5yr old summed it up perfectly: "Let's stay here every time we go to Bainbridge!" Lovely, clean, and quiet cottage a short walk to Winslow. Couldn't go wrong staying here.
A haven of tranquility with easy access to amenities.
Lovely cottage, well equipped, all mod cons.
Information was accurate, owners gave good instructions.
really enjoyed my stay
Had breakfast items in the fridge for us was very nice as we got in late. Took out the kayak and paddle board in the bay was fun. Lots of great restaurants within a few minutes. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful.
It was absolutely lovely. Everything was provided for breakfast - coffee, cream, croissants, fresh eggs, Our Host was wonderful, making sure we were comfortable and happy. I would recommend the Eagles Nest to all.
We had a good stay and enjoyed the property with the exception of pet urine smells in one of the bedrooms (smaller of the two bedrooms that I stayed in). Other than that things were good.
Eagle’s Nest is wonderful. It had a comfortable, homely feel, better than any hotel. The friendly owners had thoughtfully provided a range of lovely treats for our first breakfast. It was a delight to sit outside in the garden but sheltered from direct sun. An easy walk to local restaurants, waterside and centre of Winslow. We loved it. Many Thanks. Brenda
We had such a wonderful time staying at the cottage. The hosts could NOT have been more welcoming, kind, and lovely. I grew up on Bainbridge and was looking for a place in town where I could stay with my family, walk into Winslow and be close to the water. The cottage could not have been more perfect. We walked to coffee every morning, slept soundly and comfortably at night and had everything we needed in the cottage and around us. I am hoping to visit again soon and will always plan to stay at the cottage if it's available. Thank you to the Gerlach's for an amazing stay!
Check in process was easy. The property had one parking spot and is close to walk or ride a bike into town. The owners Suzi and Marcus live on the property behind the house and we’re very welcoming. They checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed and gave some local tips. They had great hospitality! They surprised us with some breakfast items to get our trip going. The bed was comfy, had the cleanest outdoor grill at any rental property we’ve ever rented from, and the house had a couple box fans to keep us cool at night. We spent most of our time on the outdoor patio relaxing or exploring the island. We could also access the harbor with our paddle boards from the owner’s property. We had so much fun seeing the wildlife from the water. If you come with children the house has toys, games and children movies.
We were delighted in every way by Eagle's Nest Cottage. It was conveniently located and well appointed. Both beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had a good assortment of cooking gear, and having 1 1/2 baths made it easy to have a guest stay for a night. The hosts were very friendly and easy to communicate with and made us feel welcome throughout our entire stay. We also enjoyed walking down to their beach area and in warmer weather would certainly have taken out the kayaks. We give it our highest recommendation.
We stayed for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed the unit. Its a separate, 2 bedroom cottage down a quiet cul-de-sac. The kitchen is well stocked with excellent equipment. Study pots and pans and sharp knives. That may be a strange thing to point out, but so many rental units are equipped with the lowest quality kitchen gear. Not here. Its a short walk to downtown and all the shops, and restaurants.
We were offered the use of their kayaks, but it being January and we are from warmer climes, we declined. But very thoughtful.
A couple finds to shout out about: Ba Sa Restaurant (walking distance), Pegasus Coffee (even closer), and Via Rosa 11.
Don't hesitate to booked this cottage, and enjoy exploring Bainbridge Island.
We stayed here for a couple of nights before taking a cruise out of Seattle and LOVED IT. Bainbridge Island is beautiful and full of parks with short hikes. The little town of Winslow is only a short walk from the house and was fun to explore. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and helpful.
Overall, it really was perfect.
From the initial booking to leaving this morning, The Eagle’s Nest, Suzi and Marcus made our trip to Bainbridge Island wonderful! Corresponding with Suzi was easy and always prompt prior to arrival. Arrival and checkin was smooth with the key waiting for us. Suzi and Marcus took time out of their evening with friends to show us around the place and where to find the kayaks, paddles and life jackets. The breakfast treats were very appreciated the next morning as we had arrived later than expected. So many thoughtful and useful details throughout the house. We also loved being able to take the kayaks out on the harbor. A short paddle was rewarded with the beautiful Seattle skyline. The following day’s paddle we saw two seals and many different species of birds. The location could not be beat! We were able to walk into town for dinner, shopping and to get groceries at the market (about a 1/2 mile away). It was also a great location for touring the island as well.
We look forward to returning to The Eagle’s Nest!
We made so many happy memories here. I am daydreaming about our next visit.
The accommodations were outstanding. First, the location is awesome, especially if you want to take a short walk to town or the ferry terminal. Plus, you have a wonderful fire pit that allows you to take in the beauty of the water and beach.
It is very obvious that our hosts, Suzi and Marcus, put much care, thought, and attention to detail in every aspect.
The level of cleanliness was stellar. I can’t stress that enough. In addition to that, the kitchen had everything you might need to create a culinary masterpiece or late night snack.
We were so comfortable. Beds, pillows, linens, towels...all of it was wonderful. We are still talking about how well we slept while we were there!
Lastly, and most importantly, our hosts went above and beyond to make our stay special.
Suzi and Marcus were so kind, so thoughtful, and I am grateful. I had very casually mentioned that we were celebrating our son’s 12th birthday during our trip, and we arrived to find birthday balloons, all the makings for s’mores, and a brand new board game. I was moved beyond words by this thoughtful gesture.
Our stay was magical thanks to Suzi and Marcus. Countless happy memories were made, and at the center of it all was the Eagle’s Nest.
Bottom line is this: If you are debating whether to book or not to book a reservation, DO IT! You will not regret it. I am already daydreaming about my next stay!
Suzy and Marcus were very welcoming and gracious hosts during our entire stay. They were immediately responsive to any questions we had and went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable.
I have just the most gorgeous stay at Marcus and Suzi's cottage in Bainbridge. It felt like a little escape on the island. The place was cosy -- I loved the fire and how equipped the kitchen is. It was wonderful being a short walk from town to the shops and having the kayaks to go out on the water. Marcus and Suzi could not be better hosts -- they're kind, welcoming, and there for anything you need. Will be back again! Thanks

About the host
Your host
After visiting Bainbridge Island on numerous occasions, our family moved to this property in 2004. The Eagle's Nest Cottage is our guest house on the property. Our two children love living here and we simply live in awe of the Island's beauty and lifestyle. We opened Eagle’s Nest Cottage, a separate detached self-contained residence, to allow others have the opportunity to enjoy the Island as well. Welcome to the Eagle’s Nest Cottage and thank you for giving us an opportunity to share our waterfront estate with you.
