True North is a tranquil retreat on the banks of the Russian River, designed for guests to relax and recalibrate. This two-story home offers an unforgettable experience with a deck perched among the redwoods, direct river access, a hot tub, and seasonal equipment including two kayaks and a stand-up paddleboard (available May–October, weather permitting).

Ideally located, the property overlooks the river and Northwood Golf Course. Guests can swim and kayak directly from the riverbank, dine in Guerneville (three miles away), or explore Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve (five miles away). The home is also perfectly situated for Russian River Valley wine tasting and scenic drives to the Sonoma Coast.

The interior features an open layout with generous windows and a well-appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances. The living room includes a woodstove and entertainment options via cable, DVD, or streaming, while a designated playroom provides additional space.

Partially eaten food should be taken to trash, unopened food and drink and may be left at the home for housekeeping and will be appreciated.
Please return the front door key to the lock box on departure.

Perfect location and great for families

We had a wonderful stay at True North! Walkable to a couple food spots and easy drive to Guerneville. Right on the river, easy access for a dip! And lovely deck with sunshine, a redwood, and river views.

Beauty on the river

Gorgeous property with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Everything was lovely & we had a very comfy stay! Would love to visit again for longer. Location was fantastic!

Naomi was very responsive to our few inquiries. There was an issue with the hot tub which was addressed immediately. Lovely location for playing in the river and using as a base before adventuring. The beds could stand an upgrade, especially the master, but all in all a great visit; would definitely visit again.

Unique space right along the Russian River

We enjoyed this house. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, and all thst was needed for cooking big communal dinners. The house is quite beautiful, with an interior patio, outdoor deck, and hot tub area. The room with 3 beds was a bit cramped for several adults but workable. Overall, it's a.nice spot that's most enjoyable during the summer when you have direct access to the river.

wonderful house with river access

The house was immaculate. Arrival and departure were easy. We love the location. The only thing that was a surprise was the steep path, in deep sand, down to the water's edge from wood stairs of the main path. The level of difficulty for that section of the path does not show in pictures and was not described.

This is a beautiful property in an amazing location. I can’t recommend it enough! The house itself is so unique and special, well-appointed, and comfortable. The deck is perfect for watching the river with your morning cup of coffee. My family had a great time with the kayaks and SUP board. The path to the water does require a strong, healthy adult to carry the kayaks. The river at the time we visited was very slow moving and safe for my teen and preteen. It was not more than chest deep in the immediate area. The hot tub was clean and relaxing after a day on the water. Just a note if you are particular about water, there is tap water available for drinking from the sinks, but no ice. So bring filtered water or ice if you need it. Don’t miss the opportunity to stay at True North, you won’t regret it!

Sweet Riverfront Time

My group and I had a wonderful stay at True North! The check in/out process was super easy. The home is true to pictures. It had a great layout and we all enjoyed the main kitchen/living room space a great deal. Loved the inner atrium! Kids enjoyed the hottub and the renovated bathrooms are lovely. Beds are comfy! We came in the winter so didn't use the deck at all or even go down to the river, but we did love the wood stove and taking walks in the neighborhood around the golf course. The home is wonderfully situated near Guerneville & Monte Rio; we went on hikes outside of Occidental and got to the coast easily for oysters and sunset beach time. It was a super lovely place to stay. It is near the main road, so you do hear a little traffic, but not a big deal. Thanks True North!

Beautiful house, nice hot tub

It’s a beautiful house with a nice hot tub, newly renovated ground floor bathroom and a good array of cooking equipment. A few things detracted from our enjoyment — cold upstairs bedroom with no heating (used the space heater), a kitchen cabinet door fell off the hinges, a loud leaf blower at the golf course across the street started at 6 am everyday. The service and owner fees were quite high, so it's hard to understand why they expect guests to take out the garbage. Nevertheless, the deck overlooked the river and the beautiful fall foliage, many cute towns were very close and we had a wonderful weekend.

Why they chose this property

Managing a riverfront home on the North Wood Golf Course with private Russian River access is rare. I grew up across the highway from this home and spent much of my childhood searching for lost golf balls to turn into the pro-shop for pocket change. This is a quiet neighborhood that shares its location with only the lucky ones. Once you have stayed here, you will be daydreaming of your next visit.

What makes this property unique

This home is well planned, maintained with intention and happiness, and owned by a friendly family that enjoys sharing it with others. They love spending summertime along the river and evenings around the wood burning stove. Cozy and modern all at once, sleeping 8 with spacious accommodations, True North is fabulous.
