About this property
Casa Pomona - award-winning oceanfront villa with 6 bedrooms in Troncones
This 6-bedroom villa in Troncones is perfect for your escape to paradise. Casa Pomona is a brand-new luxury oceanfront home located in the Manzanillo Bay area of Troncones. Our design by Mexico City-based studio Oficio Taller combines the best of indoor/outdoor living with a stunning pool, soaring palapa, and lush gardens in front of the sea. Enjoy yoga, surf, and eco-tourism activities, or dive into vacation mode while our on-site caretakers prepare and serve specialty meals from the Mexican coast.
The space
Oceanfont location: we are located on the northern tip of Manzanillo Bay, the best beach for swimming in Troncones! Directly in front of the house we have a rocky coastline (great for privacy); a four-minute walk on the beach will find you in the middle of the crescent-shaped bay, ready to take a dip in the Pacific. Expert surfers can enjoy the break on the southern tip of the bay. The area is great for boogie boarding and spearfishing as well.
The property itself is an example of Mexican architecture combining modern and traditional elements and inspired by our natural surroundings, jungle and coastline. The design of Casa Pomona blends indoor and outdoor living and invites you into communal experiences in social areas as well as privacy in each bedroom.
Pool: enjoy our outdoor social area and infinity pool with floating daybeds overlooking the ocean, outdoor seating at two tables, bar, hybrid gas/charcoal grill, and wood burning pizza oven. We have gardens all around this space and a path leading to our outdoor shower and down to the beach. The sunset over the ocean and sunrise over the mountains are both spectacular.
Palapa level: our upper level has an open space concept under a soaring palapa (Mexican hand-woven thatched roof). Experience 180-degree views of the sea from our living area and two oceanfront terraces. Our dining room area has a custom built 16-foot tropical wood table with seating for 14. The kitchen is open and has bar seating at the island. The rest of the palapa is surrounded by green roofs and views of the mountains.
Bedrooms: Casa Pomona has six bedrooms, each with its own access (Nest x Yale locks) and individually controlled air conditioning units. All bedrooms have en suite bathrooms.
Pomona: one king bed / sleeps two (primary bedroom)
Vertumno: one king bed / sleeps two
Ceres: one queen bed and two lofted twin beds / sleeps four
Flora: one king bed / sleeps two
Pico: one king bed / sleeps two
Silvano: one queen sofa bed / sleeps two (also doubles as a media room with a projector)
Bathrooms: we have 6 full bathrooms en suite for each bedroom with waterfall showers and custom sinks. Vertumno and Pomona also have custom built bathtubs. Casa Pomona also has two powder rooms for guest use, one on the Garden Level near the pool and one on the Palapa Level.
Amenities: our shampoo, conditioner, soap and bath salts are provided by Mexican brand Laguna Cyprien.
Loft: enjoy yoga and meditation in the lofted space under the palapa accessible by fireman´s ladder. We have equipment for 6 people to practice simultaneously and we are happy to arrange for a private class on-site.
Gardens: our home is named for Pomona, the Roman goddess of orchards and gardens; our landscape architect was part of the design team from project inception. The Garden Level bedrooms are connected by an irregular hall with unique lush gardens between each room. The entrance to the property and the pool also boast examples of the flora of our region. We will also be planting a vegetable garden shortly in the Palapa level (in addition to the green roofs).
Housekeeping & cooking: Alicia and Miguel are our on-site caretakers; they are responsible for cooking and daily cleaning during your stay. Alicia cooks Mexican family-style contemporary and traditional delicacies and we will send you our menu and a short questionnaire a few days before your stay to start planning your meals so that our caretakers can buy groceries accordingly prior to your arrival. The menu you select will have a price per head which is designed to cover pass-through costs of food, beverages, and gas for shopping trips and which is paid separately.
Housekeeping will be provided daily for the home and each bedroom. Linens will be changed every 3 nights (or once per week if you choose to minimize water impact; just let Alicia or Miguel know). If your stay is 7 nights or longer, we will also provide laundry service once per week.
Tipping is customary in Mexico; we ask that you please leave gratuities directly with Alicia or Miguel at the end of your stay.
Ecological conscientiousness: Casa Pomona was designed to minimize impact on our fragile ecosystem. The home runs on solar energy (panels with battery backup) and has an advanced water treatment system, reusing our water to hydrate our gardens. Our landscaping features plants endemic to the region to further reduce the strain on our aquifers.
Remote work-friendly: Casa Pomona has two wifi services, Starlink (satellite) and MegaCable (fixed line) to maximize high-speed coverage throughout the home and around the pool. Troncones is a small town so this has been a titanic effort! We also have dedicated workspaces in each bedroom (desk and chair).
Local activities: popular activities in Troncones and surrounding towns include: surfing lessons, massage, fishing on a panga (small boat) or sport outfit, baby turtle release (season permitting). yoga classes, eco-tours (cave exploration, hiking, iguana sanctuary, etc), kayaking on the lagoon, quad bike rentals, and horseback riding. Alicia and Miguel can help you to make reservations at local restaurants and arrange for any of these tours or activities.
