Before You Book

The Hohnstead is a true glamping experience designed for guests who want to slow down and reconnect with nature. The bathroom and seasonal solar showers are a short walk from your cabin, and the experience follows the rhythm of the sun and changing Montana weather.

You'll be sharing the forest with the wildlife that calls this place home, including birds, deer, elk, and other small forest creatures. Natural surroundings mean occasional bugs and the sounds of the outdoors are part of the adventure.

If you're looking for a traditional hotel stay with room service and a completely controlled indoor environment, we may not be the right fit. But if you're dreaming of quiet mornings, star-filled nights, fresh mountain air, and meaningful time with someone you love (or your favorite four-legged companion), we'd love to welcome you.

Pet fee: $50 per dog per stay (maximum two dogs).

A liability waiver is required at check-in.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the shared Commons Lounge with Wi-Fi, electricity, full kitchen, refrigerator storage, dining and lounging areas, local recommendations, games, and books.

The shared hot tub is available through a simple reservation board in one-hour increments.

Enjoy peaceful forest walks, relax around the shared propane fire area, or visit the vibrant Missoula, Montana (only 25 minutes away).

Host profile image
We're Garrett and Alla Hohn and we're excited to host you at the Hohnstead, our self-built piece of Montana haven. All 5 of our cabins are self built, unique and off-the-grid, helping you to reconnect to Nature and to each other. We love working out, traveling abroad, brewing (beer for Garrett, Kombucha for Alla), gardening, and anything that supports an eco-friendly, simple living lifestyle. If this is your vibe, we wanna be friends :)

What makes this property unique

We went from bare land in 2010 to working on it 2 months at a time (on our vacations from our jobs abroad). In 2022, we were finally able to quit our jobs, and made The Hohnstead Glamping Cabins Resort our full time seasonal job. Proudest part - we only paid out for a concrete slab in the Commons Area, but everything else on this property was built with our own two hands.
