Everything about our stay and the house was beyond our expectations. Mark was very helpful and easy to contact. The location is bucolic with woods on the edge of the property and on a quiet road. The house is beautiful, words are really not enough. Fascinating vignettes of objects around the house. We felt strongly that we were borrowing a friend's house for the week. It was cozy and warm. The gas fire in the sitting room was a favorite place to gather along with the cozy corner of the kitchen in the sunny mornings and when others were cooking. The wood burning fireplace in the little outbuilding overlooking the stream was more than adequate to heat the house. I loved the wonderful lighting controlled by remote switches made the rooms beautiful, moody and cast light just where you need it. Both bathrooms had lights that came on with motion detectors, good for night visits. Our dog loved exploring the garden and finding balls! Great for fetch.Everything functioned very well even though it was hovering just above freezing. Outside were fascinating solar powered lamps that came on at night and added interest to the outside views. We are using the idea of the corner seating in the kitchen for our kitchen renovation. It really is the most wonderful place I have ever rented. Mark couldn't have been more welcoming. There was everything we needed for cooking our Thanksgiving meal. The house is about 15 minutes over a covered bridge to Kent, CT. and 10 minutes to the train station.
