Chicks’ Corner Schoolhouse is one of the three remaining schoolhouses in Sandwich out of the original 25. The Chicks Corner School was originally built around 1806, with the current building constructed in 1839 and used until 1944.

This was a perfect place for our weekend away. My fiancé and I came up to NH for an adventurous, fall foliage weekend. This house was charming, unique, clean, and just the right size for the two of us. Unique stay in an old one room school house. Very quiet area, close to hiking trails. The house itself was very clean, lots of windows to take in the view, the water in the shower was nice and hot, well-equipped kitchen. The king bed was especially comfortable! Sandwich is a charming town just a few miles away. Really lovely getaway, I wish we could have stayed there longer.

We loved this gem

Everything was fabulous. From the antique school house items to the great shower head, we loved the atmosphere and decor. If we ever come back to the area, we would choose this one of a kind experience again for sure :)

Unique Stay for Two

Sandwich is a special town and the Chicks Corner School is a unique space. Perfect for my husband and I. Comfortable bed, hot showers, fluffy towels. It was wonderful. Cute and Cozy

My family and I enjoyed our stay in the school house. The area was peaceful, and the house itself was neat. The bed was comfy and the place was clean. Check in and out was simple with great communication from the host. They even gave guest passes for the local area if we wanted to venture out into the town. I would stay here again if traveling through the area.

Short but delightful stay

We stayed 2 nights and it was absolutely adorable. Comfy and cozy. Super quiet, very beautiful area. We would definitely like to go back and stay longer. Check-in was smooth, the door is a tiny bit tricky to get into, but the host did tell us that. Once we got the hang of it, it was easy! Stay, you wont regret it!

Property was lovely and charming. When we arrived, I thought I had downloaded the code for the door,but alas,we had to drive back to town to find an internet hot spot. I think it would be helpful for the manager to forewarn the customer about poor reception and to make sure to write down codes and cell phones before arriving. Other than that,our stay was fine.

I'm the 4th generation of Tompkins' at Chick's Corner. My great grandfather, Maj. General William F. Tompkins, purchased the property with his wife. "Daddybill" and "Mammybill" as they were known, spent thier summers at the property. They were good friends with Ike and Mamie Eisenhower - having been classmates at West Point (class of '15 - "the class the stars fell upon") and the ex president and his wife visited a time or two.

What makes this property unique

This is the schoolhouse adjacent to the main property at Chick's corner. It is one of the few remaining one room schoolhouses in the area.
