Luxury 4 bedroom villa w/pool and sea view near beach and village

This luxury villa built in 2008 is ideal all year for the retired, families on maternity/paternity leave and as a holiday home for one or two families with children. The villa has three bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs. It enjoys the sea breeze of summer, but air co/heating is fitted. A high quality Keller kitchen is fully equipped. The living room has a fire place, two sofas and a dinner table for 12. The furniture is contemporary Scandinavian. Two bathrooms are upstairs and one downstairs. Wireless internet is included.
Outside is a spacious wooden deck and a 10x5 m overflowing pool with underwater lights. Great sea views from second floor. The villa has a beautiful garden and there is no traffic noise.
Three great beaches are a ten minutes walk away, and it is a short drive (or 25 min walk) to the square of Ferragudo village. Several restaurants and mini-market are within short walking distance, Gramacho and Pinta golf courses a short drive away.

Things to see and do with a car: The Slide&Splash water park is a 15 minute drive away from the house. Go ten minutes further and you will find Aqualand and Zoomarine, which has a fantastic dolphin show. Silves, Monchique and Sagres are great places to visit. Silves is dominated by Silves castle, a thrill for children! Monchique is known for the spa that is at least 2000 years old. Sagres marks the South-Western tip of Europe. The Romans called it 'the end of the world where the waters of the ocean boil at sunset'.
The boat tours that leave from the quai of Portimao or from Carvoeiro explore the caves and coast of the area. Some offer dolphin watching, deep sea fishing etc. Chldren will love the pirate ship trip!
Fans of motor-racing will enjoy the Formula 1 test circuit in Portimao. Quieter, but no less interesting are the megalith tombstones including the neolithic chamber tomb in Alcalar, close to Portimao.
Lagoa is one of the main wine producing areas of the Algarve. Wine tasting daily at Adega.
These are just a few examples of things to do on a day off from the beach. Visit one of the many web-pages from the Algarve and Ferragudo/Portimao region to get more ideas.

Things to see and do within walking distance: Do not forget attractions within walking distance. Ferragudo is an unusually pleasant village and you easily spend a lazy afternoon at a cafe table in the village square Praça Rainha Dona Leonor. Every second Sunday of the month there is a flea market in the village.
Praia Grande is said to have dinosaur footprints at its South end, but we haven't found them. Sao Joao de Arade is a picturesque castle right on the beach on the North side. Some say it looks like a sand castle, and we don't disagree. There is a footpath from Ferragudo through Praia Grande to the next beaches, Praia do Molhe and Praia do Pintadinho next to the lighthouse at Ponta do Altar. Take a stroll to the lighthouse one evening to watch the sunset! Next to the lighthouse is a natural pit from which you can hear, and partly see the sea far below. It is amazing and slightly scary.
The foot-path continues to Praia dos Caneiros and further to Carvoeiro via the recently restaured medieval watchtower.

Scandinavian ownership: The villa is owned by a Scandinavian family. English and Scandinavian are spoken.

Introduction to Portugal

This is a lovely property which is very well located in a quiet neighborhood, centrally located for provisions, for beach access, for hiking, and for touring by car. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Portugal and our stay here. The kitchen is large and well equipped and there are plenty of bed linens and towels.

House better than expected

We throughly enjoyed our stay here. The house was bigger than we thought and the neighborhood is very fancy. I was the hero dad when the kids saw the house:) it’s a good location as well just make sure you rent a car so you can see everything.

Casa Kardemomme

Casa Kardemomme is an impressive villa with a fabulous pool that our children spent most of their time in! The villa itself is spacious and very well equipped. Front and rear seating/outdoor dining areas were lovely and the air conditioning kept the villa cool on very hot days. Ferragudo is a 25 minute walk away or a short Uber ride (which are very easy to get) and there are two beautiful beaches close by (about a ten minute walk) both with beach bars. We had a lovely time and would recommend the villa and area for a family holiday.

Beautiful Vacation Property!

Absolutley beautiful home for a lovely stay in the Algarve! We were three couples and each had their own space. An abundance of places to sit outside and enjoy the weather - both in the sun and shade. The pool area is very inviting - just be cautious as possessions can fall between the cracks. (I was very thankful that the owners have some tools in the house, as my hearing aid fell and my husband was able to unscrew a board and reach down to retrieve it!) The kitchen is fully stocked for easy meal prep and the dining table easily fit eight people. A quick walk to the lighthouse or the beach made these locations very accessible. Walking into Ferragudo, we enjoyed the restaurants and gelato shops. We would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone headed to the Algarve.

Comfortable Villa with Fab Pool near Restaurants and Beaches

We stayed at Casa Kardemomme as a group of 3 couples looking for a relaxing break within easy reach of restaurants, beach and with a pool. This villa suited us perfectly. The pool is lovely and the house has plenty of room and could easily have accommodated a larger group. It is well supplied with utensils for self-catering and we particularly appreciated the availability of some ingredients/condiments so that not everything had to be bought. The villa is located about a mile from Ferragudo which was great for eating out, and within easy walking distance of some lovely beaches. Ferragudo is less built up than nearby Portimao. It was also situated within an hours drive from lots of daytrips - Silves (Castle town), Sagres (most South westerly point), Alvor (wetlands lagoon), Carvoeiro (rock formations), and Lagos (port) were the ones we explored and were all interesting. Communication with the owner Haakon was quick and efficient, always helpful and accommodating to our requests, and a real pleasure to deal with. We would definitely recommend this villa to family's or groups.

Beautiful

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful villa. It was ideally located and beautifully landscaped. Once we figured out the navigation system on our rental we able to get around and see the country. The villa was beautiful an very spacious. We cooked supper most nights and again once we figured out the appliances all went well. We weren`t able to use the pool as the weather wasn`t warm enough, but we did sit outside above the pool and enjoyed the evenings. Laundry facilities were great and we enjoyed being able to hang clothes out to dry on the warmer days. We were a short drive away from many shopping areas and tourist areas. We walked to the light house daily and checked out the hiking trails. Dining out was also a wonderful experience. There was always plenty of food at reasonable prices. Our favorite experience was going for coffee and fresh baking and just relaxing and listening to people visiting, without a telephone or computer and actually talking to one another. All in all I would recommend this lovely villa and Portugal as a go to vacation spot

- A casa não se encontra limpa, bastou arrastar um móvel do quarto para ver se tinha uma tomada elétrica e encontramos papeis e lixo.- A casa apresentava muito mau cheiro sobretudo nos armários, sala de arrumações, quarto com beliches e bicicletas. As almofadas também cheravam mal.- insectos mortos nas janelas.- O split dos ares condicionados deitam muita água molhando o chão. Tivemos de usar toalhas e um recipiente.- A proteção de vidro da banheira do wc azul não se segura e vai na direção de quem está a tomar banho.- Televisão muito pequena. - na descrição da casa refere que tem 3 camas king size mas é mentira. Em dois quartos apresentam duas camas individuais juntas.- os quartos nao têm cortinas e não existe nada para tapar a claridade. Nunca pagamos tão caro por uma casa assim.

Tolle Unterkunft mit noch tolleren Stränden in der Nähe

Es ist wirklich eine sehr schöne Unterkunft und organisatorisch hat alles reibungslos geklappt. Die Strände kann man bequem zu Fuß erreichen und vor allem Praia Dos Caneiros ist eine Wucht. Die Darstellung der Zimmersituation ist ein wenig unklar, deshalb noch einmal hier: Es gibt drei schöne Doppelzimmer im Obergeschoss, eine Schlafcouch im Erdgeschoss neben dem Wohnzimmer und dann noch ein Hochbett in der zum Zimmer/Büro umgebauten Garage. Vor allem das Garagenzimmer ist natürlich nicht das schönste, erfüllt aber seinen Zweck, wenn zum Bsp Kinder dabei sind. Wir waren eine Gruppe von 9 Freunden und es hat uns insgesamt sehr gut gefallen.

Traumhafte Villa mit tollem Garten

Große Küche und gemütlicher Wohn- und Essbereich, zwei Terrassen - einmal mit Morgensonne und eine zweite sehr große Terrasse mit Abendsonne, großer gepflegter Pool und traumhafter blühender Garten, 3 Doppelzimmer im Obergeschoss waren sehr gut. Eher für Kinder geeignet waren ein Schlafzimmer neben dem Wohnzimmer und ein Schlafzimmer mit Stockbetten in umgebauter ehemaliger Garage. Vom Reiseveranstalter und Gastgeber erhielten wir zwei Adressen zur Anreise mit dem Auto zum Ferienhaus. Eine Adressangabe Vila Mar mit Hausnummer 1 war zum Eintrag ins Navi, war aber nicht das richtige Haus. In unseren Unterlagen gab es eine zweite Hausnummer mit Angabe des Hausnamens Casa Kardemomme, Hausnummer 7 (portug. Lote 7). Dies war das richtige Haus. (Die zusätzliche Angabe Urb Vale da Azinhaga war verwirrend und konnte unser Navigationsgerät nicht finden.) Dass man am Anreisetag im Dunkeln, die Hausnummer eine längere Zeit erst suchen muss, war der einzige Kritikpunkt. Ausflugsziele des Gastgebers und Einträge im hauseigenen Gästebuch über Restaurants und Strände waren topp. Wunderschöne Wanderwege über die Klippen, traumhafte Ausblicke auf den Atlantik. Ein rundum wundervoller Urlaub, den ich sehr empfehlen kann.

Lovely villa with a fabulous pool

This was our first family holiday in a villa (5 adults and 3 children) and it won't be our last. Our first impression on arrival at Casa Kardemomme was "WOW" and it didn't disappoint when we entered the property. It is a beautiful spacious villa with a fabulous pool, plenty of sunbeds and inflatables - which the children loved. It was also nice to have the use of the bikes at the property. We enjoyed using the breakfast terrace overlooking the well kept front garden - it was a lovely way to start off the day as the sun came through. The kitchen was fully equipped and had everything you would need for a self-catering holiday. We visited 3 of the local beaches and took the opportunity to go paddleboarding too. We visited a number of restaurants both close to the villa and in the square in Ferragudo. We especially enjoyed the Piano Garden (Indian/Italian) which was a short walk away from the villa. We also found a small supermarket (for essentials such as milk, break, cheese, frozen food, etc) 5 minutes from the villa and located in the grounds of Clube de Campismo de Lisboa - Parque de Ferragudo. (just across from the sign for the restaurant Gosto (which was closed). We did the big shop at Lidl in Parchal using Uber. The owner of the villa, Haakon, was a pleasure to deal with right from the start and was always helpful and responded promptly to any requests or issues which arose. We absolutely loved this villa and would highly recommend it for a lovely relaxing holiday. We would certainly stay here again.

Great family accommodation

The villa is set in wonderful grounds and with a south facing pool and decking area which was well used by all. Plenty of space for our 3 generational group of 10 and extremely well equipped throughout the house. The villa is in a quiet residential area within walking distance of a number of beaches which were never crowded even though it was August. Great walking across the cliff top paths to the lighthouse for sunset and also between the beaches at low tide. El Molhe became our favourite. We went most mornings returning to the villa for the afternoon. Steep steps down and back up but we managed it even with a buggy. Lovely restaurant there too serving fresh fish and great cocktails. It was well used! The walk into Ferrugudo was easy to find and enjoyed by all. Communication with Haakon the host was prompt and efficient. All in all a great location for a family get together and we would recommend the villa without reservation.

La maison et son hôte son exceptionnels. Our family is Norwegian and lives in Oslo. We use the house for holidays and sometimes as location for work (since we have independent, research based jobs), but it is a pleasure to let the house to others when we are not there ourselves.

Why they chose this property

We had been vacationing in Portugal as well as in Spain, Greece and elsewhere, but when the time came to aquire something ourselves we decided the Ferragudo-Carvoeiro area was the best area we'd been to. We particularly like the unspoilt and unbuilt land areas from the lighthouse towards Carvoeiro, we like the ever changing pattern of flowers, and we like the fact that Portugal (almost) never becomes too hot in summer.

What makes this property unique

The design of our house is quite special, with curvy shapes everywhere. It reminds us of drawings from a well-known children's book in Norway, hence the untranslatable name Casa Kardemomme. However the main attraction of the house is the garden with a fantastic variety of flowers, and the pool. We also like our ocean view from the breakfast and evening terraces. Actually the ocean view was an important reason we bought this particular house. The garden was not finished at the time.
