Charming beach cottage

We enjoyed a lovely long weekend in this perfect beach cottage. It is right on the beach and everything about the cottage was so comfortable & relaxing. The hosts have thought of everything to make your stay memorable . We look forward to a return visit.

Just perfect

We had 4 adults and 6 teens, and it was so great to unplug with the “framily.” We easily walked to downtown, really enjoyed the beach fire pit, and noticed so many touches that made us feel welcome. There were games, plenty of towels, a bottle of sparkling wine, and cute decor. The chilly nights were great inside with an easy to use fireplace. We definitely want to return!

Charming

Perfect location for a relaxing vacation. Beautiful quiet beach, amazing views, charming home, fully stocked amenities, within walking/biking distance to downtown. The house was clean and had 4 large bedrooms and two nice sized bathrooms. Would stay here again in the future.

Beautiful home in a great location!

This home was a great place to stay for our week long vacation! The property is so peaceful, has a private beach, and has amazing sunset views! The house was as expected, based on the pictures, but also felt bigger and cozier. The house fit our group of 10 (7 adults, 3 kids) comfortably and had all the essentials shown in the listing. It is a short walk to the grocery store, restaurants, and shops, which we walked to several times during our stay. We also hiked the sand dunes, biked on some trails, played in the sand and (still really cold) water, went kayaking on the Crystal River, and played a lot of competitive board games! Definitely a great place to relax, unwind, and bond with family/friends. Mary was also great with communicating ahead of time with what to expect! We enjoyed our trip to Glen Arbor and loved staying in this home!

How beautiful!

The property was perfect, short walking distance to the cute downtown area, right on the water. It’s a short distance to some amazing hikes and breathtaking scenery. The kitchen had everything one needs for extensive cooking and baking, even a great outdoor grill. The house had a lovely fireplace, nice bathrooms, comfy couches. The sunrise on the water and sunset by the fire pit are unbeatable. And the hosts were quick to respond, helpful and friendly. We’re definitely looking forward to coming back!

A small slice of paradise

Thoughtful decor, well appointed, clean & comfortable. Impressive exterior ... from the landscape to the shake shingles and siding. Epic location ... firepit + sunsets = lifetime memories. Super-sized "sandbox" fun for the kids and adults with frisbees. Walking distance to the charming downtown district. Look forward to a return trip!

I only have great things to say about this property and the home owners. The views were gorgeous, the kitchen was fully stocked, and the beds were extremely comfortable to name a few things. Paradise in Glen Arbor

It is hard to capture the beauty of this property in words and even in photos. One is struck by the view of the private beach as soon as you enter the home. The sunsets over the dunes and lake are breathtaking. The fire pit is perfectly situated close to the beach but also at an optimal distance from the home accessible via a charming blue boardwalk. The Big Dipper and numerous constellations appear to be at your fingertips. The home’s color palate befits the location with soft blues and natural wood. It is very tastefully decorated. The master suite and en suite bath are 5 stars as is the kitchen and living room/dining area. The other bedrooms are comfortable in size and pleasing in decor and share a hallway bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped. A separate laundry room was also a very nice feature. The beach facing outdoor deck is amazing. There is a great BBQ. The location of the property could not have been more perfect. The entire beach is accessible in both directions for several miles and it is literally a 7 minute walk to town. Mary and Charlie are wonderful hosts. We will be returning!

Exceptional home in perfect location

We went to Glen Arbor with 5 three year-old children and 4 adults. The house comfortably slept all of us and was an ideal location for both families. The walk to downtown Glen Arbor (including entertainment, restaurants, art galleries, a fitness center, and the grocery store) is less than 5 minutes. You are under 10 minutes away from numerous hikes and family activities. The private beach area in the back yard (with outdoor shower for rinsing sand off) is a great play space for kids while you prepare meals. The fire pit is an awesome addition for the evenings (especially with s'mores). The view is absolutely spectacular, especially during sunset. I very rarely relax when I am on vacation because I am always thinking about work. This amazing home allowed me to shutdown and focus on my family for a whole week. We will be back.

End of summer escape

The cottage was all that was advertised. Very clean and organized. Our families enjoyed the space and surroundings. This vacation completed an end of summer escape and our grandchildren called it their summer cottage; so we will have to come back next year. Thanks so much for sharing!

Perfect!

I can't say enough great things about this Beach House - the owner, Mary, was so responsive and easy to deal with, the home was just steps from the Beach with a fire pit, nice big deck, beautiful sunsets and just a few short blocks to in town Glen Arbor. The owner thought of EVERYTHING we could possibly need or want, fully stocked kitchen, extra towels in bathrooms, (bring your own beach towels and/or folding chairs), guide book to the area restaurants and activities, even a ton of extra hangers!, Very clean, with furnishings and decor so comfy, casual and attractive. We will definitely go back - in fact, if it were for sale, we'd buy it! We were a family of four, but the home could easily accommodate many more. There were two bedrooms we didn't use. Really a fantastic get away!

All you need

We just left this property after a 1 week stay and were very happy with this cottage. Everything I look for in a rental is here....beautiful view, great location, clean, comfortable furniture and beds, very nicely appointed, and close enough to Glen Arbor to be able to walk.

Favorite vacation home and location !!

We cannot say enough good things about this home and location. After traveling to Michigan more times than we can count for our family vacations, we have finally found the spot we will come back to for our up north trips. The home is on point with a beautiful blend of style, comfort, and a touch of sweet rustic lake home appeal. You will immediately feel at home and welcomed as everything you need or want in a vacation home is ready and waiting for you. The location is fabulous on the "big lake" with breathtaking sunsets, beautiful water views and can you say blue? The water color and clarity is comparable to none. Fires on the beach with s'mores and your favorite beverage watching the sun set will become your evening ritual. While being private and not too close to neighbors, the proximity to town is excellent so your car can stay parked if you choose. Being just off one of Glen Arbor's main streets, it is so much fun walking into town for dining, shopping, kayaking, biking, and hiking. For the days when you do want to hop in your car but not go far for some more exploring, you are within very short drives to the Big and Little Glen Lakes, Sleeping Bear Dunes, the cities of Leland, Sutton's Bay and Empire. Did I mention fishing? Bring your boat or rent one here. So many options and lakes that produce great results! We had a fabulous vacation in this lovely home, so much so we wish we could have stayed even longer! We can't recommend a better place to stay.

A Perfect Getaway

If you are looking for the perfect Lake Michigan getaway, this is it. Everything about this house and location exceeded our expectations. The house was so well-equipped and so charmingly decorated. The deck had a very nice grill and comfortable furniture. The sand right off the deck provided a great play area for our one-year-old granddaughter. My husband and adult children enjoyed kayaking along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. The sunsets were spectacular. Within a short walk is the town of Glen Arbor. We had a delightful lunch there and did a little shopping. The grocery store in town has everything you can possibly need. One night we built a fire on the beach, made s'mores and enjoyed looking at the stars. Mary, one of the owners, went above and beyond to answer my questions and to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We are all still basking in the fun memories and we want to go back next year. I don't believe there can be a more suitable beach house for our family. Thank you so much for letting us have this experience!

Pure paradise

My brother's family, and my family stayed in the house for a week with 3 kids each... and it was pure paradise. The house is perfect and clean, loved the set-up with the kitchen in the middle, with the master bedroom plus 1 bedroom on one side of the house, the other two bedrooms on the other - everyone could still have their downtime. We were the very first renters this past summer, we were so lucky to have had the chance to rent it out such last minute. The beach, the water so clear and refreshing, swimming early mornings, late evenings... And the house is just a 5 minute walk to downtown Glen Arbor. So much to do!!! All in all for us, it truly was pure paradise, even with 6 kids under 8. :-)

Picture Perfect!

What a wonderful hidden treasure! We have been coming to Glen Arbor for a girls get away for a few years now and we have stayed in a different cottage each time. We enjoyed this cottage so much we are planning to book the same place again next year! You are in walking distance of a number of little shops, restaurants, and a grocery store so you do not have to go far to enjoy Glen Arbor. The cottage is also on Lake Michigan. It was as if we had our own personal beach. A gorgeous place to watch the sunset and listen to the waves.

We fell in love with Glen Arbor and the Sleeping Bear Bay beachfront on Lake Michigan during our first family vacation in the area in 1995. We purchased a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo on that vacation and purchased this fabulous, four bedroom beach house in May, 2012.

Why they chose this property

Lake Michigan beach front, views of the big lake, the Manitou Islands, sunsets, beach fires and a comfy, beachy home to accomodate friends and family. Sleep well and stay cool in our air conditioned home.
