tranquil and the water very warm. Water shoes would help as there is seaweed. We didn't get to enjoy the kayaks.
There are several nearby beaches with special characteristics, a few nature preserves and a wonderful bike path.
We did a lot of Cape touring but one can easily spend a month in the cottage not venturing far.
Paul was very communicative and he even delivered a kitchen item we wished to have. We would love to be back some day.

Liza and Daniel thank you for your kind words. I am so glad you and your son had a wonderful, restful week at the cottage. Sounds like you had a lot of fun exploring the beaches and the local nature sites. Hurrah! Every season is different but fall has a quiet beauty and is peaceful. The Tea Pot you requested will be forevermore at the cottage waiting to warm you. I hope you will come back and enjoy.
The property was super clean and had everything we needed. We had easy access to the beaches and was able to do some fishing. We would absolutely rent this cottage again.
Our stay at the Chatham cottage was very nice. There was access to the lake with boats which was great for the kids. Perfect for small active families who are out and about during the day. We enjoyed our stay and wish it was longer
The cabin was comfortable and cozy and within walking distance to restaurants (a bonus because parking can be difficult). Each room had it's own bathroom attached which was very convenient and nice. One of our favorite things was the outdoor shower. Unfortunately it was rainy during our stay so we couldn't enjoy the lake. We did walk down to it though and it was beautiful and serine.
