Rustic post and beam home rich with character. Five bedrooms and 2 full bath 2200 s/f sleeps up to 13. Cozy wood stove for heat with propane backup; a/c. Please be aware when you are booking this property that the two woodstoves are the primary source of heat for the home. The propane is merely a backup system and likely won't provide you the comfort you are looking for when used alone. House enjoys a large yard and mature woodland surroundings. Relax on covered porch or large shaded deck and enjoy the biodiversity of your secluded surroundings. Five minutes to Liberty Resorts skiing and golf; 15 minutes to Gettysburg. Property features artwork from various local renowned artists. Meander through the woods on our boardwalk to find an additional outbuilding equipped with a game room and sleeping quarters. Woodstoves are wonderful for ambiance and warmth, but please be aware when you are booking this property that the two woodstoves are the primary source of heat for the home. The propane is merely a backup system and likely won't provide you the comfort you are looking for when used alone. This year, we added a gameroom (detached building with access to home by a boardwalk) with additional sleeping quarters. Gameroom is equipped with board games, puzzles, pool table, ping pong table and poker table and a double bed and queen bed as well as a small bar area. The hot tub is available at additional fee. If you are not a nature lover and would be upset by the occasional visitation of a mouse or spider, then I recommend looking elsewhere. We strive to keep the home critter free at all times, but this is a rustic home in the woods. There are no guarantees.

The house was clean and great condition for our group! The host was very friendly and reched out multiple times which we gratly appreciated. We can not wait to come back and visit again
Great game room so we could spread out. Hot tub was a hit. Enough beds for all of us. Exactly as described. Host was great to work with. Wonderful place for our family to celebrate Pap’s 65th birthday!
Me and family really enjoyed this spot. Well equipped and roomy. Boys enjoyed the game room. Beautiful ride everwhere we traveled. Thanks for having us!
Our whole family came for a week, we had space to spread out and relax. Saw many deer, teen hung out in the game room when the adults got boring. Will stay again.
Excellent set-up with all supplies needed including enough linens for a large group and even a portable crib/high chair available. Quiet location. Enjoyable game room!
We loved the house! If you live rustic and secluded, this is your place. We had a blast and having a tourist town like Gettysburg near by was a plus. Awesome.
My brothers and our oldest friends gathered for a long weekend. The house was awesome! It had a cabin feel with exposed wood and all the amenities we could handle. We spent time in the game room and hot tub, cooked out on the deck the whole weekend.
Everyone really enjoyed the property!
Very good location. Close to liberty mountain resort. We love the game room, the hot tube and barbecue area. The house had all that we needed. We traveled with our 4 kids and their significant others and everybody had a room and ample space to share all together as a family. Although it doesn’t changes our positive review, an additional restroom in the game room will be ideal.
This property was much more than we expected! The additional studio game room was perfect for the kids ... and adults. Pool, Ping-Pong, board games, books, poker table and bar made the down-time very relaxing. The addition of the hot tub next to the deck was very relaxing. With only a 10 minute drive to Gettysburg, there is plenty to do.
Great place to stay!

Paul's group was a pleasure to host. They followed all check in and check out procedures and left our home in excellent condition. We would welcome them back anytime!
We had a wonderful time in this very cozy but expansive farm cabin. Corinne was a wonderful contact and everything was exactly as she stated. The House was warm upon arrival and we dive right into the fully appointed kitchen to make our first nights dinner. Plenty of dishes and silverware for our group of 11. The hot tub was a pleasant surprise to us as it was not yet listed in the listing. It really added to our visit since there wasn’t any snow to play in❄️. We had a great time at the Liberty Mountain Resort one day and otherwise found plenty to do with our group at the house.
The residence was clean and very spacious. Had all the amenities and then some for a long weekend. Seven family members stayed in the main house and had a bedroom to spare. Back patio had a very large picnic table under a pergola. Off the deck there was a large hot tub in which the whole family enjoyed (extra fee) but worth it. There is a wooden boardwalk the leads to a large game room. We spent hours playing pool and ping pong. There were also several beds upstairs in the game room if you have a large party staying there. The game room also is stocked with many board games for all ages and multiple gaming units The host was very informative through the whole booking, check-in and check-out process. Our family had a wonderful time and highly recommended the listing.
I recently stayed at this property with a wheelchair-bound friend, and our experience didn't quite match the advertised wheelchair accessibility, as there was no proper ramp to the main entrance or easily accessible entryway. The ramp from the back building is inaccessible due to the difference in height from the gravel to the cement.
While the property itself is charming and well-maintained, and the host was both friendly and responsive, the accessibility issues made our stay a bit more challenging. This property may not meet the needs of wheelchair users without significant assistance.
On the plus side, the house and property are secluded and quiet. The house is also well equipped, with plenty of dry firewood, and a separate game room connected by a neat board walk.....all unique. The house is definitely "rustic", as advertised, and we did receive a visit from one or more mice that left their "calling cards" in the kitchen....not a plus, but also as advertised. The first floor location of the 2nd bathroom that serves the four second floor bedrooms is not convenient. The photos on the website are outdated. The surrounding woodlands are fast engulfing the house....not a negative if you like being closely surrounded by lots of trees. In summary, the house and property are rustic and eclectic......and both descriptors have their distinct pluses and minuses, depending upon one's tastes and preferences. The location is in a beautiful part of PA.
The house was great, had everything we needed. The host was very responsive to all or our inquiries.
Even with the house feeling so isolated you are very close to some good restaurants and only 5 minutes from Ski Liberty.
This property was exactly what we needed as far as location, amount of space, layout of rooms (I'd just check with her before booking--theres a captive bedroom so it may not work for everyone?). Corinne responded quickly to all my messages and questions, and was very flexible (e.g. we had a last minute change of plans that made us need a later checkout time and it wasn't a problem at all). The house was really cool--great atmosphere, interesting design and architecture. Tons of space for our large group, lots of games and books to keep everyone busy, kitchen was well stocked with dishes/pots and pans/etc. We hope to find this available again on a future trip to the area!
We loved this house and the associated game building! It's only a 15-minute drive to the heart of Gettysburg, but the house is nestled in the woods along a quiet country road. My favorite part of the house was the large front porch, and I enjoyed having coffee there every morning; the only neighbor I could hear was a distant rooster. The house itself is beautifully rustic, with 4 bedrooms upstairs, and one huge bedroom and 2 bathrooms downstairs. One of the upstairs bedrooms is connected on both sides to 2 other bedrooms, and you have to go through one of those bedrooms to get to it, but both connections have doors if you want privacy. There's a large, shady deck out back with a table and chairs for 6, right beside the hot tub. There is a nightly fee to rent the hot tub, but we never had time to use it anyway and elected not to rent it. The game building is down a beautifully lit boardwalk that leads right off the rear deck, and it's well-stocked with games, puzzles, a pool table, ping pong, video games, a poker table, kids' toys, and a TV. No one in our party slept in the game building, but there were 2 beds upstairs and a couch downstairs that could have been used. The only reason we didn't spread into those sleeping quarters was that there's no bathroom in the game building, but we did spend a lot of time playing pool and ping pong. There's also a table and chairs on the front porch of the game building, and a fire pit with chairs out in front. The house was homey, and the kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed, including some basic spices, paper towels, dish soap, and a fresh dish scrubber. Plenty of TP in the bathrooms, and tons of towels, which you don't always find in rental homes. Corinne was fantastic, calling the day we checked in to see if we needed anything. I was happy to meet her one day when she called to see if it would be OK to drop off some new goodies for the house; we never had any problems, but I'm sure she would have fixed anything promptly if we had.
The closest store is a Dollar General, but we found a wonderful Jubilee grocery store a few miles away in Emmitsburg. We had pizza delivered one night from Pizza Leone, and it was amazing. We also took a horseback tour of the battlefields, a ghost tour of the Jennie Wade house, and a double-decker bus tour of the battlefields; all were fantastic experiences!
I would definitely stay at this house again!!!

About the host
Hosted by Corinne Higgs
Nan and Max are retired college professors and currently live in Gettysburg. Nanette is now a full time artist, and Corinne lives with nearby with her husband and two children. We are happy to share our home that we lovingly designed and created.
Why they chose this property
This home was built by us using timbers from Nanette's parents' barn at the end of the road. We lived here on a property carved off from the big farm for 15 years, and have leased it out for most of the remaining time. We often thought when we were at vacation rentals in other states that many of them didn't quite compare to what we had at home. So we've decided to try making it available as a vacation rental.
What makes this property unique
This home is private and secluded; the only sounds you are apt to hear at night are the peepers and the barred owls in the woods. The deck is a great place to hang outside, and the covered porch can't be beat for witnessing a passing thunderstorm or evening lightning bugs. Golf and skiing are a mile away, and there's easy access to Gettysburg and even day trips to DC.
