Other things to note *** Please note the short gravel road between the cabin and Silver Run rd is fairly rocky. I will send you directions to make access easier. Just don’t drive a sports car when you come and you will be just fine, we have easily accessed the cabin with a BMW sedan, and others have had no issue with a Prius/ ford focus.
Tip: There are two approaches to the property; Spur Rd is a loop. I recommend passing the the first street sign for Spur Rd on the left (DO NOT TURN IN HERE) and instead take the second left for Spur Rd where you will see the mailboxes and a sign for Spotted Bear. This is a much easier way onto the property. Drive up the road about 100 feet you will see the cottage and the gravel driveway to the right. The driveway can accommodate two cars. To leave, you can drive forward and bear left down the other side of Spur Rd which is fine for exiting the area.

Check in and check out was simple. The cabin is comfortable and attractive. Lots of light and we were able to keep the windows open the whole weekend. Didn't spend much time on the porch because the cushions were all soaked from the daily rains. The road in is rough, we were glad we bought the truck.

Woodland getaway
Our place was clean. On the website you need to make sure that you are driving a four wheel drive car. Both sides of the driveway were bumpy and rough on our car. We blew a tire on the side rocks the first day there. I suggest moving those rocks on the right over a foot you can’t see them when you are pulling forward. There were a few essential items we had to go buy, no extra trash bags, dawn and scrub brush. The out door deck should have been blown off before our arrival we had to clean that off.
Let me say the drive up to the property will beat you to death and you really need a 4WD truck to get up there. My wife and I arrived and carried things up the stairs and followed the instructions from the host for the keypad and batteries were dead so we couldn’t enter the property, it’s extremely cold outside so we went and sat in the truck while trying to reach the 2 different people that recently messaged me. I finally got a call back after several attempts and had to go on the side of the house to get a spare key out the lock box. We entered the home and it was really cold, this home has no central heating and air just a fireplace and 2 space heaters for the 2 rooms that when you plug them up all the lights flicker in the house and trips the breaker, so we couldn’t use them. The cookware in the kitchen is very limited that we should have brought our own being it was Thanksgiving and we were cooking.my wife and I left to go into town and locked the door behind us and when we returned we couldn’t unlock the bottom lock only the deadbolt, they had 2 keys and the one for bottom lock wouldn’t unlock the door so I had to use the old credit card trick to get in.The outdoor fire pit was nice.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear about the challenges during your stay and appreciate you bringing them to our attention.
The driveway suffered washout from Storm Helene, leaving it in worse shape than usual. Repairs are already scheduled to restore it. While 4WD isn’t typically required, we’ll recommend it more clearly during adverse conditions.
I apologize for the delay with the keypad and the inconvenience of retrieving the lockbox key in the cold. We’ll ensure more frequent battery checks moving forward. Regarding heating, the home relies on a fireplace and space heaters, and I regret the electrical issues disrupted their use. We will be sure to address that.
The kitchen is compact, but we aim to keep it well-stocked. For special occasions like Thanksgiving, we’re happy to confirm or accommodate additional cookware if notified in advance.
I’m glad you enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and hope it added to your experience. We value your feedback and are committed to improving for future guests. We hope to host you again under better conditions.
Best regards
