About this property
Beautiful 18th Century Village House in Seillans
This beautiful 18th century spacious village house is simple, practical and romantic. It has a large south facing garden with trees for shade and a wonderful view of the village. The house is user friendly and ideal for a family or just one or two people. The house was renovated by an artist who liked large rooms and lots of light. Originally 2 houses, there are 2 staircases and the top floor with a Romeo and Juliet balcony can be accessed separately.
The house has the advantage of being extremely private yet in the village, and you can walk out of the house into glorious countryside. Within an hour's drive you can reach Nice, Cannes, Antibes, and Draguignan, with Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, St Tropez and the Gorges du Verdon being only half an hour more.
The house easily sleeps 6 to 7. There is a large bedroom with an en-suite bathroom on the first floor. On the top floor there is a double bedroom, plus a double and a divan bed in a large multi-purpose 'atelier'.
The top floor has its own shower, WC and a fully-equipped beech Magnet kitchen, breakfast bar and dining area - plus 'Juliet' balcony with glorious views of the village and to the south. There are 2 staircases which link the lower and middle floors. The building has character, charm and history: one of the stair-cases is spriral and all floors are tiled. There are not many modern right-angles in the structure and design: it is a rewarding experience to explore the authentic but sensitively-modernised old buidling.
On the ground floor there is a kitchen/dining/living room, WC, plus a large garden with vine-covered patio. There are places to enjoy the sun and to eat and drink in privacy and shade. The Habitat beech kitchen looks great & is well equipped. There is a super 5-burner gas hob, double sink, big fridge-freezer, quiet Miele dishwasher, micro-wave, electric oven, kettle, magi-mix, toaster etc! Each dining area has tables and chairs for 4-8 people. There is a washing machine for those whose rental includes garden access.
Because this is where we live for several months of the year, the house also has a piano (we also run a major international classical music festival here each August), plus wireless internet, terrestrial HD TV & DVD player. The BBC has recently changed its satelite reach in France so would require a huge dish for which planning permission is not approved in this charming historic area. We have consequently removed the previous smaller dish and do not currently therefore have satellite TV access but the house comes equipped with a computer/HDMI link via VPN to UK TV channels and catch-up TV.
