House has practically everything.
The house had practically everything one could need, it was clean, nicely-decorated, & perfect for a group of 4 adults. Price was reasonable. Homeowner was willing to let us stay for less than a full week, without having to pay a full week's cost. Accessing house was easy. We were more than comfy during our stay. As far as the downsides: There is no land-line phone, and Verizon cellphone service is non-existant in the area, so unfortunately we were unable to make any phone calls anywhere in town. When the house's wifi went out on our 2nd day there, we were essentially cut off from any way to communicate with the homeowner or the rest of the world, unless we used the internet at a cafe down the road, which was frustrating. But, in the end, we worked things out with the homeowner, who gave us a small refund on part of our total payment, to make up for all of the problems caused by not having phone or internet access. The town is rather "dead"; most of the stores, restaurants & bars have very limited hours--and even days--that they are open, even in the height of summer. Again, very frustrating, but not the fault of the homeowner. We had to drive for a while to get to most of the activities we wanted to do. In a perfect world, I'd pick up this wonderful house & move it to the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid area, where there is more to do in the summer, & more options in terms of food, drink & shopping. I communicated with the homeowner about our concerns regarding the lack of phone/internet, as well as a few other less-important amenities that we felt she should add, & she said that she'd definitely take our suggestions into consideration.
