Walk To Beach From Updated Waterfront Dog Friendly Cottage

Welcome to the lovely South Bethany Blue Cottage, a renovated dog-friendly home just 2 blocks from the quiet guarded South Bethany beach. It is also just up the road from the dog-friendly (unguarded) York Beach/Fenwick Island beach, and 1 mile to the Bethany shops, restaurants and boardwalk. 3BR / 2 BA Sleeps 6. You must be over 25 to rent this house, no groups, and the person signing for the rental MUST be among the occupants. Non smokers. Dogs accepted on a case by case basis. Please send more information on who will be staying and if you have a pet when you apply.

This sunny beach cottage is bright and airy, and you will love relaxing on the screened in porch facing the canal, and watching the sun reflect on the water. It has everything you will need to enjoy your get away. High speed wifi, a 42” smart TV in the living room with sound bar. A fully equipped kitchen and a large gas BBQ grill with side burner. An electric range and dish washer; a refrigerator-freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker. Fully quipped with dishes, bowls, cups, pots and pans, cutlery, utensils, and of course wine glasses!
Gorgeous vinyl plank flooring reminiscent of driftwood is easy-care. The open floor-plan makes it a great home for small gatherings.
The home comfortably sleeps 6+ in spacious and cheerful rooms. There is space for a crib in the primary bedroom which features a queen sized bed, and an ensuite full bath. The other bedrooms each have two twin beds in them. Total: 1 Queen, 4 Twins.
Air conditioning and ceiling fans will keep you cool. Central heat for the guests coming for a fall or winter get-away. Double pane windows .
Full sized washer/dryer in case you run out of clothes ( who needs lots of clothes when you are at the beach).
We have a small dock for fishing, launching a little kayak, or just sitting idly on the dock near the bay…

Bring your own bed linens and towels, or spare yourself the trouble and extra laundry by renting a package from any of the local rental companies .
They also rent out strollers/joggers, wagons, beach chairs, umbrellas... you name it!

Driveway Parking for 3 vehicles, and two parking passes to park on the ocean side of the Ocean Parkway in South Bethany. Plug for EV charging on the side of the house

Property is on the "bay side" of Ocean Parkway, directly on the canal.

Supermarkets (Giant, Food Lion) are nearby for stocking up , the Dollar Store is 1/2 mile away for sundry items.
The cottage is located halfway between Rehoboth Beach, DE and Ocean City, MD. This general area offers tax-free outlet shopping, water sports, mini golf, championship golf, fine dining, boardwalks, etc. all within walking distance to a half hour or less drive from the cottage. The Bethany Blue cottage is located a few blocks away from a shopping area which includes family style dining, gift shops, dollar store, a pizza restaurant, a gourmet cafe, some fast food options etc.

Kayaks can be rented nearby on Fenwick Island, on an hourly/daily/weekly basis-- call 302.539.7999.

Also, if you need to use a boat ramp, Fenwick Island and Assawoman are the closest ones to our house.

PACKAGE DELIVERY: we do not receive US Postal Service mail at the house. If you are having something shipped, make sure it is being delivered by UPS, Fed X or another private service.

Weekly/monthly rentals all year long. During the off season (October-May) daily rentals with a 3 night minimum stay.

We and our small dog had a delightful stay at the Blue Cottage. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The porch and deck area were inviting to watch the birds along the canal. And Dana was super communicative and responsive to any questions we had. I recommend the Blue Cottage for anyone planning to visit the Bethany Beach area.

This is our second visit to this home and we have really enjoyed our stay. The updated hall bathroom was a nice surprise and the location is fantastic. Kayaking on the canal and enjoying evenings on the patio made for a perfect vacation. The kitchen equipment (pots and pans) could use a refresh, but we would definitely return to the house for a 3rd year.

Dana and Leo Scanlon and their two daughters have enjoyed spending time in South Bethany at Aunt Betty and Joan's beach house since the early 1990s. Dana works as a real estate agent in the Bethesda, MD area, and is licensed in DC and Virginia as well. Her favorite color is blue, like the sea and the sky. The cottage has been blue its "entire life", and she saw no reason to change that, only to embellish it. She enjoys horse-back riding, practicing the art of dressage, and gardening. Leo is an IT security professional, currently posted at HHS in DC. He is the handyman, Dana is the decorator and marketing professional.

Why they chose this property

We think you will love this property because its a sunny and updated house in a low-key area within a short walk to the beach. The reputation of Bethany as "the quiet resort" has a broad appeal to those who want to spend time with their friends and family, just relaxing. Being at the beach, with access to the small village, the little shops and eateries nearby is, in our opinion, the ideal get-away. The 4th of July parade in Bethany is the stuff of family legends and memories. If you crave additional high end restaurants and shopping, Rehoboth is 20 minutes North. If you want loud music and the bar scene, there are other places to go for that-- its just not what you will find here.

What makes this property unique

The screened porch overlooking the water of the canal is the perfect place to read a book, take a nap, or enjoy happy hour with your family and friends.
We have a dog, and have made this a hassle-free dog-friendly home, which included removing all the carpets. We do not charge additional pet fees.
The furnishings are fresh and bright , because we feel that's what you should have at the beach. Your beach cottage shouldn't look like a dark log cabin in the woods!
