Perfect location for visiting Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Parks

Wonderful location for visiting Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. Very close to the parks and great views of wildlife right from the kitchen table! Recommended but note that there is no WiFi and extremely limited cell phone service.

Beautiful secluded cabin and property. Great hospitality.

We enjoyed our stay at the Shady Glen. The property and cabin is beautiful. A winter storm blew in during our stay turning the place into a winter wonderland. We spent time exploring the property and in the cabin by the fire after getting snowedin. Due to the heavy snow and topography of the property we could not drive up to the cabin, instead had to trekk to the cabin, but it just made the place feel all the more secluded and with nature. Kimberli was very accommodating and even offered other cabins if the walk to the cabin was to much and kept in touch throughout the storm. We would recommend the stay!

A cozy stay near Sequoia & Kings Canyon

This was a beautiful little cabin tucked away near the national parks. It is a short drive up to Grant Grove Village. Kimberli was a kind and wonderful host who helped us when we were o initially lost (use Google maps, not Apple Maps). Grateful there was a baby gate to block off the loft and high chair for our little one. Heads up, only my husband’s work phone that has AT&T had cell service. Our Verizon phones didn’t have bars. We can’t wait to come back!

Nice Little Cabin

This is a nice little cabin for a stay. We only stayed 3 nights but would be comfortable for a week or more since it has all the amenities of home including a washer/dryer and full size appliances. Nice loft area - bed off the kitchen is private, other bed is in the common area. I recommend the cabin but there are a few considerations. Bring your own coffee maker unless you use k cups, the one there takes about 2 hours to make 8 cups. There is a small yard but has a steep drop off so just be careful with dogs and kids - there were some baby gates that we setup to keep our dog on the porch. There is a swap cooler/AC unit it works fine but can be a little loud and hard to cool the loft, but lots of fans and temps dropped at night so come open windows helped. Take the PM seriously when she says there are no gas stations or grocery nearby, we didn't venture out there looked like a couple resorts that may sell food and there are markets in the parks.

Shady Glen Cabin

We had a great stay at the Shady Glen. The owner Kimberli was super accommodating making sure all our needs were met. The cabin itself was clean, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed, All we had to bring was our personal belongings and food. Linins, blankets, soap, and paper products were provided. There is a propane heater and a wood stove for heat. We used the wood stove each morning. There is no wifi which was good with us. There is a nice selection of books, maps & dvd's. We did get good cell reception. The cabin situated on a hill set back from the road. Neighbors are almost out of sight. Traffic on the road is not noticeable and almost non-existent at night. The driveway is a bit of a challenge with ups and downs. I strongly recommend arriving during the daytime it would be hard to navigate in the dark. The property itself is really geared for adults in that it's a hilly natural setting with no specific outdoor children's amenities. We liked the peace and quiet plus getting away from the day to day rush of life. Kings Canyon NP is a wonderful park and it's not far away. Strongly recommend going to Cedar Grove within the NP. Plan your meals and bring all your groceries - it's a long drive to a grocery store. There are limited groceries in Kings Canyon NP as well as gas. If you like getting away from it all, enjoying peace and quiet in a natural setting then Shady Glen cabin would be a good fit ... it was for us.

We enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was clean and had all the basic amenities. The bed was comfortable and the outside deck was a perfect spot the have breakfast or a cup of tea in the afternoon. We really enjoyed watching all the birds that were flying around the cabin. We also appreciated it's close proximity to Kings Canyon NP. With its open floor plan, this cabin is better suited for a single family and was perfect for the two of us.

Quiet and remote setting in the Sierra foothills close to Kings Canyon National Park. Very comfy and homey cabin with a very responsive hostess. Fully stocked with all of the essentials. Beware - no wifi. If you must be constantly on line, probably not the best selection for you.

Cabin was clean and ready for us. The owner was very proactive and contacted us prior to arrival and upon check out. The refrigerator had died before we arrived and she had it replaced within a couple hours of our arrival. Good experience overall. The house was equipped with a swamp cooler which was a first for me but it worked well. The driveway is an adventure!

This place is awesome. It’s a slice of heaven away from everything. A cabin in the woods that is simple and super clean. It has everything. Kimberli the host is super nice and communication is awesome. She cares about you and your stay. She has animal feeders and bird feeders on property and it’s a joy watching all the wildlife from the deck. We saw deer, gophers, squirrels and so many variety of birds. There were a ton of hummingbird feeders and loved seeing those. The drive to Sequoia is easy. Thank you Kimberli!!!!!!

An Absolute Treasure

Long afternoon naps in the trees, animal watching, apple picking and the most amazing park in nearby King's Canyon. This entire mountain is a true cathedral and this idyllic cabin in the woods is a true gem. The host was wonderful about checking in and we strongly suggest you consider this beautiful property.

4 day stay at Shady Glen - 5/24-5/28/25

We stayed 4 nights and the cabin was perfect for our needs. We were tired every day from hiking in the nearby NP's and appreciated coming back to a clean, comfortable and homey cabin to relax each evening. We enjoyed the deck every night and the many birds that visited the bird feeder. We loved the loft and the bed was very comfortable. We would definitely recommend staying at this cabin. The host was terrific!! Thanks Kimberli!

Great stay, close to park

Fun stay with convenient access to sequoia/kings canyon. Host made sure we had everything we needed. Be careful initially pulling into driveway off the road if you don’t have high clearance - the rest of the driveway is fine.

About the host

Host profile image
This cabin was built in 1956 by William, where he lived till he passed away, I am now the property owner and would love to see it enjoyed by those that are looking to escape the city and get back to nature, a place to unplug and reconnect with your spirit, kids and heart.

Why they chose this property

I am most at home in the mountains and have lived here 37 years. The Pinehurst area provides the mountain environment while being reasonably close to the cities of Visalia and Fresno. This particular property is nestled amongst the, cedars, and oaks and is right off the main road to Kings Canyon. Wildlife is attracted to the creek which flows seasonally through the property.

What makes this property unique

Peace, quiet, and seclusion, opportunities for walking, birding, horseback riding, and nature study. Artists (writers, painters, musician and composers) will enjoy the opportunity for introspection. Close to Dunlap (archery center) parasailing and hang gliding (Dunlap flight park) General Grant Grove of Giant Sequoias, and Giant Sequoia National Monument.
I think it is so important to us to get away and just unplug play. Games and puzzles or at the cabin for guest to enjoy.
I also allow well behaved pet's $25.00 to $35.00 dollars per pet per night pet need to be house broken and well behaved, pets are not to be lift in the cabin when guest leave, if you don't want to take your pet on your outing, you can leave them in the kennel that I have provided for them.
